- What is the BEST Date for SIP Investment in Mutual Funds and Stocks? Normally, the long term investors keep guessing without any concrete conclusion. The financial planner / Investment Advisor / Mutual Fund distributor of the investor suggest keeping SIP date during the beginning of the month. The reason being, they would like to ensure that as soon as you receive your salary or income then they get their wallet share as they receive commissions and get incentives for SIP in mutual funds.
As an investor, you have to select the SIP date from the list of dates offered by AMC or Mutual Scheme. You can decide on your SIP date as per your wish. According to independent studies/analysis, the BEST Date for SIP Investment in Mutual Funds and Stocks are as follows
1. Near the date of expiry.
2. End of the month.
3. Middle of the month.
4. Beginning of the month.
If you start your SIP every month 25th then you are more likely to generate 1% additional return on your investments compared to any other day of the month. On the contrary, the SIP in mutual funds and stocks during the beginning of the month is more likely to deliver the least returns on your investments.
The reason for best returns near expiry is a highly volatile market and position unwinding by the traders near expiry. Historically, the market trade lower near expiry during the entire month.

In my view and personal experience , instead of regular sip one should go for lump sum investment on the day market has corrected significantly.

actively and manually manage every fund in our portfolio. It will become a chore, especially if you're a long term investor. The biggest advantage of an SIP is that it's automatic.

I have set all my sip on 25th reading multiple analysis online and watching multiple videos about the same. It took days to come to a conclusion. He confirmed my decision in 20mins. So for a person doing SIP this is a goldmine of info.

You are misguiding the investors. Main thing is monthly investment. It may be of any date of the month. Now any date SIPs are available. The difference between 5, 10,15,20 and 25 is negotiable. How many of maintain balance in savings account till the last week of the month?

I have I have four SIPs every month on different dates and always been in good profit I did that to spread the risk first SIP goes out on 5th second on 10th third on 15th and forth in the last one goes out on 20th of every month.

How about doing your own SIP i.e. place your SIP on days when the stock market is weak. You definitely tend to get a better NAV and you have all the freedom. Objective is to create a habit of placing a certain amount as an investment, you should do this at the time you think it is the lowest. Appreciate your comments.

Sir i have a doubt related to SIP. I didnot get answer for my query from any expert till date. I hope you take time positively and clarify my doubts.
1. If I dont register for SIP with any Fund from any AMC, but regularly keep buying a fixed amount of units from a particular mutual fund (say SBI bluechid fund - 10000 per month) for 5 years time horizon, will the compounding effect still work??
2. If I want to invest 10000 per month in stocks for 10 15 years time, can I do SIP in specific stocks? Is it a good thing to do? What should be the approach sir.

@@santoshrathor1880 you will charge more if you do in direct stock purchase..as each stocks will carry separate charge. Along with stock selection n allocation will harm you more in over the period..
Asset allocation is also main thing to generate consistent return..
