I really REALLY want f2p accounts to get communication back. Imagine that opening clip but we can actually get to see the medic standing in place to yell out his thoughts in all chat.

New tf2 players don't ever use voice chat, and in my experience at least, half the time they don't seem to hear it

@@rps9339yeah because they QUITE LITERALLY CANT. If you played before the muting of f2p players,you'd have a VERY different experience, we used to have to deal with kids crying in vcs or meming and it was the funniest shit ever. It was the greatest medium to teach f2p players special tech and answer questions, they've been silenced, Sherlock, they literally CANT use it.

Don’t forget the teabag is actually a double meaning. If you crouch up and down when you aren’t teabagging somebody, especially when you’re looking at somebody it’s a sign of hello or truce or a peace sign.

IKR, I love the thumbnails, they’ve got such a vibe to them. Also it makes the videos more clearly soundsmith videos, the old sfm render thumbnails were only recognizable when you could see the time warp dapper topper in the thumbnail, I probably scrolled past a good few not realizing it was a soundsmith video

my brain read this as "oh soundsmith is teaching someone from his friend group tf2 etiquette and in-jokes, surely the crazy hijinks they will get up to will be very satirical in nature" but honestly having it be running into new players in casual and getting that giddy nostalgia moment when you think back to what you were like then is so much better
New players are the definition of "don't let them know your next move" even if they don't know it.
Extremely cute. Tf2 didn't live as long as it did and more without new players, the lifeblood right here. I want to see that medic improve, would be so cute if they stuck to maining their first class and we just witnessed history.
i started playing in 2020, for first year didn't play more than 20 hours, but for some reason i keep coming back to it, now i have 400 hours most from 2023-24, there is no game like it, specially social interactions.
It's like watching a baby taking their first steps, such a beautiful sight!

It's really cool that you can actually watch and notice this medic getting slightly better at the game as the video goes on, too. This guy is going places
This video reminds me of one of the best TF2 encounters I have ever had.
It was in TwoFort where I was just doing my thing killing snipers where while trying to kill one I crouched to dodge his shot but the sniper thought I was being friendly so he crouched and after that we decided to not kill each other and he (probably looking for an excuse) decided to take a shot of whiskey if he shot me on accident, by the time the match ended the guy was so drunk he was speaking Irish but as he got more drunk his shots became better.
I will never forget that match but I'm sure that man forgot me.
This Medic would later go on to promote positivity in the video game community for years to come.
As a medic main, I hope this guy lives a long life with a prosperous career in the medical field (in TF2).

@@reactionare Eh, I'm usually quite forgiving of my team - especially because I'm in no place to judge because I'm not the best player either.
If they're not actively and intentionally going out of their way to get me killed (IE, scouts knowingly stealing health packs from me), I'm happy.

Some if my favorite TF2 memories are of people teaching me basic interactions. I have the distinct memories of someone with gibus pyrovision letting me dominate them so I could have finished provision, because I thought pyrovision looked cool.

I remembered being that new medic. I was so lost. I wanted to help people so I just started healing. Then someone said, via voice chat, “that’s a spy, medic.” And I freaked the fuck put because- did I have an open mic this whole time?!? There’s voice chat!?! Oh god! My brain couldn’t comprehend it. (I didn’t have open mic thankfully.) and WHAT!?! SPY CAN DO THAT?!?
Oh yeah. There were also 2 friendly scouts A posing and jumping around with their floppy legs and they terrified me since they seemed to be able to fly (double jump) I thought they were hacking.
I once tried to help a new medic in a game of Upward. Near the end, he spawns wearing a burning duck unusual and everything and reveals he was seeing how casual people react.
The one time I don’t mess with a new player and it’s a fucking incognito medic main

Yesterday I was playing 2fort and I literally couldn’t get any kills, so I just said screw it, went on mic and said “Hey guys it’s me Tom DeLonge from Blink 182, I’m gonna sing my new song, Welcome to the Black Parade by Blink 182” then sung the entirety of Welcome to the Black Parade in the whiniest emo voice I could do, it killed my vocal chords and by the end of the song I sounded dead. Only three people even reacted out of a full 12 person server, one guy said “what” in chat, another guy screamed into his microphone, and a guy said “holy shit thank god it’s over” which is honestly the reaction I strive for
It's a small thing, but seeing you use that detonator you painted from your unboxing video is strangely satisfying. "Yeah, I saw them do that. Continuity. Nice."

it's this kind of stuff that brings me so much hope for the day i actually start playing this game. im always so worried ill get made fun of for not knowing how to play or how to do certain things(the first time i played engie i exploded my buildings instead of moving them because i didnt know how), but the genuine joy that yall react to that new player with makes me so happy
