I would like to give you a bit of context: this movie is an adaptation of the 8th volume of the light novel. The first 1-7 volumes are covered by the first season of the anime, with the only exception of the 5th volumes, which are summer holiday stories located after the Nine School Competition (and during those short stories, there is one that starts giving info about Tatsuya emotionless situation and Miyuki/Tatsuya's past, info that the anime never give to us in that explicit way). About the volume covered by this movie, it actually takes place exactly after the events in Yokohama. Tatsuya and Miyuki are both called to the Yotsuba main house, to return there to participate in a family meeting. However, the real reason is the fact that their aunt Maya Yotsuba, current head of the Yotsuba clan, wants to know the details that brought Miyuki to release Tatsuya's limiter during Yokohama Incident. And during this family meeting, while Tatsuya speaks with Maya and with other people, seeing how some members of the family treat Tatsuya, Miyuki start remembering about their past, when she was still treating him as a butler (because that's how she was teached by her parents), and the events that brought to her change toward Tatsuya. And precisely about this element, I must say that the movie failed a bit to underline the extreme change in Miyuki. For her entire life until that moment, she was teached as a Yotsuba to ignore Tatsuya and to not consider him her brother. But when she "died" (her body was not dead, otherwise Tatsuya would have not able to bring her back, however she was very close and she thought that she actually died), she understood all the things that Tatsuya always did for her and she decided to consider herself reborn a-new, no more as a Yotsuba member, but as Miyuki, Tatsuya's sister. She started to really love him as a brother and as an individual (not as a man, not yet at least) and she decided to dedicate to Tatsuya the new life that he donated to her, out of simple and sincere gratitude toward him.
No it's not. This is an adaptation of the manga version which is the strength arc and not LN. LN took place in December when they where invited by Maya to visit the Yotsuba. The Visitor Arc happened after that which is January. They showed minami here when wasn't supposed to be yet with them in the LN. It shows that the ending scene took place after S2 since its already spring.

Honami died from overheating of Magic Calculation Area, which damaged her information body structure, which causing her physical body to collapse. Tatsuya`s abilities can`t reach mind and soul, so Regrowth couldn`t save her.
The reason one emotion, his care for his sister was left so that he remains controllable, after all with his magic he could genuinely destroy the world if he wanted to. Remember that flagpole that he used Material burst on to nuke that marine base at the end of season 1. AFAIK he has no limit as to what he can use to turn into a bomb and how often he can do that in succession. That paired with the fact that he also is nigh indestructible with his regrowth that works on himself in seconds on auto pilot means that without any kind of fail safe like Miyuki he´d be a walking disaster....
And it's because Miyuki knows this that she is so devoted to him. She knows he's been used as a tool rather than a person, and also that as manipulative as it is to leave him with only that emotion, the emotion itself is genuine and there's literally nothing he won't do for her sake. This is before we even get to the part about her being dead if it wasn't for Tatsuya. One of my fav moments is towards the end of season 1 where the hostile soldiers break into the auditorium and shoot at them. Miyuki stands completely still behind Tatsuya without even flinching as he "catches" the bullets and deals with the guy, then calmly cleans the blood of him once he's done. It's so simple and yet hold such great meaning. She both shows complete and total trust in him while also caring for him in even the smallest ways.
Note how mom uses Miyuki-SAN, which implies neutrality. So even though we clearly see her treat Tatsuya as a servant due to her emotionally disabled brain, it also on general level extends to Miyuki as well, as she doesn't refer to her w/o honorifics like family normally would to offspring especially, but w/ the neutral default -san that you'd use for anyone you'd meet on the street
The Thing about Tatsuya not treated like a "Normal" Family Member or one at all, or rather the Reason behind this, is basicly the Whole Reason for Everything that Happend to the Yotsuba Family. Its the Reason why the Yotsuba became the most Feared Family, one of the Strongest, why Tatsuya has no Emotions and so on and on and on....... And that is Based on the Tragedy which Happend to his Mother and Aunt. Without to much Spoiler, the Baseline is, because of what happend to them, they wanted a way to prevent that ever happen again, a way to take Revange, a way to gain enought Power and a lot of other Factors, which lead to the Creation of Tatsuya how he is. To say it simple: They Decided to Sacrifice one of theire own Childs for all this Goals and Great a New form of Magician/Guardian/Servant. Yes they got Honami and so on, but they arnt nearly as Powerfull or Live as Long as Tatsuya, aside from some other Problems.
Not entirely accurate, they wanted power so what happened wouldn't occur again, but they consider Tatsuya to be a punishment for their 'greed' in seeking so strongly to protect themselves. Since, he's way too dangerous even by their own standards. That's why the adults mistreat him, they aren't "sacrificing" him, they're just afraid of what he represents, as he could theoretically destroy the world. The more people he's strongly emotionally attached to, the more triggers that exist for him to have a massive outburst. We've already seen several times how aggressive he gets whenever Miyuki is threatened. The kids of the family treat him as an equal because they have none of that emotional baggage.

Her constant using of Onii-sama after that (which is highest form adressing to a brother) is result of her trying to cover created gap as well as reminder. Reminiscence isn't actually a movie. It's an OVA that aired as a Christmas Special. The actual movie is: Gekijouban Mahouka Koukou no Rettousei: Hoshi o Yobu Shoujo (The Irregular at Magic High School The Movie: The Girl Who Summons the Stars). Yes, they actually put "The Movie" ala old style Hollywood like Star Trek: The Motion Picture. The Girl Who Summons the Stars is technically a stand alone movie but chronologically it takes place after S2 (which wasn't even announced at that time) but there is an "end credits" scene showing that should be right before S2 (at that time a sort of S2 announcement). It's really odd they wanted to introduce a certain dork character in the movie first like this.
It's crazy how Miyuki tries to do the anime shirt tug to win Tatsuya over lol. "Don't go" *tug*. I love how Tatsuya talks to Major Kazama about requesting a suit because he's going to annihilate the invasion after going after his sister. Things did not change at all in S1. I always feel bad for these characters who are born without an aptitude for magic etc. and their clans/family won't let them raise rank or fit in. Like Maki from JJK. I think it's pretty selfless what Miya did for Tatsuya, though.

They are essentially saying that neither regrowth nor decomposition are magic since they don't either modify information bodies or phenomenon. By the Mahouka world standards, this would be a superpower (much like a quirk from My Hero Academia). Additionally, the Yotsuba are an elite family of magician. So, him having a superpower and not being able to use magic is the problem that they have with him.
I have seen a couple reaction to this. Everyone keeps thinking the the Kuroba twins are Maya's kids. Maya is sterilized. The guy is Mitsugu (or something like that) he is a cousin of Miya and Maya. Only the main family carries the name Yostuba. Note why both children are named Shiba.
The way Tatsuya and Miyuki have to address eachother differently isn't really confusing at all. Within the Yotsuba family, as well as their close social circle, Tatsuya is to be addressed as the Guardian that he is, a tool meant to protect the heir, nothing more than that. This is the reality of their relationship. In the open, however, such things are not accepted by modern civilised society anymore, nor is it wise to reveal Tatsuya's status to potential enemies as it would make him less effective at protecting the heir, so in the public they have to pretend to be just your regular brother and sister. The only thing Tatsuya is even remotely, begrudgingly respected for are his personal prowess.
Well, I knew you guys already finished s2 , but I still want to tell you ( you at that time in the video) that You should’ve watched ss 2 first before the movie. It is not important, if you consider that those details related to the dates were put there only to cover the mistakes they did at the beginning, releasing the SS2 before the movie. This movie is the 8th volume of the novel, the SS2 of the anime starts with Volume 9. However, they decided to delay after the SS2, to make/release this movie. A terrible mistakes, because by doing to they waited too long to give some serious info about Tatsuya's and Miyuki's past. Info that the novel gives with that volume, but that it also starts giving them earlier in different volumes, and that in the first season of the anime are totally absent.
In book Ayako, Fumiya and Minami was first introduced in this arc, which happened right after end of season 1 and was a bit different in present, flashbacks were mostly the same. In anime it was as always upside down. I still can`t understand why they can`t simply follow text.

Some context on the relationship between Miya and Maya is missing for non-light novel readers: SPOILER WARNING: There was an incident in Taipei in 2062 where Maya was kidnapped.....and a year and a half later an entire nation disappeared (this is why the Yotsubas are considered "untouchable"). Let's just say the twins' father didn't take it well. Maya didn't return unaffected, and their father basically asked Miya to use her powers to fix her sister. Twelve-year-old Miya could only "fix" Maya by "divorcing" her emotions from her memories. As a result, Maya's childhood memories are just facts to her with no feelings attached. In other words any love she had for her family members is reset to zero in that moment. She can have new emotions going forward from that point, but nothing emotional before age twelve, just the memories. Miya feels some guilt for this and Maya feels some resentment, thus their "cool" adult relationship. Fumiya and Ayako's father is Miya and Maya's cousin, not Maya's husband. Another result of Maya's kidnapping was her sterilization, which ended her engagement to Mayumi's father Koichi (he lost one of his eyes trying to stop Maya's kidnapping).

It is not important, if you consider that those details related to the dates were put there only to cover the mistakes they did at the beginning, releasing the SS2 before the movie. This movie is the 8th volume of the novel, the SS2 of the anime starts with Volume 9. However, they decided to delay after the SS2, to make/release this movie. A terrible mistakes, because by doing to they waited too long to give some serious info about Tatsuya's and Miyuki's past. Info that the novel gives with that volume, but that it also starts giving them earlier in different volumes, and that in the first season of the anime are totally absent.
In book Ayako, Fumiya and Minami was first introduced in this arc, which happened right after end of season 1 and was a bit different in present, flashbacks were mostly the same. In anime it was as always upside down. I still can`t understand why they can`t simply follow text.

This movie should have been watched after season 2. This scene at the beginning takes place after S2. Thats why you dont know that character thats with them

There was an incident in Taipei in 2062 where Maya was kidnapped.....and a year and a half later an entire nation disappeared (this is why the Yotsubas are considered "untouchable"). Let's just say the twins' father didn't take it well. Maya didn't return unaffected, and their father basically asked Miya to use her powers to fix her sister. Twelve-year-old Miya could only "fix" Maya by "divorcing" her emotions from her memories. As a result, Maya's childhood memories are just facts to her with no feelings attached. In other words any love she had for her family members is reset to zero in that moment. She can have new emotions going forward from that point, but nothing emotional before age twelve, just the memories. Miya feels some guilt for this and Maya feels some resentment, thus their "cool" adult relationship.
Fumiya and Ayako's father is Miya and Maya's cousin, not Maya's husband. Another result of Maya's kidnapping was her sterilization, which ended her engagement to Mayumi's father Koichi (he lost one of his eyes trying to stop Maya's kidnapping).
