My idea of grownup fun,building a 59 for off-road tracks,dirt and pavement both with minor changes depending on which one I'm doing..currently running 1500 but will eventually have more options.also converting to IRS rear

Whoever told you that these VW's made up to 536 horsepower is full of HORSE SHIT! Not even remotely close! Maybe close to 150hp at best especially with those almost stock exhaust systems and I'm sure without turbocharging, supercharging or nitrous oxide! If they really did have 536hp, they would be a HELL of a lot faster going down the straights! I've built a lot of the air cooled vw's engines over my 60 years and there's no way you can get close to 536hp without a turbo and nitrous!
