as an artist who struggles drawing things like hands and dynamic poses, i honestly don't have a problem with this. it's just that japan is really strict with these things, and i don't think "plagiarism" would be best to describe her works.
if 4 chan couldn't find it tho, HOW COULD SEGA!?! Like atleast that's what I think. I'm sure there were (are) some freaks on 4 chan who tried to look for it tho.
@@lilli4222I’m pretty sure it’s because Minato didn’t delete his accounts, this isn’t like Moja P (the producer behind Kagamine HachiHachi Flower Fight) who deleted all their social accounts which is why the song didn’t make it back into Project Diva Future Tone as sega couldn’t contact them until Project Diva Megamix added it back In Minato’s case his accounts weren’t gone, so Sega was still able to contact him
I see absolutely no problem in using all these stock photos and use them to make a montage clip for a vocaloid song it's a composition and she did it very well the only issue would be that she didnt pay for the copyright of these stock photos
i guess this is why Project SEKAI didn't use the original PV for Just Be Friends and had Rella as the new PV artist I feel bad, since this incident blew out of control and just kicked out YunomiP off the scene completely, instead of people expecting her to make improvememts and avoid any more tracing.
thank u for stating that this incident is a cautionary tale and not a contribution on the dogpiling. what yunomiP has done is more common than people think; there is a very fine line between tracing and referencing, and what she has done is right in the middle. honestly in my opinion for a small artist with no idea what copyright laws are (this is back in the 2000s!), i don't blame her for thinking it was alright to use stock images as pose bases, and the whole situation is just an overblown mess. am i saying what she's done is right? no, but she didn't deserve to be wiped off the internet. i hope she's in a better space now, genuinely wish to see her work grace the world again
The problem really was that she was using non creative commons photos for commissioned artwork and videos. Not just tracing or painting over them (this probably wouldn't be such a big deal) but literally using the photos or parts of them as they were. She could have bought some of them, but on at least one illustration featured in the just be friends artbook, the stock image logo roughly drawn out was found behind Luka. It is indeed a cautionary tale. As artists we should make sure our sources are okay to be used. All of this probably happened because she was a young girl trying to get into the manga business. Keep in mind that books with photos are sold in Japan to be used in manga for references and literally to be cut from the pages for backgrounds, so it is very likely she didn't know any better. On a lighter note, some 2channers speculate that she had a happy ending; a few years ago, a shoujo manga artist called Hiro Chihiro was discovered, with her artstyle being strikingly similar to hers, and with works on Margaret comics. So she is doing fine and her dream came true
It's that fine line between referencing and tracing that honestly steered me away from digital arts in the first place. I always have this odd, sinking feeling that whenever I want to draw something, the art I use for reference, or learn how to draw certain things, will be pointed out by the community and be accused of plagiarism. Blatant plagiarizing deserves it, but this? This is what turns me off from drawing. How can I get creative when people would do this to me?
I was there when the Yunomi-P incident blew. I remember watching a JP VOCALOID fan vid at NND called "Just Be Traced" when everything is going down. I feel like Setsuna's story, a character from Re:Creators is heavily inspired by the Yunomi-P incident...
I don't understand why people care so much about this, its like they were jealous of her success so they targeted her and harassed her into silence. I would have understood it if it was actually reasonable, but this was insane and terrible. Plagiarism is a problem, but this was completely different, this just highlighted our modern day problems on the internet in general.

i do believe she shouldve changed and made the references a bit more unique, and i think using no alterations references are an issue, but overall i still think this wouldve been fine(except the paid no alteration) referencing, poses, backgrounds, i think copying those are all fine. and honestly when it comes to copyright, i think copyright is too strict these days.
Im sorry but this is so dumb, idk if copyright laws are different in japan but most of those were stock images 💀💀you know, stuff intended to be used by artists and graohic designers?
Copyright law is a lot more strict in Japan. Stock images can be used but only if people pay for them and different sites have different rules for commercial use.

Oh no, the horror, using stock images. It's not like every other artist on the planet does that already. I guess this goes to show that even back in the day there were people that enjoyed making big deals over the smallest of things because they had nothing better to do.
Her PVs are like slideshows for different art, and she used a ton of stock pictures for her art. So yes, the PV is plastered with copyrighted materials.
I see absolutely nothing wrong with this... Artists aren't masters at drawing everything by memory, it's not wrong to use references... I think they were too harsh on her, literally every artists uses stock image references :(

I've actually been trying to make a video on this topic for a while but never got around to it, since my yt channel is not that related. Glad someone made this. Good video but like others said, too loud lol
i think referencing is fine and using stock images is perfectly fine too as long as they are free license, but straight up tracing and claiming it as your own is not. even i do this. as an artist, you are free to do what you want, but you must always be transparent. if someone is able to see your reference art by comparing it to your actual art, you should own up to it if you havent already outright said you heavily referenced it.
man, this is a POSE it is impossible to be totally original and not to have any art with similar pose. But the composition itself is different and original. But it is totally different when you simply put the entire image with some filter there
My fav songs... no wonder i dont even realize this, that time, in my country, internet is new thing. And i dont have internet access like now. Btw thanks for the info
It is tracing and theft in a way. She has gained money from tracing other peoples work and as an artist I understand why people were so angry. But her art was never the reason I fell in love with her music as a kid. I like her music not her art. This was a situation that could have been fixed. Hell it can still be fixed. If I was in a situation like this, after an apology I would donate money and buy works from the artists I traced from. And continue making music with commissioned artwork made by other people. It wouldn’t make everyone happy but it would get some people interested in her work again. I’m sad she decided to leave.
i understand that the japanese copyright system is different and more strict and i don't condone her actions however. there are MAJOR weirdos in the vocaloid scene and they were worried about someone tracing photos? which again, she shouldn't have done that but going as far as to doxx her and harass the producers she had worked with while literal lolicons were actively producing songs at the same time is insane to say the least
Can I just say... Miyashita Yuu's koufukuron is basically Kikuo's O Light. I mean, off-topic, but I dunno where to say this, and nobody's seen that imagery yet.
4:48 doesn't Google Reverse Image search already long existed back then before even Google Lens brand comes in? I remember I often accidentally used that when dragging some pictures in Google Images
I agree with everyone here like I wouldn’t say “plagiarism” is the right word most of her art seemed to heavily use references and I don’t doubt her as an artist because she does have skill but if you want to put your work for commercial use then yeah don’t trace but you can reference other images, I’m sorry but whoever is Japanese I don’t agree with your strictness with using a reference like y’all are reaching 💀
Well, its understandable that what she does might cause outrage but its blowing out of proportion, the situation can be saved, but i guess human being human
I don't know if she stole them, but it's supicious with that amount of stockimages she used. They (so far understood it) stated that their stockimages cannot be differently/changed, what Yuno did. She broke a contract and stole them. Which is not ok. Just because images are out in the internet, doesn't mean they are free real estate. If Yuno promised use stock images that were free to use instead, it would've been better. They didn't had to throw away their skills like that. some people are built different and we just have to accept that. however, we live in a society and we can't simply steal other people's work illy nillingly like that. we have to come to a compromis. the compromis being that she uses her skills legally.
Let's be real for two second here: At that time, vocaloid fanbase was complete garbage. Still kinda is tbh, but that was the stupidiest shit to get mad for. And it's not the only time this fanbase acted so stupidly for something not meaningful. I'm glad I wasn't a part of the fanbase at the time.
