    always tack the top first . fitting will not fall off by its own weight

    Wrong you can't get roll of a 45 with a top and side tack, has to be opposite side tack to achieve proper 45 pitch and roll

    Could do without the music in the backround.

    I'm skeptical if that really is an accurate way to get the elbow straight.. if the spirit level is not exactly in line with the pipe it can give a false reading.

    always fit 45s to the side

    • @BeJesus29

      Why should you fit 45 to the side? As long as pipe is level, it shouldnt be a problem, correct?

    • @thedaftcoont
      @thedaftcoont 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      On the side allows you to check the plumb of the elbow face, as well, the face to side of pipe 135°
      Much more accurate.

      @@thedaftcoont but if you have no high low and the elbow is right at a 45 and the other piece is perfectly level isn’t it the same thing? My only thought to why fitting to side would be better is if the elbow face isn’t perfectly square. Also what did you mean by checking the 135? I’m not a pipefitter by any means just looking for some info. Thanks

      @@cakefartrpg2280 If you're sticking the 45 on a random, squared off pipe end and there is no/ tolerable high/low, then fitting the elbow in the vertical would be okay provided your bevels are square to each other.
      However, if the elbow has to sit at a specific orientation, fitting on the side is more accurate and fitter friendly.
      Example: you're fitting a 45 elbow onto a RFWN flange,
      You would clamp the flange with it's two hole is level and face plumb.
      Fit the 45 elbow sideways.
      Using level to roll elobow either way to ensure the face is plumb while checkinghigh/low.
      Once plumb, tack top & bottom.
      Double check plumb.
      If good, measure the elbow face horizontally to the flange face.
      Depending what side you check ( throat of elbow or back of elbow), you should get 45° or 135° (180 - 45 = 135) to insure square.
      I hope this novel helps.
      All the best 👍

      @@thedaftcoont what do you mean if the elbow has to sit at a specific orientation? I guess fitting it to the side would be better because the elbow will lay/rest easier on a pipe stand compared to doing it in the vertical position. Are you saying if you were to fit a RFWN onto the elbow after this it is easier to two hole it with it on its side?

    Why bottom tack is first? What if up tack is first performed?

    • @TECHNICALPIPING
      @TECHNICALPIPING  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      sure.. you can tack top side also.but bottom easy for further alignment and tacking.

  • @pauldpa6359
    @pauldpa6359 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    You didn't check to see if it was going to "dog leg" before tacking on the side and you never check for "high-low" in your videos.

    I thought you couldnt level a 45 like that unless you had angle iron or put the 45 on the side but idk

    Kinda d*CK move making welder hit the bottom first lol

    • @Ryan-wb6ne
      @Ryan-wb6ne 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      How? It needs to be tacked there regardless and when you tack the bottom first, it’s easier to adjust the pipe from the top before you put the top tack on.
