I've had this thing for a while now, and i have no complaints. It's great!! There are no issues at all with backbdrag or anything else with this ratcheting screwdriver set. I also opened it up and dropped a couple of drops of super lube oil on the gear set. Smooth as butter!!
Everyone complaining about the back drag on the ratchets have yet to put them through their paces in a professional shop, everyone except Jeff’s garage adventures.
Backdrag wasn't even a thing in any of the reviews a few years ago 😂. No one cared for the metric, everyone was just about how strong the ratchet was, or how smooth it sounded.
Coming from the era when 36 tooth ratchets were the norm, there was always a certain amount of back drag. You founds ways of dealing with it. Ratchets need to be broken in and will loosen up over a period of constant use. Periodic cleaning and lubing keeps a ratchet mechanism running smoothly. With the advent of the high tooth ratchets with fine teeth and low arc swing, people have come to expect a minimal amount of back drag. The problem with the V Series ratchets is that there is no way to disassemble and service them. The only course of action is to soak the head in ATF and hope it seeps into the mechanism.
@@mlieser1230 no need to explain we know. What we are saying is, the backdrag thing is overblown. Also no one even mentioned it until a few years ago when science and measurements testing became a thing. What everyone cared about was strength.
I mean they gotta be broken in before they operate at there intended purpose and if you read manual it says after several hours it will broken in and is at its best
Cool. This was delivered a couple of hours ago. It's not too shabby. I really like the feel of the T-handle mode and the stubby with storage is cool. The long bits are good for low access situations (like a regular screwdriver) and you can store the other bit holder on the shaft. Also, as you mentioned, the packaging is silly, they could have made a compact holder for the drawer.
I have quite a few different Japanese tools from 5 or 6 of their domestic brands. Vessel has some of the best screwdrivers, bits, and even L-keys I've ever used. I also have some tools from Tone, Koken, IPS pliers, Engineer, Trusco, and others. I've been impressed and very satisfied with Japanese tool quality since discovering their stuff this last year.
I've been really happy with both this ratcheting screwdriver and the screwdriver set - the ratchet lives in the in the to-go tool bag, the full set live in the garage.
Overall I really agree 👍🏼. One of the bits got stuck in on mine so I replaced it (I think it was the p2). Definitely my current favorite screw driver. Thanks for the video.
You won't regret doing the Japanese tools at all. My bag use to be 30% usa 50% German and 20% other coos but that has changed and the quality is really good 👍. Now it's 40% japan 30% German 10% Taiwan 10% usa. If you like wera laser tips vessel makes a collaboration with them to get ball grip with laser tips. I hate to say I like the wera vessels more than just vessel themselves. Brands to try fujia kurokin (black and gold line not standard) lobster (great cheap adjustable wrenches) tsunoda (great cutters and cross cuts) Marvel (amazing cross cuts) vessel screwdrivers and bits Annex (amazing racheting screwdriver under 20 bucks great bits) ebisu levels (all made in japan) tajima (best chalk lines and snap knives fantastic tape measures) tone (middle of the toad good prices tiny 3/8s and half inch drive rachets). That should get you going down a rabbit hole but online I can get most of these Japanese tools cheaper than what I can in big box stores for China stuff. I'll take quality for cheap price any day and plus your money is going to japan not the big C.
I bought the V series double box end flex head ratcheting wrench set and on the very first use the ratchet ring and Spring clip shot right out of the wrench. Cannot fix it and Lowe's won't take it so you have to do the warranty through the mail. Nervous about the rest of the sets I bought.
i have had a couple ratcheting screw drivers (gifts) and never used the ratchet function. your wrist is making the same movement all i do is loosen my grip as i twist my wrist. these just seem really gimmicky.
@@scotthayward996 I don’t have either of those but it was far beyond my expectations and I would venture to guess it would be on par with the snap-on/williams ratcheting screwdrivers
the plastic is not for storarge 😅, its just how it comes. The driver is from facom. Forget what model exactly, they have two other models. The facom version has nicer plastic and a much nicer bit blade. Fiy you can buy it by itself.

Japanese hand tools have amazing quality. Vessel, Anex, Tone and Koken are all too notch imo

I have the same screwdriver set! I love mine! Great video!
Years ago they came out with a set of Phillips and straight. I’m going to get this version.

@@user-lg2jm9zg6l I ordered the V-Series screwdriver set from Amazon, I’ll post a review on it soon, it looks pretty nice
Grabbed one after seeing this video. Gonna return the other $15 t handle kit thats on sale from craftsman. great vid.

Use magnets and store the extra bits on the sidewall of the drawer

I think it's decent for $20, but they should have provided it with a case. There is no way your going to keep that all together long term.
A nice thin case would be perfect
Mueller-Kuep 706-070 is very similar to this, but the kit falls short imo.
Do you know How is this tool compared to the snap on ,or Williams racheting screwdriver.?

Go get a snap on or williams and get back with us@@PrestigeWhirlwide
Not a bad driver for $20. If a storage case was included the price would be double.

The V-series tools made in France are the best. The ratchets are sad. Craftsman Online is a scam.
Why buy this? is there reason you would use this instead of tools that you already own???
@@drdanbhcmg it was hard to pass up at $20. I really like it and I don’t have that many ratcheting screwdrivers. Thanks for watching!
