  • "The city of Uvalde has agreed to pay its insurance of $2 million, which is all that there was."
Nineteen families whose loved ones were killed or hurt in the Uvalde, Texas, mass shooting announced they've reached a settlement with the city and county of Uvalde.
The attorney representing the families spoke about the deadly day, saying, "We all saw what we saw ... It was a heroic act, 77 minutes late."

“Tragedy & Truth In Uvalde”, a poem
    Slaughter raging.
    Children pleading for rescue.
    Time was of the essence.
    What did the officers do?
    They showed little urgency.
    Officer safety.
    That was their highest priority.
    While the gunman’s bullets flew.
They knew what they should do.
    But they chose not to.
While blood flowed fast & free.
    Lives lost in tragedy.
    In the death rooms.
    In Uvalde.
The truth the whole world can see.

Not just 1 or 2 students died which in itself would have been tragic, but 2 whole classes coldly murdered at such innocent stages in their lives. Not only that but the parents had to listen to each shot taking a life and the parents were held outside the school at gun point by the officers so they couldnt even try to attempt to protect their babies. What a disgusting thing. It's beyond tragic. No amount of money can replace even one of those poor babies let alone wipe away the torment and heartache the parents face every second of everyday. 💔💔

Why haven't the cops and specifically their chief been charged criminally? At least for cowardice. Some jurisdictions do have such charge. Shame on them. When I heard some senior officials from the concerned police department saying the officers priority was to make sure officers safety were ensure first, my jaw dropped. I mean WTF!
Why would the citizens of Uvalde PAY police officers to make sure the police officers' safety was ensured BEFORE they'd march into danger to ensure the safety of the citizens of Uvalde?
Wasn't the SAFETY OF THE PUBLIC, first & last, the very reason why citizens pay professionally trained people in the first place?
If police officers first & last concern was their own safety BEFORE they'd go into danger, for the public.... then why bother getting into a patrol car, when they hear, say, 911 calls... when they could simply sit tight in their safe & comfortable offices, from 9AM to 5PM... and then return home. That would guarantee 100% safety for police officers!
Anyway, back to reality, a tragic reality: ---
Seeing a dozen plus officers lining up behind each other, in the hallway, a dozen or two meters away from a gunman inside a classroom... one who had killed many & would kill more in the hour plus to come .... with none of them willing to face that lone gunman..... for up to 70 minutes(?)... with everyone waiting for "direction" from the chief or waiting for bullet proof shields or waiting for Jesus or his Virgin Mother to teleport down to save them(?) --- with chief on vacation(?) and with his temporary replacement with them saying HE was awaiting further direction from the STATE police or Santa Claus(?) --- it's one of the most horrific and tragic events I've ever seen on TV....

If these were all white children from a wealthy community, do you SERIOUSLY believe they would’ve even offered that pathetic amount? The kicker is what attorney Josh Koskoff said:
"These families could have pursued a lawsuit against the city, and there's certainly grounds for a lawsuit," Koskoff said. "Let's face it, sadly, we all saw what we saw … but instead of suing the city and jeopardizing the finances of anybody, the families have accepted simply the insurance."

It's not enough, but any litigation is hard on the families. Suing the state and federal governments should be more lucrative. I hope that also comes with laws being changed. Kids shouldn't be sitting ducks because the powers that be think it should be easier to get a high-powered rifle than an education.
