    The saddest thing is when I was in China back in 2008 so many couples were adopted baby girls . What they didn’t know was that the families didn’t want to give their little girls up for adoption but they had to . They could only keep one child and they kept the boy to help on the farm. 😢

    • @aznmochibunny
      @aznmochibunny 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +58

      Boys weren't kept to help with the farm. Boys were kept because they held value over girls because it is a long held belief all over Asia that boys continue the family legacy. That's why when push came to shove, girls were given up instead.

      My family adopted my first Chinese sister back in 2008, and we were definitely aware of what was going on. My sister was abandoned on the steps of the orphanage. They actually had to make abandonment legal in China because mothers were throwing their babies away. We have a lot of empathy for what was going on there, and the families who still won’t get a chance to have more kids due to age even though the one child law is gone now. Also, there were ten families in our group when we went that year, and half of them adopted girls while the other half adopted boys. Boys get the shaft there was well.

    This is such a great & touching story! Reminds me of my adoption/meeting bio family story. I was adopted by my adoptive parents at 3 days old but met my biological family when I was 11. It was an open adoption luckily and I initiated the meeting. My adoptive parents understood I felt lost & needed to find them and experience my culture. I have 4 biological siblings, one older and 3 younger but didn’t know about them since I was the only one put up for adoption. I am lucky to have grown up with my siblings from being a tween since we live 30 mins away. It’s a blessing to have both sets of my parents and my siblings at the dinner table. My bio mom was looking at another family that lived in Colorado that wanted a closed adoption so I could never look for them. It’s a miracle it worked out and my parents and siblings all get along wonderfully! Im 26 now and I don’t know what I’d do without them!

    Twins sisters and only getting to see each other 2x a year? 😢 Being valedictorian in 2 different schools? Amazing 👏

    I'm happy to see how well both girls are doing. I remember the first time they were on. I'm a mom of twins and I personally think it should be illegal to separate multiples. As infants my twins were inconsolable if they were in different beds. As toddlers they spoke for one another. I separated them in school but they managed to have the same friend groups all the way through high school. They had the same first job. And moved 1700 miles apart as adults. Their bond can never be broken, and it's been amazing to witness it.

    It's nice to see that both families were on the same page. Making sure they remained a part of one another's lives. It kind of sucks that they weren't able to move closer to one another. I can't help but imagine them still feeling like they were robbed of a life together. It's better than not meeting at all but if I found out that I had a twin at that age and we were forced to live apart I can't imagine what that would feel like. Too bad they're not going to college together or closer together. Now that they can see one another when ever they want.

    I was also adopted from China when I was a baby, and I’m living in the U.S. like them too. I know nothing about my past nor do I remember my life in China as a baby before I was adopted. I’ve always wondered what my birth parents looked like and if I have a sibling or even a twin. I don’t know if I’ll ever know, but it would be cool if that opportunity comes up.
