Your video was the most help we could find. We saw no information about separation of the fuse box, any special instructions, and the connectors at the bottom of this fusible link. All in all, we finished and everything worked again.
Not enough thanks to you BrokenWrench. My wife car stuck in a ski resources in Alberta. A good Samaritan boosted her car and caused the car died completely with all warning symbols on. The battery and the alternator have been replaced with new ones but the new battery cannot be charged. Found two blades fuses burnt out and the 120A fusible block is open too. Already ordered a new fusible block from Toyota, will do it in the garage as per your very detailed video. Thanks again.
Thank you so much for your video I don’t have a Toyota but I happen to have a Pontiac vibe and the alternator wasn’t charging the battery. Nobody could tell me what was wrong and then I ran across your video and it helped me tremendous so God bless and have a blessed day.
Thank you for the vid! You make me feel guilty that when I figure something out I don't post a video to help others. My buddy was pretty upset with the design of getting this fuse out and you saved the day.
I cannot thank you ENOUGH! My 2008 Scion Xb had the same problem (busted Fuse link). Towed it home for $125.00. I am no mechanic but I followed everything that you did and was able to pull out the sucker (Fuse link). Went to Scion dealer and got it for $53.00. You saved me hundreds of $$$$$s. A good samaritan jumped my battery incorrectly at a Walmart parking garage. It was my fault anyway. lol.
Question for you, uploader. Did this problem cause the electric power steering, ABS, airbag, brake indicators to come on and your transmission to be stuck in park? Just replaced the alternator on a 2009 corolla like this and now the above listed problems have cropped up.
Joseph Did you ever figure out what caused your problem? I just replaced a battery on the same car and having the same symptoms you had and am not sure what to do.
can't thank you enough for your demonstration coming from your bottom of your heart who helped and you didn't skip a bit anything at all you want people to succeed in the project and you explained it plenty time to prove it I thank you very much for being so kind and so nice take your time and go to the 9 yard thank you
thanks, saved me a lot time from trying to figure out this jigsaw puzzle. hardest part was separating the fuse box from the lower half, i used a screw driver and twisted it until the tabs lifted away. the tabs stayed lifted away (unlocked) long enough for me to separate the two halves.
Roland Llanes what was the reason you replaced it? Strictly battery purpose? I’m getting no response from a diagnostic test(machine won’t read) and my abs/ power steering light is on
This was incredibly helpful!!! I blew this fuse by crossing the jumper cables! I’m really hopeful that this fuse is the only damage done! But right now I can clearly see that the ALT 120V fuse is fried clean off. Thank you for creating this video!
OMG! You know how long I searched for a vid explaining taking out this fuse?! BTW I used it for the EPS as it's in the same box. There are several in there not just the alt! Much Gracias!
You are a life saver, thank you so much. Looking at your video, i think you might not need to dismantle so many parts. I think the Japanese split the fuse box into a upper and lower component. So when you released all the upper box clips from the lower box. it should slide up easily. I will test this myself. Cheers
Did you figure out whether or not that was true? I have a sneaking suspicion that my fuse link might be blown, but I'd like to avoid tearing apart my whole fuse box if I can.
Well thanks for that. I wish I did get a lot but I don’t. I am working on getting more videos that help get your cars back on the road and not just dumb videos that seem to be caked on TH-cam
Pontiusrepairs1 GENIUS!!! GREAT JOB!!! Thanks for the video. Saved big $$$. Got fusible link from Toyota dealer for $37 plus tax. Part # 82620-12280 for 2012 Corolla To everyone commenting on where the video begins. Watch the whole video. He shows how everything goes back together. Disassemble in reverse order. I have the same story as others, jumpers hooked up backwards. Fried this fusible link, (2) 15A fuses, and (1) 10A fuse. All 3 small fuses were in engine compartment fuse box. None were blown under steering wheel. Your experience may be different so check every fuse (pain in the butt). The hardest part, for me, was releasing all the clip-tabs that hold the black fuse box together, but be patient and work all the tabs loose and it will separate. I only had to cut one zip tie on the wiring harness to get the clearance I needed. Thanks again!!
i wonder if it's safe to cut off those 2 black arches going above the white block. i just need to take a look inside, but the transparent plastic cover for the white block is yellowed and i can't see inside very well. those arches are blocking the cover f rom opening
Hey man, thanks for the video. It legit helped me replace the link on my wife's 09 scion xb. Her battery was jumped incorrectly and blew the link. I have a question: after replacing the battery and the link, the car cranks but does not start. None of the dash lights up, no a/c, or radio. But the key fob works for locking the doors, the headlights turn on. I haven't checked all the fuses, just replaced the battery and link. Any ideas? Thanks again.
but how would i check the 50amp fuse in the white tray with the clear plastic top that slides out of the bottom of that bigger black fuse unit ? and why would they make it so hard to get to? I need to check the blower heater fan 50 amp fuse
I want to install a kill switch to my Corolla, exactly same model as the one shown here in the video, do you have a video tutorial on how to access the fuel pump? thanks.
After the 3 bolts on the fuse box are there tabs that you have to snap out. I've got everything off but the fuse box. I've took the 4 bolts but something is still holding it??
Hello! Thanks for the video! Any insight on where to find the Circuit Opening Relay for the Fuel Pump? I have a 2010 LE and I'm having some trouble finding it so I can replace it. I'm currently trying to get to the upper part of the interior fusebox via the steering column. Any help is appreciated. Thanks!
Hey did someone break that fwd bar thinking that you could pull the clear cover? My electric steering, 60amp and my airbag lit is on...Oh I forgot my alt when out, coasted into the drive way.
How do you test the Fusible Link to know it is bad before you pull it out? I have a 2010 Toyota Corolla same set up. I have a battery light on and my Alternator has already been replaced and I have a new battery and the alternator is not charge the battery still. I dont know what else it could be.
What was your reason for changing it out? I have a 2010 Toyota Matrix. I changed the alternator now I have no power steering , turn signals , ac, break lights and I can’t shift it out of park unless I push the safety release bottom right above park
Sounds like you left the battery hooked up when you changed the alternator and the cables crossed or touched metal when you disconnect the old one..you blew this fuse
Nice Video 👍🏿 I'm Emmanuel from Nigeria, i am confused i need help, i gave my 2009 Toyota Corolla to someone to fix a car tracker, after fixing it i started see the battery red light on the dash, he made some troubleshooting and concluded that the Alternator is not working that i need to get a new one, what do you think
hi I have corolla 2010: ABS, Steering, Brake and Tire Pressure Lights All On; Cannot Shift Out of Park - my question is, it have to be relate to Fuse Box.......
Hi Jose, I hope you can read this. I am having same problems as yours. How did you end up fixing it? Same question to whoever had this before. Thanks so much.
My car is also a 2009. The power steering light just turned on my car this morning ,which is represented by a steering wheel next to an exclamation mark. I believe it's the fuse ,but I'm not sure.
Hola Pablo. I have the same problem with the Electric Power Steering warning light. What did you end up doing; Did you replace the Power Steering ECU or just the Fuse Link (white box) ?
Are the abs fuses included in this link? I have an abs issue with my vehicle and this is the spot where the 50A and 30A fuses look too be. Thanks for the video.
I have to admit that I wish you would have done this video from start to finish. Maybe I’m just an idiot but I can’t get the housing completely detached.
This seems like they've purposely designed this to be difficult to replace. Infuriating. I've scoured the internet trying to find how to replace this fuse bus and everywhere I look just tells me to take it to a mechanic, so thank you. It's as if knowing how to repair your own car these days is some sort of forbidden knowledge
Ya that's what I said. I mean they could've had a couple of wire and a middle fuse to blow so it wouldn't blow the link. Or at least put in in an easy place and not hard to remove? This is common. They just want you to go to the dealership and sell your soul to fix it. I'm working on my but he's obviously broken a lot to get to it.
Thank you for the information It was very helpful. My only complaint, and is a very small complaint, not enough volume. It is hard to hear on my phone on max volume
Hey I have a 2013 with that same little box within the fuse box. My ABS light is on and I believe it's a fuse issue. The ABS fuse is in that little box, can I replace that one fuse or do I have to replace the whole thing? Also, how easy is it for a beginner to do 😅
I think i may currently have a similar issue. Did replacing the fuse box resolve your issue? I've seen some guidance on replacing the ECU or ABS actuator but both are $$.
After all the work is done? He showed what & where the fuse is, what & how to remove it. Explained by detail how to put it back together. Only thing i can think of that he left out was how to unlock & open the hood. Video helped me lots

Thanks for recording this excellent video. Your wrench is not broken.
