    I don't know if you do this but after you apply your leave in place a plastic cap on your hair for about 10 minutes or more to help your leave in absorb into your hair. This also help to make your hair softer.

    This is oil rinsing. Been doing the exact same thing. Some people rinse the DC then apply the oil or rinse with the oil then use the dc. For me it always made more sense apply the dc then use the oil to seal and add slip. In addition the dc will help not having that greasy feel. Some of the oil molecule will go with the DC when you rinse it. I don t use that amount of oil and it still works as. I like my wash to be quick and effective. I found the best time for me to use that method is during spring... I prefer to make an hot oil treatment prior to my cleansing step in winter.
    Your hair has grown a lot and look super healthy so I think your hair loved it. 😊💕

    I don’t oil rinse…but as the first step in my wash routine. I wet my hair with aloe vera and oil (or a homemade whipped butter) and then use heat for 20-30 min. Game changer for my wash day….i can’t miss this step or i notice my hair is way drier at the end of my wash.

    I did not realize I was oil rinsing as a pre poo. Every week on wash day, I wet my hair and massage the oil in my hair and scalp. I leave it in for 30 minutes. I rinse my hair out and then I shampoo and follow with a conditioner. I put the conditioner on and follow up with an oil. Afterwards, I sit under the dryer on low heat for 30 minutes. Then I rinse it all out and style my hair in two strand twist. I keep a great hold on my hair for the week by styling with oil first, follow with a moisturizer; then a butter. And last step is a gel. Rarely, do I wear wash and goes. Love your channel.

    I do the oil rinse as the final rinse by itself (I’m high porosity by the way). Always with castor oil and it’s excellent; just a tiny bit does the job. I mean like a pea size drop or two for whole head.

      I’ve just discovered that the centre front section of my hair from the middle of my forehead to my crown is high porosity, whereas the rest of my hair is very low porosity🤔, so I just wanted to ask you if you apply the oil on soaking wet hair please, and do you use warm water whilst oil rinsing or cold first to close the cuticles? I’ve been scouring YT all week for info on High porosity natural hair, and sadly there’s not that much info available, SO ANY tips you can give me will be MUCH appreciated, coz this particular section of hair is VERY dry, breaks easily, and is forever standing on end puffing up crying out for more moisture, so I wanna try using this method today and see it makes any difference

    Your hair is gorgeous and thriving. I really give props to you for trying out new things and sharing what works and what doesn’t. This was my go to weekly routine when I went into the office everyday. Working from home I keep it in twists with ends tucked to avoid those fairy knots.🤦🏽‍♀️ I mixed a similar concoction of 6 oils Jojoba, Caster, Grapeseed, Apricot, Almond and Avocado with a tiny tiny splash if Glycerin in a bottle. I washed my hair in sections then applied the deep conditioner and on top of that liberally applied the oil to each section and loosely twisted it. I put on a plastic cap and finished my shower. The steam acted as my heat source. I rinsed with semi warm water, but left a very light coating of the oil in. I sectioned and twisted with Coconut Curling Cream by Eden BW, and their leave in conditioner. Sometimes I would add a little of the Shea Moister Detangling lotion. That routine allowed me to wear my hair out for work daily and keep the fairy knots and tangles at bay. I have low porosity, 4a-4b curls, very fine strands with lots of kinks and bends so knots and tangles are the norm. I washed on Saturday and yep it was sometimes slightly damp on Monday if I washed it late on Saturday, but I would take it down anyway. I didn’t fluff my twists just untwisted one time and let them swell with wear. I pulled them up into a pineapple at night and wrapped it to keep in moisture and prevent frizz and tangles. I needed that twist out to last 7 days.😅

    Maybe laying down a towel on the shower floor will help with the slipping! I've not tried that myself because I'm only just hearing of oil rinsing but it might help to soak up excess oil and give you more traction. I believe they also make textured plastic bath mats to help with traction and slipping as well if you don't want to dirty up towels!

    I rarely use conditioner. I use oils that penetrate my hair, avocado, olive and coconut oils for starters, and use castor oil on the ends to stop the ends from knotting up, then I rinse slightly to get the excess off. Dry, slap my hair into a ponytail and wrap a scarf around it as I walk out the door. The scarf helps my hair by soaking up the excess moisture and it keeps my hair in place. The oil seals in the water, the best moisturizer there is.

    My best bet is to steam once a week using oils/butter/honey and a great conditioner and put it up! Cannot worry about length anymore.

      If your hair is constantly breaking off it'll appear as though it's growing very slow. With healthy hair you'll retain length. You don't have to worry but, you should be very concerned and find out why your hair is breaking like that. Check out TH-camr Green Beauty, she gets into the science of hair. • @pameladavis895
      @pameladavis895 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@sable7114 The oil rinsing has helped me to recognize what moisturized hair feels like. It's not an oily slick to the "hand" but my strands feel pliable (if that makes sense to you). It's not mushy soft but my strands feel stronger (if that makes sense to you)!

    • @sable7114
      @sable7114 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@pameladavis895 I think it does you are saying that it's not greasy which is what I hate. I want it moisturized but not greasy. When I first went natural I must have overdone something because I went to the doctor and when I got off of the paper cover on the table there was a round circle greasy enough to fry some chicken in and I was so embarrassed! So is that what you mean that you can touch your hair and touch paper without messing up your paper or your document or your thank-you note or your letter or whatever?🤔😅😊

    Dang I wish I saw this video before I washed my hair this evening lol I did do a pre poo with olive oil but it didn’t do much. When I was in my early 20s I would oil my hair regularly when they were in braids for full weaves with an applicator bottle. Didn’t really know if that was doing good or not because I was still very new to learning about my hair now I’m older and many years of trial and error later I recently learned that I have to penetrate the heck out of my hair with oil in order to get it soft and to help moisturize it. This video basically confirmed my theory. Thank you so much for the tips. I look forward to the next wash day.

My coils aren’t as dense as yours nor do I have your length (yet 🤩) so I don’t think I need to add the oil by itself. I’ll try adding to my DC and if I don’t get the results I’m expecting I’ll try adding oil directly to my coils. I also just purchased a shower mat that has a drain hole in it just for my hair wash days cause sis Yasss that shower floor is getting slippery with all the herbs and powders and hair masks I be putting on my coils 🤪

    Love this and I’ll definitely be trying this for my low porosity hair. How often do you trim your hair?

    Just a tip - try using the Felicia Leatherwood brush virtually first. I don't have as much hair as you 😂 but I find it's easier.

    I’m confused if you’re low porosity hair not drying for 2-3 days is kinda the norm depending on density …are you sure that more sections of your hair aren’t more high porosity than low ?

    I have a question for you,. Is washing my hair weekly is that too much for C4 hair?

    Maybe I will try it once but I am concerned with that much oil going down the drain.

      I’m no plumber so I can confirm, but I don’t think oils that are liquid at room temp will be any issue (like olive and grapeseed). Coconut oil will definitely clog your drain, especially if you live somewhere cold. I haven’t oil rinsed in years, but I’ve done it before as part of my routine and my drain was fine.

    I’d like to try this but the thought of having oil all over my body makes it a big fat nope😭
