  • If Santiago is the financial and business hub of Chile then the coastal city of Viña del Mar is the country’s summer playground. Often referred to as “The Garden City”, Viña is part of the Greater Valparaiso area that also includes the nearby port city of Valparaiso, as well as the smaller municipalities of Concon, Quilpue, and Villa Alemana.

We retired in Viña del Mar and we love it!. We don't need a car here as everything is within walking distance.

Hey man, that's awesome! I have been living abroad for close to two years (Quetzaltenango Guatemala) and in January and going to move to a new country. I have been heavily considering Valparaiso! is there anything you wish you knew before moving there good or bad?
do you mind if I ask you a couple questions about the place and what living there is like?

The north of Chile is just too dry for me. We love the green south which is like Switzerland. Less dust and cooler temps and green all year round. It is more like Oregon or Washington state but not as cold or as hot.

Valpo is a mess due to graffitti.
