In terms of traction, as long as they're being worn on soft ground, I would say no. In terms of getting stepped on, I definitely think they're more dangerous.

If you play on soft ground regularly enough, I think they're worth it. They'll typically last quite a while as long as you wear them exclusively on soft ground.

If you like tight fitting boots, you'll likely like the way the Mercurials feel. While they fit tight, they're still designed to fit most people.
