The thing that weirded me out is he never looked like he was running hard. He glided. He could high-step faster than most NFL payers could run. It was insane
Deion came in a Limo to the combine, walked in , drops bag, ran a historic 4.22 in the 40, grabs bag, walks outside to limo, drives away. The best defensive back ever!!!! Prime!! Time!!!
The reason he's not ranked higher is because he really doesn't even rank as high as 34. His showboating is what got him voted higher than he deserved. His personality was perfect for hero creating.
+Rob #GoPackGo #GoLakers #GoDodgers Easily top 20 and top 10 in my opinion. The fact that as a DB (also punt returner and WR at times) he was so dominant just further proves the fact that being at #34 is way off. All those other positions in the top 10 as you pointed out but the fact that as a CB he was so dominant and could literally single handedly change the game just further proves the point.
He is the greatest corner back of all time. I've never seen a corner back shut down the team's best receiver so easily, including the greatest, Jerry Rice. I wish he was ranked much lower.
@um52 if you watched the interviews with him and Jerry rice, he said jerry rice was tough to cover and rice was one of his most respected opponent he ever played against. Both had wins over each other.
I don't even like Deion Sanders. But when I saw that he was put at #34... I laughed so loud and so abruptly that the people walking past flinched and gave me space. Deion Sanders is the best cornerback in history period! Anything outside of top 12 is ludicrous.
Prime is the most complete and athletic football player I ever witnessed to step on the grid. Speed, agility, power, intelligence and first and foremost his instinct. He was a full package. Playin D same as good as O. Scoring TDs in every possible way. And besides that played MLB at the same time on a high level. Even won a baseball and a football game on the same day. He is easily the best corner back of all time and I consider calling him one of the greatest athletes in team sports period.
Devan McClaine ofc i aint hating on primetime u cant u would be a lame to do so im just saying if he atleast tackled like jacktabbit or pat pete he would be complete
The best ever! One of the greatest athletes of all time, and lets not forget how hard it is to hit a major league pitcher and Deion played MLB baseball competently.
Deion highlights are always comprised of his interceptions. I'd love to see a collection of the best of the coverage plays, the effect of which was Deion's side of the field just being completely disregarded by opposing offenses. Seriously, I've seen so many times QB's would be going through 3rd and 4th progressions without even turning to his side.
+Frank Block So because he misspelled defiantly means he's never seen him play? Primetime maybe haven't been good at tackling but he shut down everyone he played against.
Interesting to note and not well known. He had very bad feet problems. Refused surgery as he thought it would end his career. Crossed toes is one problem among others. Saw that in an interview. Played in pain his whole career. My admiration rose on seeing him discuss that. Playing with pain is old school.
#34??? The guy was without question the greatest CB to ever play. He was the true shut down corner. Arguably the greatest return Man. Plus he showed he could be an extremely productive WR. The guy used to let players get free just so they'd throw it to HIS side of the field..... then make up the gap and make the play.
He was actually suppose to do that, it was called a 'loose zone' or something back then. He was basically a free safety that followed the top wide reciever on the other team.
Sports, at the highest levels, is entertainment for all….and although one may argue this or that athlete is more accomplished, no one entertained like Primetime.
Personally, what I love about this is Michael Irvin (A Miami Hurricane) narrating for Deion, an FSU Seminole, when those teams played as hated rivals at top programs during that time.
Yeah Deion definitely deserves to be much higher on this list because he was easily the most electrifying defensive player to ever play the game! He was the definition of what a shutdown CB is and he's only #34 on this list! He's worth a top 10 consideration solely for the impact he had on the game of football and the way the CB position evolved because of him!
I was blessed to see him play on tv when I was a teenager. I knew he was good but it wasn’t until I began doing playing in little league and highschool how talented Deion really was. #34 for the defensive back that revolutionized the game’s marketing and the way cornerbacks play til this day? I doubt there’s a cornerback in a higher position on this list.
Good lord NFL Network. This guy is easily top 10 player ever. Arguably the greatest overall athlete as well. Bo Jackson & Lawrence Taylor is in the discussion also.
Woooow, I think a lot of up coming gifted athletes need to hear what Michael Irvin said over and over again!! Dieon Sanders worked and studied hard. That’s why he was one of the greatest!!
I honestly think he's the greatest athlete ever you know how hard it is the play CB running backwards against the best player's in the league also played in a World Series
name 3 other cornerbacks better??? can't ok name 2 safety or cornerbacks this list has Lott ahead of him. Jerry rice 4 catches 26 yards. Michael Irving 1 catch for 9 yards. Chris Carter 3 catches for 19 yards. Tim brown 2 catches 11 yards. theses are all hall of famers Sanders has 53 interception all time understand for 3 to 5 years no one even looked his way he could have had 84 pics with 32 returned for td this list makes me value deion even more for that greatness i seen
Nicholas Pilot Ik he has less picks than other but that’s because for years quarterbacks would find Deion, then ignore that side of that field the whole game
Ty Law, Night Train Lane, Emmitt Thomas, Rod Woodson, Darrell Green, Mel Blount. You said you wanted safeties too? I'll list some of them too if you want. Rod Woodson and Ty Law are the 2 best cover players ever. Night Train Lane is all over Deion Sanders.
Barry Sanders Deion Sanders LT Brady Montana Rice Jim Brown Walter Peyton Anthony Munoz Reggie White Deacon Jones Larry Allen Bruce Smith Then you can do what you want from there.
Lol Michael Irvin saying throw it fast got to be the funniest part described how mythical Deion Sanders was that he could always make up the ground on coverage.
deion had an intangible that's rare, he had an extra gear for games only, maybe it was an adrenalin rush or a higher metabolism that converts energy... most players have to use performance enhancers but deion had it on tap, almost bionic, like he could calculate how much yardage needed to be covered and his body would simply convert the energy and adrenalin needed to produce that yardage. you could throw out deion's 40, he was faster than that when it was needed. most exciting player i ever saw, he could beat you on offense, defense, or special teams.
nope. unless you listened to him talk. then youd think he is, like many people think Muhammad Ali is the greatest boxer ever. They never saw Jack Johnson, Joe Louis, Max Bear, or Rocky Marciano.
He was born to be an athlete, particularly a 🏈 player. Is his latter years, he has become a great mentor/role model for young men. I respect everything he has represented, and currently represents...
Deion Sanders is the most gifted football player and self promoter in NFL history. He was cocky, but I’ve always been told that it’s not a problem if you can back it up. Deion could back it up and then some.
This man didn't dedicate everything to the sport of football. Instead, he went on to play in the MLB during his NFL break, and is still considered the greatest cornerback ever to embrace this game. I mean, what more can I say?
Saying Deion was a bad tackler so that's why he's not top 15 on here is like saying Shaq was a bad free throw or 3pt shooter so he doesn't deserve to be top 10. When you're so dominant at one thing, that makes up for every shortcoming. Barry Sanders wasn't the best power runner, blocker or receiver, but he was dominant as a runner. This has to be about voters frowning upon Deion's showboat style
exillens Tackling is the most important aspect of defense. Also, Deion was burnt badly by elite receivers throughout his career, especially Rice, who abused him. The number don't like. Deion is overrated.
Flipper Anderson used to roast him all the time as well. Deion was a great cover corner, but this idea that shut down every receiver he ever matched up against is complete bullshit.
#34? C'mon. Greatest cornerback and return man in history. Anything outside of the top 10 is absurd.
Randy Bailin I know right. He's the best in his position. CB! They give him 34?? Wtf sanders is top 20 for sure
Randy Bailin I agree about CB. however return man? I think Devin Hester would have something to say about that
Vinny L well second best then either way he is still the goat corner and deserves a much higher spot
benjie414 That's like asking a dlinemen to be good at zone coverage.
Randy Bailin Hester is the best returner. Sorry try again.
The thing that weirded me out is he never looked like he was running hard. He glided. He could high-step faster than most NFL payers could run. It was insane
"I was kinda scared. I thought Detroit was gonna take me. I would've asked them for so much money they would have to put me on layaway"-Deion Sanders
Deion and barry. Wow. People wouldn't be able to get refreshments.
It would’ve been one or the other. Same draft.
That was a legendary comment!
if Barry had been drafted by the packers then the cowboys would never have had a dynasty and Brett Favre's hand is full of rings like Tom Brady
Well they did take Sanders, just Barry Sanders.
Water covers 75% of the earth. Deion ,covers the rest.
Neil Tipton LOL! fact.
Neil Tipton lmao W
XD
nah. it's kante
Lmao that’s great
34? He was literally the cause of the superbowls he wins a Super Bowl goes to the losing team and wins them the super def top 10-15
Ty Moore yea they tripping tripping

@@siler7 ikr lol
No he is top 5 put some respect on his name
Call me crazy but I have Deion in my top 5, dude was special not mention he may have well been just one of the greatest athletes we’ve ever seen
Deion came in a Limo to the combine, walked in , drops bag, ran a historic 4.22 in the 40, grabs bag, walks outside to limo, drives away.
The best defensive back ever!!!!
Prime!! Time!!!
Imagine believing a story that changes every time it’s told about a dude running 40 yards while being timed by a human and a stopwatch.
the only reason hes not higher is that he showboated too much, and the old men who made this list hate that.
The reason he's not ranked higher is because he really doesn't even rank as high as 34. His showboating is what got him voted higher than he deserved. His personality was perfect for hero creating.
You don't know about many defensive players.
L
Charles Hoffman stop
He don't tackle too high
He should be Top 20 to the least
Most of the guys in the top ten are LBs, QBs, WRs, and maybe HBs

Top 10**

Technically you want him ranked higher. The lower the number the higher the rank.
@@hiramserna5035 You don't Know what you are talking about. Flipper Anderson and Sterling Sharpe used cook him too!
Deion is easily a top 15 player, the greatest corner to ever play football

If you cant step up and make a tackle you cant be a complete player
CloutGod II
He could and did. Just not as good as Rod Woodson. But Deion was unstoppable in coverage
Devan McClaine i seen dion walk pass or whiff alot of tackles foh

Teddy Max nope Sanders has better stats than him
#34 is way too low for a lockdown corner like Sanders. The man caused Super Bowl wins to happen. 🤷🏼♀️
Cricket is my game, but this guy here made me a fan of American football.Dancing for a long long long touchdown. 😬😬🍺
whoa... #34 ??
Isn't that kind of low ?
VERY low
He made a little stink about it when it back when it aired
+uncensored008 I remember lol
Not for someone who didn't tackle.
Paul Johnson ok... now that is a solid point. Agreed.
Easily the GOAT.
Not even a question.
+DrNuggetFTW A steelers fan proved you wrong lmao
Agreed
Stop...the man didn't like to hit...or to get hit...all flash...total fraud!!!
Jim Cushman Still locked down every #1 receiver he had to face. I'd take a cover corner over a physical corner ANY day
He's by far the greatest player at the most difficult position in football and he's only 34th.
Deion highlights are always comprised of his interceptions. I'd love to see a collection of the best of the coverage plays, the effect of which was Deion's side of the field just being completely disregarded by opposing offenses. The best CB of all time. End of. Possibly the greatest athletic player in any sports' history.
He is the greatest in my opinion because all he can do on the field offense, defense, special teams he A+ in all 3 categories
Irvin:”He didn’t rest on his gifts.” That sounds a lot like Randy Moss.
El jugador más versátil que jamás he conocido en la NFL!

Lol Michael Irvin saying throw it fast got to be the funniest part described how mythical Deion Sanders was that he could always make up the ground on coverage.
