Even today, local people work day and night to find gold pieces from the river basin. Once they collect some, they sell it to earn their livelihood. Gold is considered a precious metal, and people wear gold jewelry at every function. While most gold comes from mines, today we’ll talk about this unique river where gold is also found.
This river is called the Swarnarekha River. Here, people focus more on collecting small pieces of gold than on fishing. That's right-in the state of Jharkhand, this river is very famous, and it is also known locally as Nanda Nadi.
This river is a well-kept secret for the people of Jharkhand. It not only provides water and fish but also yields pieces of gold. In the river basin, locals regularly find gold pieces. Each morning, they come to the river to search for gold, it's like a routine work for them - making this a full-time job for many families.
This river flows through Jharkhand, West Bengal, odisha. Covering a distance of 474 km approx.
There are areas like Tamar and Saranda located right beside the river, which are known for their gold mines. This is why gold is found in the Swarnarekha River.
A branch of this river, known as the Karkari River, also sees the same activity. People come here during the day and spend the entire day collecting pieces of gold from the river.
DOnt think gold is available in ample amounts. No - its very less.Max they can find 8-10 small pieces if a person works for 10-12 hours daily he will be able to earn around Rs1000 a month

As it crosses these places, gold gets released and starts flowing with the river, eventually settling along the riverbed.
