B not so much. Simple sweeps and a few throws mainly. Big takedowns and slams are illegal and aren’t the smartest move as you generally end up in a bad position
they do but they're often not applied in competition because the rules don't really incentivize massive takedowns, and a takedown will often lead to you falling into someone's guard. They much prefer getting a good judo trip, a sacrifice throw into side control, or pulling guard. In high level bjj without the gi (no cloth grabbing allowed), they are more open to doing stuff like double legs, kneepicks, ankle picks, and stuff like a deashi barai or a osotogari, particularly heavier weight classes because there is much more value in maintaining that top position and applying pressure. On lower weight classes they're much slippery on the bottom so a good wrestler that's not cautious will just get heelhooked, leglocked, or swept. As for the jiu jitsu academies, you're usually taught standard single and double legs. however, on white belt level, a lot of people are usually taught judo sacrifice throws, or at least my school does, because if you fail the throw it's basically a pseudo-guard pull. Stuff like Tomoe nage and sumi gaeshi are most beloved for whitebelts, especially in the gi.
@@aikighost sure in black belts the skill range is broad so therefore a smaller black belt can defeat bigger one with skill. But in most cases, a big guy will win a female or a smaller guy if their skill levels match.
Dern had a problem making weigh , but she was a strong competitor in the pro game . Dern should have been sponsored by a beach towel designer and just kept those towels ready at weigh in .
I enjoy most of the match. What really bothers me is the guard pulling. If Dern could improve her takedowns, she would do much better in MMA. I know she wins, but she gets beat up while fighting for takedowns, and not even against the top contenders. Easier said than done, and it’s just an opinion.
Was she Brazilian or American during this match?
guess it depends if she pushes her brazilian accent
Kind of what I think about cortez in polotics
i dont know but but she got that cake and a wicked omoplata
I remember when I first saw the match in 2016, I jumped up with joy when I saw the sub... Huge fan of Dern.
I wish I knew what they are scoring. Is there a rules instruction video out there?
2 points for a sweep.
3 points for passing guard.
4 points for getting mount.
4 points for taking the back.
Caraaaacaa, que finalização sinistra!!
Estava torcendo pra vc Michele 😔😔
Love you Michelle #checkmatnation
Lutaço, ambas fenomenais!
7:10 wow, triangle, Uma Plata, (rear choke/bow & arrow'ish?) ...
Increible, dos reinas del tatami
Monstra demais!!! Fantástico!!!
I don't have much experience of Jiu-Jitsu. Do practitioners learn takedowns to get the fight to the ground?

Epic match
I thought she was going to crank the arm to pop the shoulder, but she had to add a choke in there as well lmao

Is Dern pregnant?
Oss
Wow!
Yo no vi la omoplata, para mi fue por asfixia.
Match ends 6 to 6 with 3:06 left on the clock. 666 vertical coincidence? Ask edgy brah
If there were 6 seconds left but the 3 min throws it off. No cheating. But if glance at your clock at 7:06 you're really 6:66 fyi
The D in Dern stands for Dangerous.
I honestly thought her cup size
Of course Dern won. She knows how to use her weight to her advantage
Yeah because high level jiujitsu is all about weight and strength :P
aikighost no, but when two atheletes are the same belt level size and strength are determining factors.
@@Demosc0ut Sometimes yes, sometimes no. Tell it to Marcello Garcia :)

Coach White belt Yeah Mackenzie needs to work on wrestling and Judo to properly implement her BJJ into MMA.
Isn't Dern pregnant. Sure he media said she's not competing in the UFC for that reason....
That was awesome. So.e really good transitions.
Simplistic Irony this was in 2016
@@chadsiemens2429 Thanks for clearing that up, mate. Appreciated!
Que show de jiu jitsu
Easy when your not getting punched in the fucking face 😂😂😂😂
