Note to teachers; sometimes you’re not perfect and are the problem. Every school has stellar teachers, average ones, and some that shouldn’t be allowed near kids.

If 99% of the class has no complaints about the teacher and one kid does and complains about not learning
      The kid is the problem
Because if the others are clearly learning then it is the kid.

Professors are terrible lol. I mean zero respect and will talk random crap all class then give pop quizzes on the stuff we didn’t learn last class. Lots play favorites (the younger ones) I got the one fired for doing such a bang up job and legitimately giving me a bad grade on purpose because she didn’t like I didn’t have a far far far left opinion on topics (given my college is one of the most liberal on the east coast) most should be fired too old to teach effectively

I feel that "sex ed" should be relabeled to "body education". Especially for that first time class about body changes. Because they aren't actually talking about the act of sex.
And, even though im sure many of us can understand this, you still have just as many people who don't.

On my country it's taught as part of biology in high school and general science in primary. Both subjects are mandatory so... Also parents don't try to stop it; but they did fight something called Comprehensive Sex Education which was just much (i.e. part of it was watching porn or smut interaction and in a barely academic way.)

On the other hand, I had a teacher that was singling me out and bullying me, even being ableist (I have a neurological disorder that makes me have messy handwriting and she would constantly call me out and make fun of it even in front of the class), and I started taking note of everything she said to me. I took it to a meeting I called with an advisor or counselor and nothing came of it. Within the week, another one of my teachers gave a speech to the class about how sometimes it may seem like a teacher is being mean or bullying you, but they’re not. 🤨 I wish students were better protected from people like that so parents didn’t have to feel like they’re the only defense. That being said, there are definitely students who lie and parents who are crazy

  • @PokeBattlerJaze
    @PokeBattlerJaze 2 ปีที่แล้ว +11

Oh easy, I was only a teacher for two years but I got one.
Now I had a method of teaching where I would tell everyone at the start of the school year if they wanted to, they could go into the back of the room and as long as they weren’t a distraction, they can do as they please, phone, gaming, etc but realize that if you fail, it’s on you and you have to explain it to your parents what you were doing, not me.
The first test, half the class tends to fail because duh, and they wise up real quick but the policy stays. In turn, I was attentive as hell, I went above and beyond to answer questions, I was there even in the wee hours of the morning to answer things for them, there had been times class would start at 7:20 and I was answering things at like 5:00 and because of this, my overall success rate was 90%.
Now, there was one student, he didn’t do any work, back of the classroom everyday playing on something, not being a distraction, but just not paying attention and assignment after assignment, he fails. I’m sending emails, notes anything to get in contact with the parent about his behavior and hearing nothing back until about a month or so into the end of the year.
At this point, grades are all but finalized, and I have one final set of meetings to sure parents up and FINALLY this child’s parent comes in complaining about how their little angel is going to fail and how it is my fault.
I then show her a detailed record of every assignment he missed, the fact I give literally infinite time to redo it for partial credit to at least a D marking, the countless emails I sent her with no return, and explained exactly how I treated them like young adults instead of children and the freedoms I offered that was on them to take or not.
Her rebuttal? Well, clearly it isn’t working for my child so you need to change, what are you gonna do about it?
At that point I didn’t even know what to say. Like…clearly my method works, and he doesn’t want to put in the work, how is this on me anymore?

This happened in the second last year of HS, she had had enough of coming to the conference year after year being told he was difficult, rude, disrespectful, violent. So my mum walked in sit down and said “I know my son is a shit of a kid, tell me something I don’t know”
The teacher said “then we are done here”

When I was in 8th grade, my teacher told my dad in my flippin' presence that I wasn't doing as well as another specific classmate. (Classmate was a friend, we had just transferred to that school from another due to relocation reasons). Honestly shocked that any teacher would do something so rude as to compare me negatively to another student infront of my own father at a PC conference. Even if it was true at the time, why would you say it like that with the kid there?

I've taught in 3 different districts (urban, rural, and now suburban), and almost 99% of the issues in schools is either lack of parenting or student behavior. I actually had a parent a few years ago because I told kids (this is at the rural district) that Colin Kaepernick was legally allowed to kneel when he did. This was ASKED to me by a student because we were doing argumentative writing and looking at 1st amendment court cases. This is an English class. We didn't even read an article about the dude or watch a video. This kid raised his hand and asked a question. All I said was he was legally right, and then all of sudden the parents wanted me to fired. Their argument? That I as the ONLY BLACK TEACHER IN THE DISTRICT (and the first one) were indoctrinating their child and that I was clearly a liberal (I am not, I lean more conservative) and that I need to teach the truth, not opinions (which, truthfully, Colin Kaepernick was within his rights to do what he did. I never said he couldn't be fired for it). It didn't work, but they were emailing me almost every day asking what I taught that day and demanding to know if there was anything liberal I planned to teach in the future.

I was definitely the kid in this situation. Mum was an alcoholic longer than I've been alive. She's been in recovery for about 14 years now but she still has relapses. I was the smart, quiet withdraw kid. A pleasure to have in class, but shy and didn't have many friends and an only child. On a few occasions the teachers would notice mum would turn up drunk and hang out with the other drunk mums. It was an open secret and I was also the smelly kid at times but it was never openly discussed. I think the teachers just knew to treat me nicely and take my home environment into account. I had a social worker assigned once when I was about 14 but my case got closed not long afterwards because apparently I wasn't a high priority or something. Not long after this my mum got a new boyfriend she met on a drunken park bench bender, hooked up with him and got jaundice. He ended up beating her and got done for GBH. But my mother denies that anything was wrong, I'm the one who caused trouble and I'm still a waste of space with no career prospects even though I stayed on until I was 18. Sorry for the rant. Just makes me wonder what my teachers thought.

It sounds to me like she is the one patronizing the situation and not trying to understand this child’s perspective and actions based upon not just his religion but the culture that comes with the religion.
