Just received my first pair from Lee, Ichigo Iche. Snuff suede split toe. They are amazing. They were RTW. Once you add shipping ($95), toe plates, shoe trees and a transaction fee (not sure what this was for), the cost is closer to $900. Still worth every penny. The wooden box is more impressive in the video then in person. It isnt thick wood and the box was taped shut and when opening the box, the logo was damaged.
Yeah the shipping cost is unfortunately how much shipping cost now a days. Even $2,000 shoes are charging that much, but I did share the feedback with Lee that the wood box should be optional to lower the weight if the buyer wishes to reduce the shipping.
My favorite shoe from Lee are the 3 eyelet derby in blue and the Horween Chuka. I have the lazyman RTW but in a custom patina. THey look great on my feet.
In 1975, I saw a pair dress shoes in the Gentlemen Quarterly, premier menswear magazine.. I bought my menswear from the best in the world. And Detroit was a good place to build a foundation on my wardrobe. The pair in the picture in GQ was a lazy man style made with tan calfskin. Attempting the store in New York and no response, I cut the picture out and walked in downtown Detroit to find a custom shoemaker to make the pair in the magazine. Walked to a store front of the New York Custom Shoemaker, Antonio Bava. He made shoes for people who have specialized orthopedic needs. He questioned my age, where do you live at, where do you work at, and what kind of work. He sized me up anddecided I had the finances and the style I wanted to emulate. He made me the pair of the shoes from a picture from GQ. And he made another pair out of black kangaroo leather. And I still have the same drive. Both pairs were $165.00 each. 👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽
Beautiful shoe, thank you for the review! I'm looking at their website, couldn't find an option to add the Utah calf leather on their RTW lazyman oxfords.
How doe they do it? Simple. Low overhead costs. Including cheap factory space, no workers comp or employee health plan costs, no government regulation expenses like OSHA, no labor unions and cheap, cheap artisans willing to do quality handwork for minimal wages.
I think that’s true in some regard but that won’t apply to most small workshops where there are fewer than 5-10 craftsman. If it was a factory made shoe, I’d be more inclined to agree, but it’s not.
Wow ! They are gorgeous ! But I would lose the fake laces. (just my humble opinion) I would prefer the more minimalist look. and the shoes would be just as beautiful. Thanks for the video.
Tlb artista are nice but they’re not really comparable to a real handmade shoe. TLB is a machine made shoe with some hand finishing. It doesn’t mean they’re any lesser, rather just how much more value there is from this shoemaker.
@@Shellvedge Thats fair. Here's to hoping that they include some more minimalist models in their RTW line then. Good old regular rounded cap toe oxford(black/brown) would be nice. The models I see so far are a bit too much 'out there' for my tastes. Thanks for the video btw, another brand to keep in mind.
I own three pair of TLB Artista and 9 Pair (2 more on order ) of Ichigo Ichie. I love both brands. Dollar for dollar, the Artista line is the best value shoe made IMHO. The fit is as close to perfect and they are very comfortable. I'd own more Artista if they had some more leather options and patina available. I love all the different things that Lee is doing with his RTW shoes. And he is willing to do different colors/patina even on the RTW for a small upcharge. As Sheelvedge said, Artista is machine made and the Ichigo Ichie are fully handmade. And for a fully handmade shoe to start at approx $550 US, that is outstanding. The cost can go up fast if you add toe plates, half rubber soles and shoe trees ( I do all three on every pair) plus shipping is ~$90. But you doint pay sales tax so you trade one for the other. If you see a model you like for Ichigo but want a different color, send him an IM or an email, He is very quick to reply.
Beautiful shoes but im shure import on top of the shipping would be really feelable. It is impressive though. It is nice looking last. I see stunning belmoral boots on theyre page
@@brunonjezic6208 oh ok. Yeah but that’s not specific to this maker. There’s no way to account for taxes and import duties for every location so from my POV, it’s best to avoid getting into that nuance otherwise I’m always going to leave someone out.

Great video, bro! And an awesome pair of shoes, I love Utah grain although I don't have that color...yet.
Thanks Vlad! What did you get in burgundy Utah?
@@Shellvedge Nothing yet but will look into it for the next pair I get.
I like the spectators in his vintage oxford collection. I will order a pair
Fantastic! Lee has really elevated his patterns and finishing over the last few years. Best of luck and enjoy the shoes!

Great video and thanks for sharing this find. I now want to try them!
Excellent! Thank you for the kind words and highly recommended them!
I thought you didn’t like square toes!!
Came for the pronunciation, stayed for the review. I'd really like to try this one!
Classic Nkapped wit! Appreciate it and I think you’d like them a lot!

Wow! Absolutely amazing shoe. Great value for this package. Beautiful.

Appreciate it. Yeah they’re many lazyman styles. I like this classic style, reminiscent of the original Churchills
I prefer the fake laces.
How would you compare these to tlb's artista line?

Thank you! I’m not sure I understand what you’re talking about with import on top, but appreciate the supports!!
I assume he is talking about additional import duties.
@@PetervanderLugt maybe, but that’s usually on purchases more than $500-$600.
@@Shellvedge yep I meant on import duties. Sorry. On 560e boots i ordered there was 120e to import them from Indonesia to Germany for example
