    Great successful experiment !
    The outlet pipe size assisted with gravity created high vaccum which the intake pipe unable to compensate, the result is high sucking power.
    Since the outlet deliver full 60mm capacity the vacuum power deformed the metal drum. Maybe can control the volume of water going out by installing a ball-valve at the end of the delivery pipe, to balance the input and output so that the drum will not deform.

    • @jaymarbreguera591
      @jaymarbreguera591 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      @@kwaknitl-2guide318 i don't think so. if it's higher, it will not flow continuously and eventually stop when the strength required to suction the water from the river and the strength of the gravitational pull in the output pipe become balanced, as the volume of water in the drum decreases the water flow going out decreases also little by little until it will eventually stop.

    @Learn for Future Question, how long does it last? until the water is emptied from the barrel, or one hour, two hours?

    • @paulhap54
      @paulhap54 หลายเดือนก่อน

      If the flows are equal, it lasts indefinitely. This implies pipes with the same diameter at the inlet into the barrel and at the outlet. There is another issue related to suction depth. The weight of the suction water should be equal to that of the discharged (outflowing) water. If the flow rate of discharged (outflowing) water is higher over time, the barrel is emptied and siphoning no longer occurs. A non-return damper and a sorb are required on the suction (in water) The flow rates can also be adjusted from the tap on the outlet. A barrel water level indicator (made of a transparent tube (glass, polycarbonate, etc.) with bottom and top connections to the barrel would be ideal to precisely adjust the suction and discharge flows (outlet)

Suction is produced by the difference in height between the outlett and the top of the drum, not from the length or volume of the delivery pipe. This setup will never work if the out put water level is higher then the input.

  • @icicicles
    @icicicles 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

    If all you want to do is pull water over the hill/burm into the other water source then you don't need the tank.
    Just pick your size pipe and put a ball valve on the outlet side then submerge the pipe to fill it, close the ball vale and carry the outlet side over the hill/burm.
    Now all you have to do is open the ball vale and water will continue to flow.
    It's a siphon just like you had but without the barrow/stand.
    Water leaving the pipe creates a vacuum on the inlet side.
    It is simply volume displacement.
    Your barrow crushed because you were closing off the intake while the outlet was still displacing volume.

      1. Fill up as much water as possible, force the air out from the drum/barrel we are using. (both side inlet and outlet should be air sealed while u r doing this)
      2. When the water overflows from that two vertical pipe, air sealed it. (Tips: I would suggest using 4 valve for all the holes, easier to operate and make a bigger hole at the bottom of the drum with an extra valve to clean the wastage that sucked in from inlet pipe, make it big so ur hand had access into it for cleaning or dealing with cloaking problems in the future. Do not use netting at inlet hole as it will cloak it as soon as some leafs being pulled over)
      3. At the end of the outlet, open it up and let it run for couple second to create stronger vacuum in the drum. ( the drum deformed when he leaves the water running for too long time, but strong vacuum suction was created as well)
      4. Open up the inlet and ur water will be running smoothly as they are filled with water without air in the inlet pipe, it makes the suctions stronger.
      *Just remember one thing, short inlet and longer outlet, just make sure no air running in from the outlet, then this system will work just fine, so valve is super useful. If the pipes are filled with water in the outlet before opening up, it will be fine. But if u let some air into the outlet pipe, this system will fail.
      Try it couple times to get the right vacuum suction u need, as different length of inlet pipe and quantity of airs going back into the drum do affects the vacuum power needed to make this work.
      Good luck!

    so that sa drum will not deform. We will use water for dishwashing or taking a bath

    You must reduce the flow of water going out so that the container will not be damage or at the time you open the exhausting valve dont delay also to open the intake passages of water.

    • @Dingsrud

      For this SIPHON to work, the water level in the river must be higher than the exit to the field. Then you start with opening at the high end, in the river. You may take a rest, drink a cup of the and then open the output. As for collapse of the steel barrel, strange that the plastic bags at the filling studs are holding. Is he making a theatre?

    It deformed because you open the outlet valve while the inlet( the pipe in the lake) was still blocked, I do understand why you did that but check valve at the end would have prevented it.

    You need a pressure gauge to check sucking pressure and dual intake and you will pump harder the weight of the fall causes the sucking pressure. By increasing the diameter of your outflow pipe you cause more vac suction as you want more volume increase and it goes on and on if you keep raising your barell you can pump further and more volume

      The suction tube is same diameter as the output. No need to waste any money on dual intake. With the output at the center of the drum, half of the barrel volume are not active! With a priming drum there is no need to jump into the river, just theatre.
      There is no need for closing the inlet in the river. If you do, you should open in he river before opening the output to prevent air from sucking in from the output.

      Simply open in the river first. Then you can open the output some time later in the day.
