This video helped me alot! (no exaggeration). My Bontrager dropper was grinding on the way down; applying grease inside/below the dust collar solved the problem. As you said, there was very little grease inside when I opened the collar. The dropper is now buttery smooth. Thanks!!!
You said cube has the same structure ? Oh my God, I was struggling with the travel being just a 10mm more than I need, this literally means that all I need is a shim. Thank you so much.
I am getting bontrager line dropper post And control tech at my location which one will be a better option . Which will last longer and problem free bontrager is cheap here control tech is ona costlier side
I’m looking at a dropper for my bird zero am frame was looking at brand x that’s about 100 pound here in uk there’s also the one up dropper v2 that got my attention at 169 at a few uk sellers. replaceable cartridge on the one up
Had a Bontrager Line Droppost for 2,5 years. I had only once a problem. I disassembled the post and cleaned it. It was like new. There was a lot of dirt inside. The only thing i didnt like was that the saddle can rotate a little bit.
Yay for the Marlin having internal dropper routing. I put a KS dropper on my Giant Talon and had to run it external, still the single best upgrade I did to the bike. I will now get very familiar with this type of dropper as I am upgrading to a Giant Trance which has the Giant contact dropper, which as you mentioned is very similar to the Bontrager.
It's not that these are "cheap" droppers. They are the droppers that are priced right. The other droppers which cost more are overly and needlessly expensive, either from over engineered (complex) or selling their name (Suspension companies) These work as good as them and their maintenance is a lot cheaper and much easier.
I bought the Giant one a couple of years ago, was great at first but within a couple of months the paint was worn on the rear of the stanchion and even with constant cleaning/lubrication didn't perform as well as when new, I wouldn't in hindsight buy another, I have the ethirteen now and although better than the Giant still not what I would expect performance wise for the price.
How heavy is a kit? My bikes got a lot of carbon parts and its pretty light for a full suspension bike. It had some easton carbon post right now, you think I would feel the weighr or the benefit outweighs the cost??
@@LoveMTB i got the V1 on the oneup sale for £79 as it's been discontinued, i think the v2 has a better actuator and wider stanchion... no problems so far though!
Hey, I also have Contact Switch SL with this problem. It's minor con of these droppers I think, because top bushing is made of aluminium and it's slowly scratching stanchion wear off.
Great video. Im trying to do the same for my 2021 Marlin 6, but couldn't find any internal route to the post stem (unless I drill down the stem tube). Really appreciate it if you could let me know how did you route it! Cheers
@@LoveMTB Yeah looks like I'm gonna drill eventually, doesn't really care about the warranty, since I replaced almost all of the other parts on the bike, except for the frame. Thanks a lot for your help.
Another video to increase knowledge. Wanna see some tips & tricks. why don't you try to convert those wire bead bontrager tyres to tubeless? Every where what we see is going tubeless with tubeless staffs which isn't bad but boring. It would be a interesting project if you able to make it.
Ohh..I meant the stock bontrager tyres. It would be fun to watch making them tubeless. It's true stock tyres are pretty basic. On some tyres 60 tpi Carcass is so thin sealant would face tough time to seal every time. For example maxxis's stock ikon tyres.
I converted my Giant Talon to tubeless, I did have to replace the stock Ikons and went to MaxSpeed compound Ardent Races which are very well suited to a hardtail. The stock rims were not difficult to convert, the rim surface is well shaped for rim tape and it only took about a day for them to seal up good.

At 4:45 you name those "plastic keys" Do you know how to get some replacement keys? I couldnt find them when serching the web :(
Do you know how to add pressure?
That Trek Red just pops...very nice color.

Did you drill a hole on your seat tube frame? There's no hole to insert the cable on the seat tube for marlin 6.
Do you have links for any of these droppers?
The X-Fusion might be cheap, but it is smooth and very reliable. The Giant develops a lot of play as it has plastic guide bushes.
how u install it internally i thought dont have dropper hole
I have this video for that - th-cam.com/video/BGq09CWfJxA/w-d-xo.html

LoveMTB yes, its a 10 minute job
Why did you reduce the travel? You could have inserted the dropper that same amount, get the same final saddle height but more travel?
Too long for the frame. Can't push it into the fram enough for the desired height.
Giant droppers are great, easy to maintain, problem free, and cheap as chips!

How can a Marlin 6 have an internal dropper post? I thought the routing was only possible on a Marlin 7.
PNW droppers are well in this class, and in 27mm for Beargrease and more diameters than the style shown. Durable, simple, affordable, recommended.
Ranier is 27.2 mm model, and Cascade is 30.9 mm, well-used and working great.

Nice, now i have one available choice dropper, the only question is ,is it available in my country Philippines.
Thank you for the info
Did you have to drill a hole for the routing? I have the 2021 marlin 7 i cant figure it out how to route the cable. Tia
What about increase of the travel? Mine is 130mm, want 150mm. Should I remove or cut the white spacer? Cube dropper.

8:45 a dropper on an indoor trainer xD
Actually not the worst idea even if you wouldn't use the bike outside too.
@@LoveMTB that's exactly what I thought of too.
But at first glance it does look strange.
is the dropper you put on the marlin still running smooth and whithout wiggling?
Same cartridge design, Crankbrothers Highline 3 has the lowest stack though, so that's a plus
i found the "seal" on the giant dropper to be awful, I've had 2 contact droppers and both showed stanchion wear after 6 months use
probably true yes.. just ended up replacing it with a oneup post that actually has a decent seal on it
