Nice list, and great video, Matty. You do a really good job explaining what these titles mean to you and why you love to game in general. My list has a lot of the same titles.

Love the vid and have so many thoughts. Still have to play kotor games but I own them. I have tried fallout 3 multiple times and I just can’t. After playing new Vegas first I just can’t go back, I’d rather play fallout 4 than 3. Divinity 2 I actually like more than bg3. Bg3 is a 10/10 but I feel it’s SO big and full of so much, it gets overwhelming and exhausting. I also think that dnd as a system has fundamental flaws that intrinsically are frustrating and not as finely crafted and honed for video games like that of divinity 2. Divinity 2 is one of the only games I’ve replayed more than 2 times and I still feel I can go back and have it be fresh and fun right now.
Always a little strange seeing ME2 listed as it’s own game for me. I got into the series just last year with the Legendary Edition, and have always thought of them as one big game. Done 4 playthroughs now. And started at the beginning every time. It somehow adds weight to the experience. Wouldn’t occur to me, though, to single out one of the as “best.” Each entry had things about it that I loved. When I finished them the first time, I thought, “How could I have missed this?” And searched for other games like ME, but it turns out that it’s a trilogy that, for some reason, has never been equaled.
New vegas, Kingdom Come, KOTOR1, KOTOR2, Alpha Protocol, Fallout 3, Witcher 2, Witcher 3, Mass effect series, Cyberpunk and AC Oddessy are my personal favourites. Im sure Kingdom Come 2 will be added to that list.
Im a huge Fallout 3 fan and it took me a few years to actually appreciate New Vegas but its incredible. All of the DLC is better than the actual main game, its that good
I will admit i haven't played a lot of Western RPGs. I just recently bought Cyberpunk 2077 Ultimate Edition and Baldur's Gate 3. I also bought Witcher 3 Complete Edition years ago for $20 but I had a hard time getting into the game's combat.
Okay ME1 is personally my favorite by I can see why people would put 2 over it. But getting to the top 10 had me like Matty: puts witcher 3 at 10 Me: “Stop, you’re breaking my heart😢” #9 Matty: “and that is cyberpunk 2077” 💔 Solid picks overall but I’d have them in the top 5-7 at least. Bloodborne at 20 is mentally insane though. Specifically for an rpg. Nice hearing this list though. Unapologetically MrMattyplays, which you can’t get from anyone else.
Yes Morrowind, my beautiful boi. You made the list. This game is really easy to play and run with OpenMW. Is it easy to jump into due to mechanics, no. There are tons of resources on how to get into this phenomenal game paired with its amazing community and moddibility, its nigh perfect.
I certainly think this is a solid list. For me my 1 and 2 go back and forth between New Vegas and BG3. On one hand BG3 is more polished and the world more interconnected, but on the other I love the fallout world and setting and NV just kills it so much with a great story, side quests and characters. It'll always be hard to pick a favorite
The writing of the KOTOR games ruined me as a gamer for ever. Nothing compares to it, and now I end up mindlessly skipping through dialogue scenes, because the first RPGs I ever played spoiled me so hard. I've only played 3 games on this list (ME 1 and 2, Skyrim). I own Witcher 3, Kingdom Come, and Divinity Original Sin 2 as well as Elden Ring. Like half of this list I have plans to play at some point.
I actually agree with putting KotOR2 over 1. Both are amazing games, but Kreia alone adds such depth to the 2nd game. However, I feel that you _need_ the restored content mod for it to fully enjoy the game.
I kept thinking you had saved Fallout 4 for #1 or something because it just wasn't showing up. Then I saw Fallout 3, and I knew immediately you had left it off the list because I know how much you love Fallout 3

For me I’m not a huge rpg guy but kingdom hearts is some of my favorite games of all time especially 1 and 3
I'll limit my in the comments list to ten games in no particular order: TES 3 Morrowind, TES 4 Oblivion, Dragon Age Origins, the Mass Effect trilogy (that I am arbitrarily counting as one game), The Witcher III, Cyberpunk 2077, KOTOR 2, Fallout New Vegas, Disco Elysium, Vampire the Masqurade Bloodlines.
I love when people pour respect on Spiders. I've loved then since Orcs and Men and Bound by Flame.
A little cautious over greed fall 2 though...
