After owning both the Samsung q990 and the Sony hta7000 I've stuck with the Sony for the amazing sw5 optional sub and unmatched rear speaker quality of the SR5.
I play the demo for people when they come over and it never fails to put smiles on faces.

I feel the same, Sonys ceiling affects and the rear speaker are far superior
If I didn't have the Q990 I'd probably go with the Sony. The HTA 9 was my first consideration but it's a full $1000 more here in Canada. Any of these 3 are solid pics then the Sonos.
Samsung Q990C is the best yet!
i buy the SONOS arc with the gen 3 and 2 one sl ......with my nvidia shield and LG oled , sound with the arc is so good , my living room is now a cinema 😎
I have the Sonos arc with Subwoofer gen 3 and 2 one SL for surround. Agree it is great for movies to give a great immersive surround effect! In case of songs if I compare to movies, it is not great but not bad either.

I went with Sonos because you can change out the speakers over time. It gets expensive, but the sound has made it worth it so far.

I've had several soundbars and surround sound package but it was only when I purchased a budget AVR and a pair of budget speakers that I realised what I was missing, stereo imaging, thumping bass besides going down this route one can always add to it overtime... surround speakers, subwoofers one can even get height speakers and have the full non virtual Dolby Atmos experience.
Remember movies are made up of 50% visuals and 50% audio and there are occasions when the audio out does the visuals.
I agree I think a traditional 5.1.2 can out perform a high end sound bar at the same price point!
This guy has answered the question to sound bars. Even the top end ones they just are not go. If your happy with bad sound that’s fine. We are installers and alway cringe when we fit them. If you must go this route listen to what you are buying first. Do not go by reviews

Could you suggest a mid range price speaker? Mind you I live in Malaysia where some brands is off limits.
I hardly ever see the JBL mentioned but it is excellent, the only drawback is the sound from above could be better (but that’s true with all the bounce sound off the ceiling soundbars). I would definitely recommend the extended warranty though because I did have issues with mine and have read about others that also did. With that said, when it works, it sounds great.

Sonos all the way. I own the sonos arc with 2 sonos sl speakers as surround. I love dolby atmos for music and movies, it really does sound amazing. Im looking to get a subwoofer. Not sure if ill get the sonos mini subwoofer or the subwoofer gen 3

I don’t know if it’s just me but it seems a lot of movies and show nowadays have a lot of “whispering talk”. My wife always says turn it up I can’t hear what they’re saying. I do so and then something happens and blows us out of our seats. We have the Polk S2 and we keep it on the talk 3 setting but still it’s hard to hear them in certain parts. Any recommendations.
Bro after I just upgraded to Samsung Q990B I can hear voices way louder than before with my Sonos arc. I just turned on Active voice amplifier feature and its more than enough theres also another voice enhancement feature to turn on and that made the voice a bit too enhanced/loud for my liking so I left that one off. So far no dropouts on rear wireless speakers or sub and overall sound is just awesome.

@@beautyofflightsimulation2349 I bought it and had to return it, it has too many drop out issues with its subwoofer and left rear speaker. completely kills the cinematic experience. For the price for the HW-Q990B. For 1500 dollars, those issues should be non-existent, yet so many people experience those issues and its been 7 months since the product has been released yet Samsung refuses to fix the issue. Don't go with Samsung's flaky speakers. They use cheap and weak Bluetooth cards that constantly disconnect
