SA should definitely not be getting lectures on Xenophobia from a people who have been boko-haraming each other in the last decade. Let's all fix ourselves at home.

@@DeenChild I don't hope to do podcast abuti. It's just an online pseudonym. You need to learn that you are not right or perfect. Stop making all Nigerians look bad by always attacking people. We know you are not evil people, but accept the truth when we tell it to you so you can confront your issues as a nation and grow. SA is not perfect, but we've been "making it in life" because we look at our own issues. Don't be weak attacking people with sayings that aren't even relevant to them. I'm doing very well in life. You have valid points but you seem to not be addressing the elephant in the room. No one is disputing if she is legally South African or not. Concerns raised are as follows:
    1. Both her parents are not South Africans
    2. Not once before has she displayed pride in being a South African rather she waves a Nigerian and Mozambique flag in her socials
    3. She is black yet for over 2 decades, she cannot speak any black South African language out of 11 this simply means that she does not connect with those of the same skin colour as hers from a country she claims to be part of.
    4. South Africa is broken down and represented by the following identities (Basotho, Batswana, Mapedi, Maxhosa, Mazulu, VhaVenda, BaTsonga, BaSwati, MaNdebele, Coloureds, Indians and Whites) Out of that list which one does she embody since she wants to represent this country? You cannot tell me that you do not associate yourself with any of the above and yet want to individually represent the entire nation...... That is complete ignorance and no country would allow that, South Africa should stop being used as a testing field.
    5. When asked in the pergeant what does she identify as, what will she say? Saying South African is not enough.
    6. When asked about the traditions and South African customs, what will she say because not knowing a single South African indigenous language as a black person i a clear display that you dont associate with those people of that country.
This is not xenophobia, its just clear facts. Who in their right mind would want to represent an entire nation of which you do not identify with, dont speak their language or practice any of their traditions?
I guarantee you, she identifies as Igbo

    • @ay1ism
      @ay1ism 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

Identifies as Igbo makes me laugh. Although, Chidinma is an Igbo name so I, myself, got confused. Her surname is a Yoruba one, meaning her dad must be a Yoruba man. And it is said in this video that her mum is from Mozambique. Now to your points, I agree with you completely if she hasn't shown any sign of assimilation over these years then she's not representing. She might fit into the 'Coloured' Identity though. Her parents background shouldn't matter if she holds South african passport. She is an independent adult now.

To her South Africa is just a host country, she belongs to Mozambique and Nigeria. She had those flags on her bio...

South African citizenship is not automatically granted. While being born in South Africa and having at least one parent who is a South African citizen or a permanent residency permit holder qualifies you for citizenship, not all individuals born in South Africa automatically become citizens, in terms of section 4(3) of the south african citizenship act of 1992. it was automatic citizenship before but it was since amended.

South Africa chose specific cultures to make up their "rainbow" in 1994. Those are SePedi, Setswana, isiZulu, isiXhosa, isiNdebele, Xitsonga, TshiVenda and isiSwati and Sesotho. Some of these cultures are derived from other countries Lesotho, Botswana and Swaziland. They lawfully decided the culture that makes up black rainbow nation. We just want someone to represent who is consistent with the brand that was chosen. Otherwise it seems we don't value our own law. In time African Union needs to make more inclusive changes. But follow laws. Respect each other's laws. Also, remember, the pageant wanted people to vote, so people have power to decide who is eligible in their debate as the voting masses. No one disputes she's beautiful, that she's African and even South African. We're worried about practically applying this representation on global stages. We wouldn't want her to seem unembracing of her Nigerian or Mozambican roots. We are taking the organization to task for their decisions as voters. There's no Xenophobia in her case. No one wants her dead. This is a very political role and we want to be deliberate as South Africans regarding this. In future, let's engage one another. Ask South Africans and hear them out. Let's also learn to accept the culture shock that we don't react the same to different matters in our own homes, that's what makes our cultures different. I'm grateful though that we are bold enough to have these conversations.

I've been looking for this original clip.
Now the update is out and we are still waiting for the full investigation to conclude but so far, it is suspected that identity fraud may have taken place by Chichis mom.
And that on it's own has further implications, first being our incompetent and corrupt officials that have allowed this and many more others but most important of all, is her child not being able to get the ID number as a south African child.
Be it him or she has for the past 23 years of Chichi having that ID or 14 years if counting since 2010 meant that the child was a ghost in their own country because a identity no. meant to be their lifeline was given to someone else depriving them of their God given rights in this land to education, health and social services that they were not able to get because technically they are illegal in their own country.
Another thing is in our schools need you to have a birth certificate to register and to matriculate you register for your national ID so that government is able to attach your academic record to your ID and be able to trace your school history should such cases happen.
Now could yall please just think of that mother and child who were not able to be "South African" as others are. I'm not using any xeno rhetoric to make my point but if you just as patriotic about Nigeria than you can understand.

I believe the South African government needs to address these issues. Some foreign nationals come to South Africa to obtain papers and ultimately benefit from the country. We should hold our government accountable for this problem, rather than blaming innocent individuals like Chidima. Corruption within the government is the root cause of the issue. South Africa has become a playground for corruption, which affects its integrity. It's possible that even her parents obtained their papers illegally. Many black foreign nationals seek to identify as South African to gain papers and succeed elsewhere, which might lead to the exploitation of the country for their benefit. Indigenous South Africans would likely find this unacceptable and would certainly resist. However, the primary issue remains with the South African government. They need to reform their policies and strengthen enforcement, as the current situation makes South Africa a vulnerable target, and many foreign nationals are quite comfortable here.

    I loved the conversation,
south africa is not xenophobic from the best of my knowledge as a south african. we are only named xenophobic when we apply the law, for example: let's say an illegal foreigner commit a crime in SA which affect south africans, obviously south africans will demand for such person to be deported but the opposition will claim that south africans are zenophobic forgeting that "firstly" the person came illegal to the country "secondly" the person is contributing to crime which on later stage disadvantage south africans.....
i think the best way to handle the situation is to pay attention to the law and the circumstances. most illegal foreigners are enjoying south africa because they are not causing attention to themselves however there are some who are causing attention by committing crime that cannot be tolarated by the community therefore, we have to act from there.
secondly i would advice that don't compare similar crimes and the consequences, for example: if your child steal your money you will either talk to the child or punish the child in a good manner but if someone who you don't even know commit the same crime you might even call the community to deal with that particular person. so the punishment won't always be the same.
in my community there are lot of "illegal foreigners" but we don't bother them because they are not committing crime but there is also small group which does other things which is not accepted such as fighting each other over fishes to such an extent where they burn in other alive in a house... but it only happened twice around 2017 so if such behavior continues we will have to act as a community because it causes bad image and it also scares us. sometimes we also have to arrange a proper burial of someone we don't even know his relatives.
other than that we are brother and sisters as Africans, help us to stop crime . the issue of illegal foreigners is very troubling because we don't even know if those people left their countries after committing crime or they came here to better their lives.
As for legal foreigners i see no problem will them cause their identity can be verified and they can be traced if needed.

Came back to this channel to give you feedback as you called South African’s xenophobic for standing up for their rights and country. The department of Home Affairs has found that her mother committed fraud obtaining South African documentation, therefore Chidimma Adetshina is not South African. You are very quick to call patriotic citizens xenophobic and spread misinformation and damage for views and clicks. Pathetic.

Nigerians excel in everything accept staying home and fixing their own country and excelling there. The arrogance and entitlement is on another level. I love Nigerians...most of the christian content I listen to is from Nigerian, wrong is wrong shem... Let each country fight for it's own people, just like Botswana and Namibia...they do it 🙅🏾‍♀️✌🏾

I have no issues with legal citizenship. And if that's the case, No Debate, she qualifies for Miss SA pegeant.
But What about the SA Home Affairs findings that the mother committed fraud and stolen identity to acquire citizenship?

Ladies please do your research before calling names. This has nothing to do with beauty, it is an issue of stolen identity.
Can you stop and think what happens to the poor South African child who had her identity stolen by this Chidima. Do you know there’s more adults now who had their ID stolen in the same manner and now they cannot wotk, they cannot get their ID books because the likes of Chidima already owns that ID. I am glad this has come up so that it can be addressed properly by our govt. I also blame South African home affairs because people have been buying ID’s like you buy food at the supermarket. This kind of fraud is the reason why we are here today. Nobody ever cared about what happens to the child who’s identity they have used for a person who does not qualify to be South African. There are people who get their citizenship in a legal way whereas on the other side there are people who take short cuts and our own govt workers within home affairs enable that. They all deserve to be arrested for fraud.
I am waiting to hear another meeting where you ladies will talk to your own people to stop going out and conduct fraud in other countries and then turn around and claim to be victims. The real victims are the kids they have befrauded and stole their ID, these kids can’ get work in their own country, they can’t get their high school results and can’t go to university because everything is linked to this ID that has been stolen. Let us fight for justice for all, not one sided justice please.

You automatically qualify for South African citizenship if:
you are born in South Africa and at least one of your parents is a South African citizen or a SA permanent residency permit holder
if you are adopted by a South African citizen.
You can apply for South African citizenship by descent or naturalisation.
You can also apply to retain your citizenship before you obtain citizenship of another country. Unless you have been granted retention of citizenship before acquiring citizenship of another country, you will lose your SA citizenship automatically.
You may apply to have your South African citizenship reinstated if you are a former citizen by birth or descent and you have returned to South Africa permanently.
You may renounce your South African citizenship if you intend getting citizenship of another country.
