South Africa is not a country for a specific people. South Africa is not a tribal country. In fact South Africa is a region, that is, South of Africa, named by white people. If you are a Zulu then you are from Kzn, you are not from Limpopo or North West and you are not the same people as the people of these provinces. What would make you as a Zulu or as a Sutho be the same people as Pedi or Tswana people and be diferent to Shona, Ndebele, Shangaan or Kalanga?? All these people are different to one another. Each one of them is a specific tribe, it is a unique, none is the same as the other. These borders where put by the colonialists to conquer you , devide to better and easily conquer and then rule. None of the tribes created these borders. And why are you so obssessed with the colonial past to the point of discriminating and humiliating other blacks????????? If this is the logic then bring back the apartheid system. Your issue is that SA is more developed than other African countries and this being the reason why people come here, so what? Did you develop SA??? It was developed by white people, and white people are not xenophobic toward others. They may be racists but not xenophobic. Some say that SA can not carry the whole Africa. That is nonsense. The African continent has 1.2 billion people. The population of SA is 65 million including foreigners. Are the remaining 1.13 billion African people living in SA? They are in their own countries. They could come to SA if their wanted to. All they need is a passport. Some African countries need visa but many do not need visa to come to SA. And why is all Africa not in SA?. This is a monsense hatred, self-hate because you are lazy and incompetent and then you get jealous. The bottom line is every country in the world has a foreign population. You go to Mozambique, Angola, Congo, Malawi, Nigeria, Namibia, Ghana, Ivory coast, Kenya, etc you will see plenty foreigners there and there is no issues. Why should it be a problem in SA??? Why??? Now, people who are offsprings of illegal immigrants and have no clue about our history and our struggles just feel they have to benefit. First of all this girl has a child, is a divorcee, her mother's citizenship is questionable, they say she is SAn with Mozambican relations, what is that??????
Many children who are born in SA, with SAn fathers but BaSotho mothers, they dont have automic citizenship by merely being born here. Those who pursue to get citizenship they are required to do a DNA. This one her dad is not even SAn, we not sure about her mum, who now we should call for her to do a DNA to confirm if she is SAn or Mozambican.

Miss South Africa is an arts and culture institution, not a court or Home Affairs or a beaurocratic institution. Thus, Miss South Africa must resonate with South Africans not as merely an ID carrying citizen but as a South African which extends beyond the beaurocracy and goes into the cultural fabric of the society. She should be relatable to South Africans, be able to speak South African languages, have South African roots, and so on. We as Africans know that you are what your father's ethnicity is. So, since this is a cultural competition, from that stand point she is NOT South African regardless of what papers say. She is Igbo which is not a South African naturalised ethnic group. White Afrikaaners have naturalised in South Africa over hundreds of years. They are woven into the South African cultural fabric even though their ancestors from 600 years ago are not from here so the argument that we accept white people but not other Africans is not valid. This is more about South African ethnic groups, which includes white Afrikaaners, than about hating Africans.

      >> So were they initial Afrikaaners South African? If not, which generation became South African by your analysis? The 2nd? 5th? What exact number of years does a lineage need to be considered South African?

@darelet I'll be brief. Miss South Africa is a competition for THE people, not themselves. So clearly if what resonates with the people is ignored by them, then they are no longer in existence for representing the society but themselves... which will render them irrelevant to those who they seek to present "Miss South Africa" to. Which then is pointless.
Yes, you are your father's ethnicity. Basotho and so on. Nothing changes.
White Afrikaaners have naturalised here and are part of South African culture, an Igbo person is not. If you can't comprehend that, then I can't help you.

@@moetikitso72 "Miss South Africa is a competition for THE people ..."
      >> I say, Miss South Africa is a competition for pregnant Malawians. By this claim and yours, of course both of us are just yapping nonsense, the only difference is I am self-aware and honest to know I am. You seem deluded in your own make-believe world to tell your nose apart from your ears. Like I said, Miss SA's organisers understand the objectives, mission and vision of the institution much better, or at least have more authority to interpret it than you do. Your opinion of what the body represents is as good as any dude on the street, including myself. I also doubt they are eager to represent Xenophobes, if I assume correctly what you imply by "the people".
"Yes, you are your father's ethnicity"
      >> Ethnicity has no relevance to citizenship. As for citizenship, South Africa's constitution says provided one parent is South African at the point of birth, so you are wrong again.

@darelet Your whole comment shows you lack comprehension. I mentioned that this is not a question of citizenship. You missed the point. No one is trying to interpret the Miss SA rules. They are disconnected to the society they are trying to represent, which is South Africa, which I am a part of. If you feel you can't make observations because you are a man on the street, that's on you. You are the kind of people with whom comes no change reflective of the people institutions claim to represent. Let's leave it at that. Our biggest problem is not only unemployment or poverty, it is it the continuation of indignities that is faced by Black South Africa and that indignity is that we are being told we are not indigenous by racist Whites and Coloureds. Well are indigenous since we have Khoi and San DNA in us (Black South Africans) and Gayton is supporting that racist narrative that we don't have Khoi and San DNA.
Black South Africans let's stop acting like our perpetrators by bulling this African sister and focus these type of issues that are trying to pull us away from our indigenous land and Gayton is part of it. Wake up and watch out!
