I simply LOVE the poet's reactions, whenever eric says something naughty or touches him. After all, Julian and Sandy defined the concept of camp. wonderful! I wish they'd invited Kenneth as well.

Hugh Paddick would have been a great Doctor Who. And could have used this costume.

This routine was a rehash of their 1971 routine, which you can see here. th-cam.com/video/8W_UYGuHK5U/w-d-xo.html

I thought that their camp neighbour Adrian was played by Micheal Ward

Seemingly Morecambe and Wise did this sketch twice: first on the BBC in 1971 with Michael Ward, and then on ITV in 1980 with Hugh Paddick. It would be interesting to see the Michael Ward version alongside this one. Judging by the only two photos I can find online, Ward's version of Fondle was less extravagantly dressed than Paddick's.

He's from Julian and Sandy, right? I wish Ken Williams had been invited to their show as well.

KW wouldn't have fitted easily into sketches like this.

This was broadcast in 1980 on their ITV Thames Television series. It is such a shame, as this was the time the duo would start to re-hash sketches from their BBC days. It is a nice sketch, but only the humour from Eric Morecambe with regards to Hugh Paddick's sexuality is outdated.

It would be dated if he were making jokes at gays expense but Eric isn't making slights about his sexuality out of homophobia here, he is purposely acting anti-progressive to set up the classist argument the sketch revolves around, having an extensive carrer in theatre I doubt either of them were unfamiliar with our more fruity friends lol
