I just watched this video after seeing the video of you losing your beloved Lancelot 🥲Watching him yawn and rest comfortably over your arm, was so touching knowing that his little tender soul had departed the earth. Bless that little angel. 💙
No one wishes you ill, but what a wonderful “intermission” from daily life. Your tour narratives are always out of this world! History, photos, names, dates, food, old things, then new. What’s not to love? Thank you for using this to fill in a day we all love to share with you.
Hi Stephanie, I intuitively knew that when you got a dog that you would fall in love with him or her! Until Lancelot, I was not a fan of small(ish) dogs but he has totally changed my opinion about that! In my experience, there is no comparison of the unconditional love a person gets from a dog! Elizabeth in Texas
@@elizabethclark8374 My daughter also disliked the little dogs & she called them "kick me" dogs... Until she had one! Her MIL died & my daughter inherited Jake & love happened. She did loose him but since then she got another small dog 😂 both of different breeds but both showed her that you don't have to be big in order to steal a heart ♥!!!
Hope you're feeling better very soon Stephanie. Love the areas around your Chateau, thank you for sharing them with everyone on here. Buy the way, you have me hook on the June's Journey game you are playing. Thank you for the mention a few videos back, I really enjoy the game.
Yes, please!! More videos from the area! My hubs has asked me many times, “where would we stay, what villages are around there, what would we do?” He knows I want to visit the area. You are a master tour guide! ❤❤
I love your idea to make some ‘mini-docuseries’ vlogs showing some of the different areas around middle France with all it has to offer. You are very knowledgable and eloquent so it is very interesting. I am unable to travel any more due to ill health so I love to travel vicariously through your channel. Your ‘Travels with my Friend’ are a wonderful example of exploration and explaining about its past and I’d love to see different places with their histories. Have plenty of rest!! We will still all be here waiting for you. Feel better soon! Thank you Stephanie 💐🥰🙅♀️🙅♀️
Stephanie, this was a wonderful presentation! I have trained many docents for the monuments/museums where I was curator of collections. You gave incredible narration: facts, history, culture, architecture and humor! The tour was so enjoyable! Love the dress! You take care of yourself! Have Marie make you some chicken noodle soup! Thank you!
This was absolutely brilliant! Love the XII century architecture! And the fact that there are still some frescoes remaining is stunning to me! Great job from the restorers!
Thank you for sharing these gems in France. I will probably not return there in this life. I was in France when I was very young, 4 and 10yo. I was telling my Mum earlier today that this is my new mode of travel, great YT videos like this. I am mobily challenged, needing two canes to walk. I have seen much and happy to see what I missed sitting in the comfort for my home. Blessings for feeling more like yourself Stephanie
The crypt was fascinating as well as beautiful, but the music! The music was quite stirring. I love your videos and am enthralled by the Lalanders. What lives you lead. What beauty you are all surrounded by.
If you live the music, it's from a 1972 Italian movie, soundtrack composed and orchestrated by Riz Ortolani for the movie "Fratello Sole Sorella Luna", directed by Franco Zeffirelli ... Donavon did an English version, but the Italian is more stirring. I had it playing for the birth of my daughter, so it has become part of me, it transports me Translated the movie is 'Brother Son Sister Moon', it's about the life of Saint Francis of Assisi. The Italian movie is very beautiful.
Sorry you are not feeling well Stephanie. Hope you recover soon. I do love the idea of showing us places near the chateau that can be visiting while in the area. Gargilesse looks beautiful. Thanks for the history lesson.
Seeing that old image of your church... crikey, what a difference. That's a fantastic church. Your knowledge and presentation is brilliant. Thanks Steph, hope you're better soon.😊
You are always so Consciences of providing content. I absolutely LOVED experiencing that church and village with you! Thank you so much! Great idea about doing vids on the local area. How close are you to the old villages of Occitania, the Cathars’ medieval troubadour area? I’d love to see that…
What beauty… thank you so much for sharing this with us, it was enchanting. I’m absolutely not religious, but I loved the devoted music… ❤ Also, thank you for teaching me how to wear a headband and glasses at the same time! 😂 Get well soon! 🫶💞🫶
I think that is a splendid idea, and, if this first film is anything to go by, they will be most inspiring for your guests, and those of us who don't travel so much anymore. Get very well soon. Ask Marie for a mug of chick stock - very healing!
So sorry you're under the weather! Get well soon! And yes, I'd love to see more videos like this, what a wonderful village and church, love those frescoes!
i look forward to see more explorations of a rather unknown corner of France; the history and natural beauty of the area contributes to the value of Chateau de Lalande and The Chateau Diaries. So, yes i think it is a wonderful idea!

Yes, please, so glad you are doing this. We are coming to France end of Aug to mid Sept. We tried to get into your B&B but it was full. We thought it would be a treat for us as we are celebrating our 55th wedding anniversary at the end of Sept. We watch all your videos and because of that we have picked up on some of the trips that you and Philip have done around the area so we have marked them out to visit while we are in France. Thanks for all you and the LaLanders' do, you all are a very interesting group of people.
Merci, Stephanie and Philip, for this beautiful video ❤ I am unable to travel now, and these adventures mean so much to me who sees the sights virtually! It's incredible..I truly appreciate what it takes to put this series together! Hope you're feeling better soon❤ xx
Stephanie I loved this video and I’m one of the people who will probably only get a visit via your wonderful vlogs. That being said, I worry so much that you never rest and could head to a burn out!! You must be the most conscientious vlogger there is and I realise there is perhaps a great responsibility to the people you employ. Please rest in bed and get the other lovely Lalanders to film what they get up to when the cat’s (or I mean Stephanie) is away.😅 I’m sure fellow viewers would rather you take some time out to rest and recharge rather than keep going and get further run down, making you susceptible to illness. Anyone who doesn’t, is being selfish and has so many hundreds of previous vlogs to rewatch containing as much joy as the present ones give. I’m rewatching a lot for about the third time!❤️🙏🏻
Wonderful idea to show local areas, not only for your guests but also the armchair travelers as myself. I do hope you are feeling better real soon and can enjoy more lovely summer time with Philip. Cheers from Kansas USA, zura
Thank you for the tour and the "lecture" -- so very much appreciated! Learning a bit about the background of a village makes it more interesting and accessible.
Love this tour, thank you again, Stephanie. I feel grateful to have been raised Catholic and taken to our cathedral every week, and to the monastery where my auntie the nun lived. I am so grateful for your interest in and excellent production and narration of European architecture! Well done, Stephanie and Philip!

So glad to see you healthy again..wish you a good health for another exploration and more..thank you for showing the hidden gems in Gargilesse and the stories back in medieval times and the beautiful creation from the architecs and the workshop and the cuisine..
The countryside is so beautiful. I loved this video and Gargilesse is a very beautiful village and as you say many places in France are underrated. I would appreciate it if you did make the videos of places near La Lande. Your narrative is lovely the history, the photos the walk through of the visited place you are visiting, not to mention that you have a lovely voice and tell the stories so well. I thank you for taking us on this outing and sharing this with us. I got goose bumps while you were telling the story of the Monk giving the wooden statue of the Virgin Mary to the person who brought the statue to the church. Seeing that old image of your church shows just how far you have come with the restoration, what a difference. Hope you get better soon Stephanie and I could sit here and listen to you speak French all day. Have a lovely day.
Stephanie, I’m seriously waiting for Netflix to give you a series on French history! Your presenting skills are outstanding - do you have a background in hosting? You make everything seem so interesting!
Loved this vlog! So glad you are feeling better. ♥️ I do love the idea of videos of the local area, sounds wonderful. The other video I hope you produce is the video of La Lande' s nature sounds! I think it's a great fundraiser idea as well, I would gladly pay.
It was so interesting to see that church and village. When you mentioned the wooden statue it reminded me of a story I read about “Monuments Men”. Non fiction about men and women during the second war locating the art either stolen for Hitler or in danger of damage. That statue was in the book I read and pictures of it being carried away from the severely damaged church for safe keeping. Amazing to see it in your video. Monuments Men is a movie as well but the book is interesting to learn who these people were and how they performed their task in locating and logging all the artifacts and historical buildings that were in danger. As they were themselves in many cases. Thank you Stephanie and feel better soon.
I met an interior decorator who was in the army for 30 years. He created small museums with returned items from WWII all over Europe. It was the follow-up to the monuments project. As the families were gone, getting jewelry, paintings, objects of art categorized and etc, back in the country of origin had to happen quickly and in public to stop looting. ❤
This was quite lovely, Stephanie. I am the least religious person you are likely to find, but I truly appreciate the artistry and the history of the churches and chapels in France. Thank you for the tour. The pottery was equally lovely and I do enjoy seeing you interact with locals and enjoying the life you lead, whether at the Chateau or out and about. In other words, if it is something you find interesting and that you enjoy recording on video then there is a very, very good chance I will also find it interesting and worthwhile watching. I hope you are feeling better today.
Stephanie. Thank u for sharing this video. What a wonderful visit it must have been to see everything this church had to offer to its visitors. Thank you again ❤
Yes, please, Stephanie, I would enjoy thoroughly seeing more videos of your local points of interest. This may be my only option to see more of France. 😊 Bon rétablissement ma chère amie Stéphanie.
Superb camera work and sublime musical score,, and your hushed, respectful tone kept me captivated only to enhance more so the informative richness of your script. May I ask if you had technical aide in your shoot. I've heard about wearing many hats but this is one Tour de Force. Bravo!🥰P.S. A "making of" 'doc. would be interesting, non?
Love this so much. Your area of France has been calling to me since you began the Chateau Diaries. Your trips and tours of central France only increase my love for it. Obviously, I would love more tours like this one. Huge thanks to you and Phillip, and hope you feel better soon.

BEAUTIFUL, that is the first crypt I have seen that is above ground aside from Queen Elizabeths crypt.
