  • For five months alone in a remote mountain village, I am renovating an old cottage. I bought an old, abandoned house and decided that it would be my new home.

the carbon monoxide sensor must be set low because it is heavier than ordinary air, carbon monoxide spreads downwards therefore when you sleep at night, you can easily suffocate when the sensor indicates... at the height where you placed it. That's not good there... put it at the height where your head is when you sleep. Of course, this is your life, your business...

Be careful my friend. You do lovely work. I suggest you make a simple scrap square frame that you can put under each of the solar panels near the poles to help lift them up. This will hopefully keep them clean until you have time to make something better.

Im not so interested in technical things like power and solar but I love wood work.
I hope you keep that beautiful little kitchen furniture after you renovated the second half.
The combining of old and new is so unique and stunning.
Great craftsmanship! A joy to watch. Thank you.

I like everything about remote living in small houses.
I have no water at my cabin but I like your solutions a lot about rain water collection. I do to but only for my garden. The water I need I get in town.
I love wood, I heat with it and during winter I create unique shelves and smaller stuff. It’s comforting.
I have a question. You framed your window frame with mud. After it dried it looked all cracked and I was wondering if it still has the stability to secure that heavy wood frame.

When I first saw the cabinet I thought, it’s a little big for the space but it will be nice once it’s repaired. I was a little horrified when you starting cutting it with the chainsaw! 😮 😂 But I like watching you creating a new cabinet that fits your space. Can’t wait to see it once finished.

In the winter is best to raise the solar pannel to at lease 65°, you have more perpendicular sun and the snow came off alone.

I feel the pain with that hybrid inverter, I returned my unit and got the components sepeate now. This way im able to change out individual components instead of having to buy the whole thing again while also not being out of power. If my MPPT fails, i can still charge using the ac to dc charger.
    1 - Inverter
    2 - MPPT
3 - 1000w power supply(use with small generator for fuel efficiency)
(optional) victron/fusion energy smart battery shunt

The collars on your cats must be self-opening since they roam outdoors. If not they may hang themselves by accident. But you probably know this already. BTW, great vid as per usual.

The true sense of repurposing an item. The new piece of furniture is practical and sized to your tiny house, great build! Must feel so satisfying to be able to redesign a piece of furniture. Take care clearing your solar panels, would hate to see you break an ankle or leg up there in the mountains. Love the way your cat accompanies you when you go outside. Hopefully you won’t get too much more snow! ❤

Why don't you build a support with adjustable inclination adjustment for the solar panels? You can do it with the pallets. This can facilitate cleaning and make snow accumulation difficult.

I will start when the weather is a little better. Those four pillars standing behind the solar panels are intended for a stand. But I made the mistake of placing them in the summer. When it was 12 o'clock I guessed that they were facing exactly south. Not really, because summertime is an hour ahead, now I have to change everything. 😂
