  • On our recent Norwegian Encore cruise (January 2023), we visited Tortola, British Virgin Islands. We took an excursion to the baths on Virgin Gorda. It was definitely my favorite excursion. Thanks for watching! If you have any questions leave them in the comments below. Oh and I highly recommend bringing a waterproof satchel on this excursion.

That’s a bucket list excursion for me. Looks like your tour was a lot less crowded than others I’ve seen (Disney). Cheers !

My cruise in August will have the same stop, I’ve been debating whether or not to book through my cruise line because it is more expensive than the local places but the long drive does sound like it would be a risk for missing the ship! Thanks for the helpful info! 😊

We have done 10+ cruises and never do excursions due to the cost but when I saw videos of “the baths” I knew I wanted to do it. I’m a worrier so I was totally afraid of missing the ship so only ship excursions for me. The boat ride was a bit long , 45 minutes and the bus ride to a remote area. I don’t think 8 would eve4 do it on my own. It was the most beautiful place.

@@Thetaylorsonthego I’m a worrier too!! Your video definitely convinced me, it looks worth it but hopefully I can catch a little sale on it sometime before!

Going to Tortola the first week of April on the NCL Escape. Do not see the Baths on an excursion , what was it called?

I believe it was called “Virgin Gorda and the baths” There is also one listed as “Virgin Gorda baths and snorkeling” the difference is we did the first one - boat to island then bus ride to baths. The other you take a boat to snorkel then swim to shore(baths). We did the first one- not the snorkeling one. The snorkeling one is more $ and less time

Water Temp: We are going on the cruise in January 2024 and will have a 2 year old as well as 2 16 year olds......just how cold was the water temp? I see you made it into the water but you didn't elaborate too much after that. The excursions are really not our forte but want to spend time on the beaches and in the ocean. Recommendations? Is there an all inclusive (food, drink, tables chairs) that we could partake in?

Water temp was cold at first but once you got used to it, it was ok. Lots of people in the water. I think the outside temp was about 82.
I think the closest beach is about 5 miles away. So you need to take a taxi. I don’t know if there are any excursions that offer transportation and food included- sorry
      Have fun

Thanks for posting! We're heading there for spring break. Is it safe to bring your cellphone for pictures, or do you recommend a waterproof camera instead? And how difficult would you say it is getting through the baths tour? Thank you!!!

If you don’t plan on getting into the water to swim or anything and just do the tour and hang out on beach then your phone is safe. If you plan on swimming definitely use a waterproof case. I had my GoPro and I have a “booe bag” I bought. They are pricey but I love it because I can fit my passports and phone in them when going out on excursions. I used to just use one of the cell phone bags off Amazon until my phone got too big for them. As for the difficulty, it depends on your size and mobility. My hubby is 6ft and about 195 and just had to duck through some spaces. If you are a bit bigger it could be tough. As for mobility, I thought it wasn’t strenuous at all. You so have to be careful not to trip on rocks and such but I trip over my own 2 feet so 🤷‍♀️

we visit BVI in about 10 days. The baths would not interest me, but exploring the place would.

What would you suggest to wear passing thru the baths and caves?

We wore bathing suits. I wore shorts over mine ( just self conscious) and I definitely recommend either water shoes or sandals with straps. We wore our Chaco /Teva brand sandals. There were quite a few people barefoot but I don’t recommend
