Don't know if you guys read comments or not...... But if you would've watched My Hero Academia in Subs...... You'd know that Genya's Voice Actor is The Same As Bakugo's Voice Actor
If you saw the scene where Rengoku died and the crow was telling the Hashira, Genya was with the Stone hashira. and gyomei also said something tht sounded like he was chanting too. Im an anime only watcher but I think genya got that chant from gyomei
In the most respectful way possible. Micky and Suraj are *idiots.* Rana isnt far behind them bc only simps for hot boy characters, and Chris, Navi, Pat(most of the time) and Marketa are the only ones who pay attention
i wouldn’t call em idiots even tho they do be sayin some wild shit sometimes . but i do agree w you about rana simpin cuz it is hella annoying , especially when most of em are underage lmao
喜, which was translated as joy, means active emotion induced by self-action, on the other hand, 楽, which was translated as pleasure, means passive emotion induced by external events or stimuli, to be exact. The difference is hard to understand even for Japanese speakers and we don't usually pay much attention to it, though. 喜怒哀楽 (joy, anger, sorrow and pleasure) is an idiom from Chinese classics.
In Indian classics too, त्रिविधं नरकस्येदं द्वारं नाशनमात्मनः । कामः क्रोधस्तथा लोभस्तस्मादेतत्त्रयं त्यजेत् ॥ Transl: Threefold are the doors of Hell, destructive of the soul - desire, wrath and greed: therefore let man renounce these three.
Found it, want to type it below here but lost it, so I just start a new comment. As for Chinese speaker, 喜怒哀樂, the first and last are basically similar for us as well(swappable), more like synonyms. In emojis are something like 🙂😡😞😁, which is similar as well.
27:09 I’m no expert but I think the easiest way to explain it is. Joy is an emotion that comes from within while Pleasure is something we get externally. Like for example I can be happy it’s a sunny day because sunny days make me happy while I can get pleasure from the ice cream I’m able to eat on those sunny days. Make sense? Idk just wanted to throw my perspective out there 😅
If you wanna dive into the philosophy of emotions, let me put a light on this riddle. The old man (demon hantengu) who represents scared nature, got divided into Anger Demon and Pleasure demon. And when Anger Demon got divided, one was anger itself (it regenerated), other one was Sorrow Demon. The pleasure demon got divided, at one he regenerates, and the other part of him became Joy Demon. Contemplate on these emotions and how they are derived.
Joy and pleasure can be interchanged as they are similar. But unlike the immense happiness that is joy, pleasure can refer to and is often used when talking about the physical body. Whether that is pleasure through eating, massages, sauna, sex (we all know how lustful pleasure can be) and so forth. In this case, pleasure is finding excitement through physical violence.
I'm so glad they got Nobuhiko Okamoto to voice Genya. He does a very particular type of character very well, that being the overly angry hothead who seems like he has a lot to prove. Others he has voiced include Bakugo from MHA, Garfiel from Re:Zero, and Nishinoya from Haikyu. That last example doesn't really fit the other's personalities exactly but I do think he is interestingly similar in design to the other characters though.
I saw someone explained the emotions(喜怒哀樂) as a Japanese speaker, its basically like that, not much difference. Since its in Chinese characters, I am more exposed to those words, and can give my perspective as well. For Chinese Speakers, there is not mush difference too, they translate 喜怒哀樂as Joy, Anger, Sorrow, Pleasure, but there are many other translation as well (pleasure, anger, sorrow, joy)(delight, anger, sorrow, happiness)(happiness, anger, grief, joy)...and so on, as you can see the first 2 are mostly swappable(more like synonyms). In emojis is something like 🙂😡😞😁 , which is similar as well😂 喜怒哀樂 when separate means different, but you can use it together which means "emotions"(feelings). And is mostly used when asking people to show 4 emotions on acting. Search the 4 words together in google, you will find a lot of pictures doing the 4 expressions as a set. Maybe searching for pictures you guys will feel it more😎 Enjoying the reactions, keep it up 💪 Thank you
I feel like joy is more on the emotional side, while pleasure on the physical one? Example: when I watch your videos, I enjoy them and I feel, well...joy! But it's not like I feel pleasure. That would be *very* weird. I understand where the doubt is coming from, tho. There are a lot of scenarios where getting to experience physical pleasure naturally leads us to express joy (like sex), so it's easy to assume both things to be one and the same. But tbh I feel like this specific case could also simply be a translation issue. I'm also trying to guess the difference by thinking about how we generally use these words in my native language, so the assumption is probably wrong anyway, but I wanted to shoot my shot lol.
I know they just don't remember but in the first arc of Naruto he formed a plan within seconds to free Kakashi from Zabuza's water prison, It was like a 5 step plan.
A hint that most reactors might not pick up on: Genya's surname is Shinazugawa. The 'shinazu' component means 'doesn't die' in Japanese. I suspect that his chant, which Chris mentioned, is probably part of how he regenerates. I've seen the kanji for it thru closed captioning on Japanese TV, but it goes by too quickly for me to remember, and they're not bothering to translate them here, so I'm not sure exactly what Genya's saying. The difference between 'joy' and 'pleasure' is a bit subtle. From what I've looked up, joy (or the kanji 喜) is happiness that comes from within by doing or accomplishing something. In contrast, pleasure (or fun, the kanji 楽) is the sense of enjoyment brought about by external things, like talking with friends or playing a game. One example which brings out the contrast is getting a high mark on a test: The accomplishment will likely make you happy, but you most likely won't find it fun to take a school test. The fight's heating up. Looking forward to the next one!
Joy arises from within you e.g helping someone makes you happy whereas Pleasure arises from "external source" e.g when a serial killer kills his victim he takes pleasure in it. Love ur reaction guys❤❤. Your gonna love it when the next episode drops absolutely.
To your question about the different personalities, I would love to hear from someone who speaks Japanese about the translation. But I know a bit about the different personalities from the manga. However, I will avoid spoilers! And I'll just keep this about things you've already seen. The fan demon with the green eyes, Karaku, is out for pleasure. As you said, he seems to really seek enjoyment in the battle. His goal is entertainment and he also finds the battle "relaxing" as strange as that sounds. It's like a vacation for him - or a game. Maybe the whole relaxation and vacation thing is why he carries a fan, but I honestly don't know if that's it. The winged form with orange eyes, Urogi, represents joy - apparently a twisted kind of joy. He is also more of the "tengu" part of Hantengu with those wings. Although he is very similar to Karaku, I think the difference is that instead of focusing on the 'entertainment' value, he exalts in his power and abilities. He's very pleased with his strength - loud and proud about it, you could say. He feels joy in rising above the poor victims that he torments. It's interesting that the anger form and the sadness form just want to finish the job. They want to kill the demon slayers and move on. But Karaku and Urogi both want to savor the moment - but I think for slightly different reasons.
Not big on english are we? no matter. long story short. JOY: Internal Pleasure: External joy satisfies self whilst pleasure requires external stimuli or input to be truly satisfied. Hope tht sums it up.
"protagonist noun noun: protagonist; plural noun: protagonists the leading character or one of the major characters in a drama, movie, novel, or other fictional text. the main figure or one of the most prominent figures in a real situation." It has nothing to do with whether they are good or bad it's just who the story is focused on.
I think "Pleasure" is a bit of a mis-translation, it should be "Calm" or "Relaxation", since it is supposed be the opposite of Anger (like how Joy and Sorrow are opposites)
13:12 Uff, Love how they still react every time Nezuko gets tajeada.
