    The reason he pleaded not guilty was because the charge was murder. The charge should be reckless homicide or involuntary manslaughter which is a lesser charge/severity

      @@karakzze that doesn’t necessarily give credence to his story. I’ve followed hundreds of true crime murder cases and a lot of them start out like this and then real evidence comes out. Not saying he maliciously murdered her, but to take his word as truth immediately isn’t very productive

    Not a whole lot of people confess the crimes they do to the cops, this man took responsibility and fessed up. I'm proud of what he did. I just hope that one day there will be more people like this man and face the consequences of their actions instead of trying to run away from those consequences.

    It sounds like there is more to the story than "just an accident", but you have to give props where props is due. At least he came forward. Even if it is something shady behind it, you have to at least acknowledge that he realized he messed up and (even if a bit late) came forward to inform law enforcement and face the consequences.

      Sometimes our instincts block out logic especially in a situation like the one this guy was in there's no telling if it was an accident or not, but it's possible he just spent that time panicking and in denial.

      If I accidentally shot someone, the literal last thing I'd ever do is go to the police. He was probably in denial and shock in the moment, followed by immense fear, and then guilt which is why he turned himself in.

    Believe it or not you can go into a state of shock after a major accident. That's why I don't blame people who initially hit and run. I believe they go into a state where they don't think it's real. Once they realize what happened they need to turn themselves in.

      Wreckless homicide carries a typical sentence of 8 years,its still technically considered 3rd degree murder but with a lower sentence. hes lucky he didnt get 1st degree murder, thats life with the possibility of parole after 25 years. It would have been worse if he got charged with premeditated 1st degree murder thats 60 minimum up to life without the possibility of parole

      If he was serious about her safety and providing a gun so she could protect herself, the responsible thing would have been to explain you don’t point a gun at someone unless you intend to shoot them and what bad trigger discipline is. This man recklessly pointed a loaded gun at his friend with his finger on the trigger. He is no better than someone that downs a fifth of vodka, drives and slams into an innocent driver.
