    Great video! I am glad to see that you now know the importance of seam sealing carpet, or for that matter, seam sealing flooring whether it's carpet or vinyl. I am now in my 44th year of installing floorcovering and have seen many Installers being taught the wrong way by people who think they are right! I like that you are willing to try and learn other techniques, that's why I take the time to watch installation videos to this day. You can teach an old dog new tricks! Thanks for the great videos! PS I never used the glue gun sealer but have always used latex sealer. I think I'll rig up a new nozzle on my glue gun and give it a shot. Thanks again.

    would you recommend this with area rugs where we would have to roll up the carpet and then open back up in someones house? maybe bending the carpet sometime?

    I totally understand what you're saying about this, but like you said you've never had a issue with your seams before so what's with the change?
    Doesn't the glue from the tape get into the voids when it's melted.

      sausage man Well as you seen when I bent the seam over it it did not break open light the first piece, it literally melts the whole piece of the backings together like there’s not even a seam there, plus technically you’re supposed to seal your seams , So like I said since I’m teaching this off by as well teach it the right way According to CFI standards

      I personally think they're making this the "standard" because they can make even more money off of the installers. Lol. Plus when the carpet is laying flat and installed, it never bends that way anyway.

    Great demonstration! When would a seam ever be bent like that on an install though? Is this just to ensure an ultimate connection?

      jc86 The only time I have ever seen a seam bent like that is cross seams , After you put them together and then slide it up the wall for your long seam sometimes they will break backwards, other than that I think it’s just to show that the carpet backing gets connected from top to bottom which therefore will not allow the seam to peak When stretched

    Thanks for sharing . Does it take just regular glue gun sticks ?

    • @FloorsbySouthernboys
      @FloorsbySouthernboys  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      CarpetMan No sir it does have its own sticks that has some kind of chemical in it that mixes with the blue light for the inspectors

    you should review the butt buddy seam cutter, it makes perfect cross joins and is great for berber and loop pile

    After you let it cool, it seamed much better.

    It's because of the seam tape used bud. Try the Kool glide you'll have better results.

      How do you get your Kool glide to melt the edges in doorways, and seams where you can't fold the edges back enough to get it clear to the edge of the seam? I've had a lot of problems getting the last 1" or so to melt.
