  • The "hang hesitation" is one of the harder moves to stop at any level once you get it down. You see it all the time and it's great for almost any position. Check out the full breakdown.

    Much love for your videos. Your commentary is so helpful as I have never been shown these moves before. Growing up in hawaii, post players here are commonly the height of a typical guard. So I grew up practicing just the post. Being at the top of the key, dribbling the ball and looking to attack was pretty much foreign to me but learning these moves from you alongside working on my handles has helped tremendously in getting that confidence and aggressiveness. Thanks brah 🤙🏼

    Another great counter for this move when your defender is shifting with you is to extend the ball farther away from your dribbling hand, bend down,face your body to the rim and look at the rim before doing a hard cross the opposite direction. GOT SO MANY ANKLES WITH THIS MOVE

    The most important thing at dribling is having a good set up move (mostly hesitations) to react to defender efterwards as you explained in the video. Just watch what the defender does and take what he gives to you. So we need more breakdowns about hesitations and set up moves that alows us to react to defenders afterwards.

    Hey man I love all your videos, but this one was a bit confusing. You already made another video about the hang pull up a few months earlier that ft Isaiah Thomas. I actually incorporated the hang up into my game because of that video. However this one seemed a tiny bit rushed and did not fully showcase the move long enough for new viewers to a full idea of how to do it . I love your videos and I'm excited for more, I hope this construction criticism is received well.

    • @juliansanderson839
      @juliansanderson839 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      One tip I learned is how to keep to your balance while doing it. 1) don’t let your front shoulder farther forward than your knee. Sorta like if you squat, you keep your balance better when the knee and shoulders are aligned. 2) start by lifting the back foot behind you. Lotta hoopers lose balance because they aren’t in position to land. You gotta catch yourself with the back leg, so position it before you step back. 3) lead by faking a drive. This’ll put your opponents weight on their back foot, and increase the separation created with the step back.

    dennis smith jr has the nastiest hang dribbles in the league. his hesitation dribbles are too elite

    • @WestbrickFansGotNoBrains
      @WestbrickFansGotNoBrains 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Noo.. he was my pick for roty before season starts. I see potential in him but he heavily rely on left hand hesitation too much.
      dribble left hand and too much left hand fake and hesi too much render it ineffective overtime.
      Every game he shows you that left hand hesi and shoulder fake then tries to blow by you using athletism only.
      As fast as dennis smith jr is he still gets blk pretty often.
      Which means people knows he gonna drop that left side hesitation moves.
      Too predictable and dissapointed in him with that amount of talent he has in him but never develop them so far heavily rely on athletism to get a shot.
      Kemba curry kyrie is by far one of the best now

    Old farts out there will never understand why hesitation moves are so hard and tiring to guard.
    Literally you can use it on everything.
    Low/high post face up triple threat after one dribble down you can start drop hesitation moves.
    Works with isolation , with pick and rolls.
    So deadly.

    This "Hesitation" is a very risky move as it plays with the border line of "putting any part of your hand under the ball". This video, if analyzed correctly, will demonstrate the palming foul if you stop video at the right time and what you see is any part of the hand under the ball is under the ball period. What does under the ball mean? Stop video and draw a horizontal and vertical line on the balls most center part. Once you do that, you understand that players are borderline or completely past the point where a palming foul is committed. Official basketball rule on this is, "A player who is dribbling may not put any part of his hand under the ball and (1) carry it from one point to another or (2) bring it to a pause and then continue to dribble again.". When the player pauses midair for whatever reason, and continues to dribble afterwards, a foul must be called. The pause is what a hesitation move relies on and that is why it should never be allowed by any official referee.

    • @osuperduke1
      @osuperduke1 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Some will argue that their hand was on the side of the ball. With a round object, there is only bottom and top, and it begins and ends at the diameter of the ball.
