Astrid and Kevin are delightfully down-to-earth and impressive, both individually and as a couple. Perhaps Andy has a point about the European / Canadian influence. Their self-awareness and maturity came through so nicely. Such a pleasure to listen. :-)
Love Astrid's observation that her mother's 3rd husband may be "the love of her life" yet that her other husbands also made meaningful contributions to getting her mother TO the love of her life. Why are we afraid of having multiple meaningful relationships in our lives as if that invalidates a current connection? It's not a "most meaningful" competition. No wonder things are going well for Astrid and Kevin! Also love Sharleen's observation that an early on presentation of "I'm not perfect but I'm here" is not often found. It may be evidence of a more relevant connection to explore. Another great episode so far!
I follow this couple on TH-cam and when they broke up, one of them said "We weren't meant to be but we were meant to happen" which I thought was really beautiful.
Another great conversation between four smart and down to earth people. Loved the vibe on this podcast as well. I'm happy that Kevin and Astrid made it as a couple. My initial concern for them when they met on the show was that they were from two different countries, so that's a big hurdle, but it's very nice that they found a way to make it work. I appreciate their frankness and self-awareness. Great honest answers all around.
Just found these couples podcast episodes and they are so so good. This made me really love this couple more, I feel like they didn’t show us them on paradise because they were so drama free.
"Fight with who you're with, not with the last person you were with." Yes! That is genius! I've definitely made that mistake before (and had it made on me). I actually loved that whole conversation. Could really relate to the "walking out" thing, which can even be done without physically leaving the room by just shutting down and saying nothing, and the idea of getting to the point where you know you're not really leaving, so may as well just fix it as soon as possible.
Things I enjoyed about this episode: 1) the Dominos question going full circle back to the "how did you know" question; 2) the celebration of self-awareness; 3) the specificity in the discussion about piles of somewhat clean shirts; 4) the laughter. These Love Fests are so fun! P.S. Sharleen, you do a great job facilitating the Newlyweds Game!

I'm married to a Canadian and so enjoyed these Canadian references! (He's always watching TSN) ❤️ As a Brit, I find Canadians to be nicely in sync with British cultural characteristics - I think that helped our relationship from the beginning. We are both overly apologetic for example (I regularly apologize to furniture if I bump into it) and share a similar standard of politeness. Canadians are friendlier though, or perhaps less reserved - more on the American level in that sense 🇨🇦
I think this is the only couple that has had the same last meal choice. Very cute, and I like the way Astrid said she knew it would work out when he wanted to order it early on.

Always plans, packs his suitcase a head of time whereas I'm always last minute (also european) LOL. @Kevin, my husband always pats ACV (apple cider vinegar) after he shaves and never gets shaving bumps. Kevin Wendt, I am Canadian too. I have been living here in South Korea for many years. What you were told by the rescue you got your dog from is simply not true. In fact, this is the first time I have heard this story. No, people have not been throwing their dogs outside because they feared their dogs would get COVID-19 and pass it on to their kids. While pet abandonment does happen here, including by foreigners leaving Korea, there are MANY other situations in which people here - both Korean and foreign alike - are adopting rescue animals. In fact, pet ownership here is way up, and MANY people here are actively in animal rescue . The pet products' business is thriving here. It saddens me when misinformation gets out. Kevin and Astrid, thank you though for adopting this cutie!! More dogs here, as in Canada and the U.S. need permanent homes. I hope you both use your celebrity platform to help spread the word and encourage other people to adopt animals. Thank you. ❤

I live in NYC and dominos is by no means a fancy pizza but it's the best of the chained pizzas. The sauce is a bit sweeter and the crust is very buttery. It's quite good and so dang cheap. Team Dominos all the way
FWIW it's a myth that anxiety makes people more productive - if he suddenly lost his anxiety he would still be a planner, just much less distressed! (As someone with anxiety as well 😅)
I have to disagree about the Domino's Pizza! Have you ever tried Papa Johns? Their toppings are so good & plentiful. Dominos just doesn't seem to care. Usually, no tomato sauce just like a little slab but Papa Johns gives just enough of all ingredients. You really need to try one! We get hand tossed crust, they may have thin crust but we like to dip the end crust part of the pizza in garlic butter.🍕😋

Sharleen and her husband does a great job as interviewers. Kevin and Astrid appears to be good and genuine couple and are not into the "hollywood" lifestyles.
