The Ryu highlight vs the Ruler Shuffle perfectly displays the change in Fakers playstyle over the years. The Ryu highlight might just be the one of if not the greatest mechanical play in all of League, displaying how Faker used to be so ahead of the curve with his inhuman mechanics.
The Ruler Shuffle shows that while Faker isn't the mechanical god anymore (atleast not on every champ, i'd argue he still is on Azir) he's got a clutch factor that can turn virtually any match/series around. The shuffle wasn't "technically" mechanically impressive, it's the fact that he and only he would shuffle in on full vision while being 3.5k down against a team with baron (the team who had the statistically fastest wins with baron buff that year) stopping in front of Ruler to bait out the flash, flash a millisecond before and then shuffle him into hell. The sheer balls, the level of calm a player must have to do something like that while under such pressure. And to add unto it, the fact that his team trusts him so much that they responded immediatly without hesitation to follow up on whatever mad shit he was about to cook up.
That's why he's the goat.
you should listen to to full voice comms of the team preceding The Ruler Shuffle , and how the rest of the team played immediately before , during and after as well. Amazing.

He has such an insane ability to clutch a game when the chips are down. This year at MSI he had that play where in Game 5 vs G2 he managed to catch Hans Sama from over the wall while he was surrounded by his entire team and got out, arguably saving the entire series there. The man is absolutely unreal.

Actually this fight is full of missplays from both of them, lot of Qs missed, Es missed, and autos cancelled etc

The Zed Outplay should have been the ending, but I guess the Azir-Varus Scoop is amazing ending cause it is the prophecy being fulfilled, the revenge of Faker for when Ruler flashed on Faker. This time, Faker saw his Flash and caught him where he wants to be.
IMO, they are tied for this greatest plays of all time.
That Zed outplay was his breakout. The scream that said "I have arrived. My time is now."
That Azir outplay was him saying, with all the weight of history and legacy on his shoulders, "I'm still here. This is still my time."
Tbh the Azir play might have been the biggest reason they won Worlds. The game was really tough for T1, and without that they would've most likely lost that game, which would put them on 1-2 against JDG. An incredibly tough spot to come back from. And who knows how the things would've went from there.
And also it was the breakpoint of the series. It was the strongest opponent and they were about to lose both momentum and game.
the zed outplay was a show of his peak mechanical skills, and the first play that made him famous. But the actual top play saved their team from an immediate loss, leading them to a match point and subsequently winning Worlds, the return to the top. That play not only shows his mechanical skills are still top tier but also his decision making and judgement too (seeing how he made the call that he will do this engage before he actually executed it).

The last play will be even better if the scenario was included. The way this man decided to stand out and say “I’ll push him over”, which he actually did, when T1 needs him the most and it saves T1 from losing the game because of that baron. This is THE Faker.
The zed vs ryu was him demonstrating skill but the azir play carry the hope of his teammate , hope of all Korean and t1 fans , and he did , rebuilt his throne from ashes
Not only that, but if you listen closely Azir even shouts "Trust in me" when he throws out that ultimate. It's such a great coincidence and fits so well.

The Faker Azir play to catch JDG Ruler I saw live and I will never forget this
same. It was like 3am and I was so tired and sulking because I knew a JDG baron meant they were going to end the game and probably series up 2-1. I was gonna leave the league scene if they threw away another opporunity for worlds win back to back years. (drx loss, then basically another win if u just beat jdg cause wbg was the best/not hard finals opponent) Then the goat hits one of his most iconic plays and I shot RIGHT UP. I was beaming with joy when that play led to the win.

No matter how the mid game meta changes, faker just has a way to adapt and excel at the greatest level.

Many times in his career was asociated with Zed,Ahri,Galio,LB,Ryze,Azir,Cass, his Corki now was terrified. Many lck seasons he has the most diverse pool. He played from olaf to Zac whatever you name it. The biggest thing for me is not his mechanical genius even now he is at least with the most conservative calculations top ten. The biggest thing is his mind. The guy is a coordinator, leader, planer.
To everyone who is anti him, Faker is the one who shaped LoL from the beginning. Him, with his outstanding skills and knowledge 5 or 6 years ahead of his time, teaches everyone how to play and operate the game optimally. Specifically for Smeb's Lulu play no one was as good as Faker doing the almost perma snare on Ryze at the time so its a nice way to show it of and the best part it is against Smeb the one considered the best player at that exact time, literally nobody tought there was a better player than Smeb back then so it is important to show Faker doing these plays vs the best of the world, the same can be said about Ambitions Kahzik solo kiill with Nide, that in itself isnt impressive but you have to considere the year was 2013 and Ambition was considered the best mid in the LCK back then too and Faker? just a rookie playing his first ever game, doing that to the best of the best is just insane, hes not playing vs potatoe3321pcgamer, hes playing the best and doing this...

The quick summary is: Faker QSSd the Deathmark, Ryu missed most of his Qs and cancelled 2 basic attacks and Faker didnt miss any of his spells or basic attacks and his Ult wasnt QSSd
It was a time when QSS can nullify Zed R so he wasn't affected. Still an AMAZING play especially during that time.

No matter what region you support, we all have to recognize Faker as the greatest. The 3 most memorable to me are the JDG Shurima Shuffle, the Zed 1v1, and Orianna Shockwave finds them all.
That Riven flash over Cass ult 0:55 is so underrated IMO.

It's true that a lot of player now already surpassed Faker, but personally no one can surpass Faker as the Greatest of All Time. Yes sometimes Faker losts a game, sometimes he got solo killed, sometimes his plans failed, sometimes he made a mistake, but aren't all players like that? They are humans they are not perfect but Faker almost reach Perfections and the only one who able to do that. Personally, i think Faker set ups a bar of parameter for other players to achieve and surpass. That is why he deserve to be in the Hall of Legends.
Form is temporary, but Faker is forever!
