Thank you for this wonderful video. I took my mother's machine apart today to clean it and boy was it bad. I put it back together and do some sewing. My thread was bunching up and not feeding
through the fabric. I'll go back now and redo it, I'm certain that little part is not in the correct position. I'll come back when I go back down to look at this and let you know... Wow, your instructions
have helped me to repair and put the machine back in sewing order!!! Thank you so very much.
I was a young girl when a door to door salesman came to our house and sold my mother this machine (light beige 301A). She had a treadle Singer sewing machine. I still have the case for her sewing machine, but the salesman took the old Singer head. I wish I still had that just to have it whole again. Mother is now 96 years old and I am using her 301A still. Love it. She made all my clothes and she own and even made my wedding gown and bridesmaid gowns back in 1963. Well made machine for sure.
Again, many thanks for helping me to repair an error I made while cleaning her machine. It was tight with dust and fibers ... lol

The little screw on the inside of the bobbin case actually comes off and lets you slide the spring mechanism out to clean and oil it. Keep track of where and how it folds, and check for the spring in the slide housing on one of the sides. It's a little more complicated than taking the tensioner off to clean it, but I was able clean and oil to my satisfaction.

I just got a featherweight a few months ago so thank you for the detailed video. I like detail. I have a top of the line babylock machine but I like sewing on my featherweight better.

I just got a 301 and I was noticing that I have a bobbin case screw that isn’t screwed in as far down as yours. At 15:06 you are threading the bobbin case and the smaller screw near the top looks screwed in further. Whereas mine is just above the case. Should I tighten it? Do these ever need adjusted or tightened. I didn’t know what it would do. I love you videos

Was this Bobbin Case used in any other machines besides the Featherweights or 301 machines. Maybe some versions of 201's?

Hello. No, this was exclusively used for the Featherweight (221s and 222s) as well as the 301. I'm not aware that any 201 ever used this since the 201s used Class 66 horizontal (drop in style) bobbins.
