In my opinion, being assigned to a submarine would be the most dangerous job over any others in war time ... Navy got over the hand, but the worst still submarine, a single mistake would already doom your whole crew to death, and it can be quick with the explosion of the whole thing or slowly ... Because of a flood, flood that make the submarine sinking, you can hear the hull cracking under the pressure of the water, knowing there's no escape in the depth of the sea ... You know you'll die crushed by the pressure when the submarine can't take it anymore, or even slower, suffocating more and more, red lights on until the batteries run out of power ... And you wait for death, in the dark, haunted by your last thoughts while you can listen for the white noise of depth ... You'll be buried into the sea, and that damn submarine is your iron coffin ...
Fun Fact: In the American Civil war the Confederate president tried escaping at the end of the war by dressing up in his wife's dress and moving to the west and be forgetton until he passed through Virginia or Georgia where two union soldiers tried hitting on him before find out the "woman" was Jefferson Davis and was later punished by imprisonment
Actually from what I've read that is a myth. Well technically. He was wearing a hood and shawl to keep warm because he was deathly ill at the time. Accusations he was dressed as a woman came mostly from a number of reporters who claimed union soldiers found him dressed as woman. During his Treason Trial like a number of other confederates, fake witnesses were brought in against them to help speed up the trials and of course that accusation came up again. None of them were given fair trials as none of them really broke any laws as it was a US Constitution dispute as it clearly states citizens have a right to bear arms against their own government. So character assassination was one of the tools used to defame them. Of course the funny story of as a woman was brought up again. The same weird story happened around Hermann Goering as well with some claims saying he was captured dressed as a women in his own home. Which no evidence has ever surfaced to prove it either.

When I visited Poland with my classmates we were waiting in our bedroom and I defended Napoleon in a discussion against everybody in the group (10~14 peoples), they reduced him as a simple tyrant and mass murderer. I think I may have to find and watch Black Lagoon. However, from the information given in the video, I'm wondering why the creators of that anime decided to use U-96, which by that point in time was decomissioned and slated to be broken up. Why do I say it is U-96? Because the type shown is clearly a Type VII-C U-boat and the conning tower has U-96's iconic sawfish badge displayed. Besides, for long range missions, such as going to Indonesia, you'd have used the longer ranged Type IX's.
So in the title, we have U-511 (which is the correct boat that appears in Kancolle) but the description and pinned comment have U-551... HMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMmmmmmmmm
