She has such a beautiful voice, and an incredibly expressive face. Her emotion just jumps out of her. I can watch this again and again and still feel uplifted.
Gosh this woman can do everything. Bel Canto, Mozart, Verdi, baroque. She could also be the best salsa and merengue singer of the whole planet. She is simply the best. She blows anyone's minds. Such heavenly cadenze. Just the way Mozart dreamed about it. THANKS FOR POSTING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! LOVE IT!!!! Ibiza girl please post more!
She is charming both in her singing and in her appearance. What a gift from heaven for her and for us! Thank you for posting this video. I enjoy it, and I feel happy when I watch Diana smiling. :-)
Everything this woman touches turns to musical gold, and in opera it turnsto dramatic musical gold!!! Such a wonderful singer, such a great actress, and with such a passionate love for her art!!!!!
Please, could somebody tell me why(?) Diana doesn't "Queen of the Night" anymore?? Her acting in Mozarts best Opera is incredible! No one can beat her as THE QUEEN... Please Diana, bis... bis....!
truly, Ms. Damrau is divine..! she seems like she does know what she's singing. Such talented, true 'sing'er! How secure, warm and loving! I can genuinely feel what Mozart is trying to say..
What a delicious performance. Thanks for posting. This really confirms that the Exultate Jubilate is best performaned by a Lyric-Coloratura. I have listened to and watched countless performances od this piece over the years and a high but full voice like hers awlays delivers a sound that seems to capture the line best and define what Mozart had in mind. Thanks again for posting this!
i'm not quite sure why i got a "bad comment". i simply wanted to know because she sings this with such joy, she seems to truly believe what she's singing. for those of you who may not know this entire piece, this alleluja comes at the end of a paraphrased psalm-setting.
The lyrics must be very challenging to memorize! Kidding ;) She's singing one word...come on...but I just can't believe how creative Mozart is in setting "Alleluja" so effectively! True genius! Damrau is fabulous, as always!
She sang this in Paris on Tuesday as an "encore"...it was FANTASTIC. People (like me) broke out into applause even before she started singing because we were so excited when she walked out, and said "ALLELUJA!"
muy lindo diana ojala k algun dia puedas expresarte aqui en sudamerica tienes un don maravilloso nadie te iguala igual k los musicos del ayer un abrazo desde monteviudeo uruguay luis
@hotqueekboi true, I told my singing tutor i was listening to this version to learn with as it was the best I have found.... she had no idea who she was, until I said queen of the night.... the name meant nothing to her.... very sad.... cause Like I said, this version is the best I found,
There's been a little mistake, and I've realised she did not sing them, actually... Sigh. I'm posting the 'Rejoice' from Händel's Messiah, anyway. That's the second part of the concert. Hope you'll like it! :)
Pas de quoi =) Je l'aime aussi. The first time I heard her 'O Zittre Nicht' I cried too, and when she reached the 'Der Hölle Rache', she was so frightening, so real! Perfection est la parole. Je suis très content que tu l'as découvert. Merci pour ton commentaire ^^
Oh, I love it!!! It's like an inside joke between Diana and God! Wonderful, wonderful, wonderful. And I agree, there is a true sense of praise about this.
No, she's a lyric coloratura, it's just that her voice is really special. I heard her live yesterday and her voice was SO powerful she was singing with her mouth closed (!!!) and the last rows of a quite large auditorium could hear her!
I agree completely LOL I'll keep on posting, don't worry... I have a project in mind, actually. I'm uploading this interview she gave in New York two years ago, writing it down, and translating it to Spanish! LOL I guess I'll upload the 2nd bit today, and maybe the third ^^ Thanks for commenting! =)
Honestly, I've never heard anything she's ever sang...and frowned. I would marry her, if, you know, I...could, if you get it, and possibly if she wasn't taken. Haha :) Love you Diana. You're wonderful. d.
I saw her singing Pamina at the Met. I love Diana and I think she's one of the greatest sopranos of our time. But in my opinion no one can top Barbara's clarity for Mozart's religious pieces.
In the video where she is recording Der Hoelle Rache for her new CD, she has the score book and is reading from it. Kind of interesting when we KNOW that she knows it through and through and that she's performed it hundreds of times. I guess it's to...well...I don't actually know why. But in the video she's clearly looking at it. Is it for like, a mental guide, or a sort of psychological flow thingamabobber?
No, but it was recorded. If I get the recording, I'll post some bits :) Closing the mouth (and also covering it with her hand delicately) was for the pianissimi. This way she lowered the volume. Controling her voice must be really difficult!
This is not all she sung, there was a LOT of latin before that, believe me lol (I think I'm going to post it). Anyway, she didn't look at the score in the whole concert. Maybe it was 'just in case' lol
@Contrubas nah, the violinist is the 'first chair' violinist, the best violinist in the orchestra. but yes, all else who sing this song is put to shame by her magnificence.
Ok, this is driving me crazy! Anyone remember the Anne of Green Gables movie with Megan Follows? Does the guy playing violin starting around 1:28 not look EXACTLY like "Mr Phillips" the school teacher?
Ah, ok lol I didn't think it was rude at all. I've heard her talk about her faith, but I'm still not sure if she's a Christian or what. I think I'll be too nervous to ask her when I meet her on the 19th in Madrid!!!! :D
i was curious because she sings the exsultate jubilate with such joy that it seems she truly believes what she's singing. i know she's an actress, but there just seems to be something different about her interpretation. it seems Spirit-filled. that's all.
She has such a beautiful voice, and an incredibly expressive face. Her emotion just jumps out of her. I can watch this again and again and still feel uplifted.
She deserved that long applause at the end!
I love her little dimples!
Diana Damrau is positively breathtaking in her singing!
LOVE IT!!!!
Ibiza girl please post more!
i seriously worship the ground this woman walks on. i saw her live at the met a couple years ago and have been dying to meet her ever since.
Damrau is exquisite but let's not forget Mehta. What a joy to see him so involved and expressive. Marvelous video. Thank you.
Ms.Damrau is on her way to being as wonderful to listen to and to watch as the great Lucia Popp. Brava!
Thank you for posting this.
literally....this woman, her voice, technique, everything about her...range, EVERYTHING. She is my NEWLY favorite(d) opera "star" of this era.
wow.
d.
Wonderful in every way and Mehta's knowing smile at 2.18 says it all !
i adore the colour of her voice, so bright and warm
She is charming both in her singing and in her appearance. What a gift from heaven for her and for us! Thank you for posting this video. I enjoy it, and I feel happy when I watch Diana smiling. :-)
She's a wonderful singer!!!
Love how she is dressed, love how happily she delivers this.
Everything this woman touches turns to musical gold, and in opera it turnsto dramatic musical gold!!! Such a wonderful singer, such a great actress, and with such a passionate love for her art!!!!!
Diana's voice is beautiful and she sings like an angel!!
Please, could somebody tell me why(?) Diana doesn't "Queen of the Night" anymore??

Please Diana, bis... bis....!
truly, Ms. Damrau is divine..! she seems like she does know what she's singing. Such talented, true 'sing'er! How secure, warm and loving! I can genuinely feel what Mozart is trying to say..
this is perfection..far better in every way than anyone else in diction, dynamic, control, ease, support, and tone
Stunning! Besides her great singing, it's always a pleasure to see her visible joy of singing. Brava!

I never, ever get tired of watching this.
She is amazing good!!! She if one of my favorite singer!!! =D
it seems so easy as she sings it... Musical perfection with a winning smile on her lips, just fantastic!
What exuberance! What joy! Thanks for posting:)
A radiant smile!

One of the best and that's how this song should be sang
La magir de Mozart me boulverse à chaque fois. Que de beauté servi par une interprète extraordinaire!
Yeah, I love to see her singing too, because she seems to enjoy it!
She sang this in Paris on Tuesday as an "encore"...it was FANTASTIC. People (like me) broke out into applause even before she started singing because we were so excited when she walked out, and said "ALLELUJA!"
It was a sincere complement. I love you really!!! You fan from Rio!

Why sure! One of His daughters singing so joyfully to Him...it's gotta be on the short list of favorites! :)
Where have I been that never heard you.... and I've heard many! Love your coloratura.... mia Diva!
Love Mozart, love Diana, love the hairdo and love the fur
Maravilhosa!!!!!!
There's been a little mistake, and I've realised she did not sing them, actually... Sigh. I'm posting the 'Rejoice' from Händel's Messiah, anyway. That's the second part of the concert. Hope you'll like it! :)
i love Zubin Mehta! If I were a conductor, I would probably be most like him. He is so involved whenever he is with a singer, it's wonderful.
I added this to my favorites :-) She's flawless
excelente
bueno Diana eres impresionante
increible actitud para cantar...
Oh, I love it!!! It's like an inside joke between Diana and God!

I adoreeee her!!!!
All of her albums are magic ;)
Extremely happy to hear that ^^
So true! For being such a huge opera star, she has none of that ridiculous "diva" nonsense. Diana's just so likable!
Thanks for your reply. Perhaps a group needs to storm her website and demand one be made??
Fabulous tempo.. she's just amazing..
There's no recording of it available... I found it on the emule, but unfortunately you can't buy it :(
Honestly, I've never heard anything she's ever sang...and frowned. I would marry her, if, you know, I...could, if you get it, and possibly if she wasn't taken. Haha :)
Love you Diana. You're wonderful.
d.
Where can i find the instrumental part only.
Diana Damrau rocks!!
This bit is from a concert she gave in 2002, but although I think it was in Germany, I'm not sure about the exact place. You're welcome ^^
absolutely.
I saw her singing Pamina at the Met. I love Diana and I think she's one of the greatest sopranos of our time. But in my opinion no one can top Barbara's clarity for Mozart's religious pieces.
radiant.
hermoso,felicidades.Bravo mozart.
what an effortless high c!!! brava!
You are so right... Thanks for commenting!

Does she really belong to this planet. She sounds like an extra-terrestrial being. I´m enchanted...
Very true. You should see her face when she's singing the 'Suspirat cor'... So cuuuuute! lol I may upload it soon ^^
Folks, it doesn't get any better than this.
haha i love her stage presence!!!!!!
Hey, I'm not HER, just in case you thought so! But I love her so much sometimes I forget LOL
bravissimoooooooooooo
No, but it was recorded. If I get the recording, I'll post some bits :)
Closing the mouth (and also covering it with her hand delicately) was for the pianissimi. This way she lowered the volume. Controling her voice must be really difficult!
Brava!
she is really good!!
Diana sing it so beautifully, I love her voice even if she sings too dramatic in this one
Gracias por el video
It is Zubin Mehta :) Thanks for commenting!

Yes! I'm going to post them, some day ^^ You're welcome =)
@Contrubas nah, the violinist is the 'first chair' violinist, the best violinist in the orchestra. but yes, all else who sing this song is put to shame by her magnificence.
Where can I get a DVD of this or a audio CD? She is IT!!!! Move over everyone else who has ever done this piece.
Fue genial ^^ Era un recital de Lieder. Te contaré en un mensaje, que es largo, pero dame unos días que ando bastante liada! :)
great talent:)
Aw, I wish you the best of lucks! Thanks for commenting ^^
Bloody hell, she's such a good performer. I can't help feeling excited at her almost profane way of singing this religious song!!!!
hmm is that music folder in her hands just for show?
Doesn't seem like she'd need one.
Ok, this is driving me crazy! Anyone remember the Anne of Green Gables movie with Megan Follows? Does the guy playing violin starting around 1:28 not look EXACTLY like "Mr Phillips" the school teacher?
I KNOW! it seems like he's praising God for the glorious heavenly voice He gave Diana Damrau
She has a cute smile and a dimple! Not to mention a silvery voice :)
See Zubin Mehta conducting this with charm and grace...cheers to him too !
We share the feeling ;)
@dvcsilva Just type her name in the search box. There will be a multitude of videos to choose from.:)
Well, wikipedia is NOT a source one should always trust. She is a lyric coloratura. Dramatic sopranos don't sing Pamina.
No idea, sorry. It was in Germany, but I can't tell the exact place.
Ah, ok lol I didn't think it was rude at all. I've heard her talk about her faith, but I'm still not sure if she's a Christian or what. I think I'll be too nervous to ask her when I meet her on the 19th in Madrid!!!! :D
"Fra i barbari sospetti", from her Arie di Bravura
@Contrubas They're concentrated, not bored.
i was curious because she sings the exsultate jubilate with such joy that it seems she truly believes what she's singing. i know she's an actress, but there just seems to be something different about her interpretation. it seems Spirit-filled. that's all.
She is the goddess who wilts the Sirens
Mehta's face at 2:22/ 2:23 is hilarious...he's completely absorbed.
And not just by the music.
I LOVE this music, especially sung by Diana.
Its better than singing Der Hölle rache in a church! XDDDD.
De nada =)
