The group officially debuted on June 18, 2014 with the song "Mr. Ambiguous". Piano Man is the second extended play in Nov 2014. Their debut was considered by some critics as one of the best K-pop debuts of 2014. MAMAMOO joins the ranks of Destiny's Child, The Spice Girls, and TLC as the ONLY girl groups to sell over 70,000 tickets on their FIRST tour in the USA. This makes MAMAMOO the ONLY girl group to achieve this milestone AFTER a 21-year gap. AND the ONLY Non-English speaking girl group to accomplish such a feat.
Right from the off, Mamamoo show their 'star quality'. It is amazing to believe that no other record company was interested in them individually. It was only Rainbow Bridge World, a small record company that gave them their break. I believe Mamamoo, was their first signing? Yoon Mirae at 139), since she writes her own raps(and more) in almost all of the group’s songs. As well as contributing to the songwriting in many of them as well. - Solar has 37 credits to her name. She wrote the lyrics and composition for her solo song, “Spit it Out”. Composer on "Honey". - Hwasa has 44 credits. The lyrics to her solo song, “María”, were praised for its inventive and meaningful wordplay. ("Somebody" w/Loco). - Wheein has 9 credits (that I can find, maybe more) UPDATE Aug 27/23 - Moonbyul 117 - Solar 41 - Hwasa 46 - Wheein 10+
Ravi is the 1st most credited with over 200 songs. he said he ain't getting paid much since the songs aren't that popular. what matters is not the quantity, but how many views and sales the songs make.

It's amazing how talented Moonbyul is. Last year she competed on a show called The Second World, which had rappers from girl groups compete by showing their vocal skills - and Byul won the entire competition. She's also a talented dancer (the only thing that gives her problems is hip movement,) plus a talented songwriter. Oh the guy, Gang Chan, was a popular idol from the group B1A4. As for the Mamamoo style, it was definitely retro inspired for the first four years. About 2018 they started going for a much more modern style, so their fan base early on was older than the typical kpop group.
