I remember hearing Tammy sing this song on a nightly basis when she appeared at the hotel I was resident vocalist in way back in 1972/3. Her voice was impressive. I was in my first professional job as a solo vocalist at 17.
Quite a few artists recorded it as far as I know. But no one could equal Tammys version. Sinatra may have been in the charts with it but DIDNT do well ! With it.

this outstanding song that Paul Anka rewrote from a French hit song. Good job by Tammy. Her voice reminds me of Vera Lynn. Wonder why Petula Clark didn't do it? Or did she? I don;t know, I'm from USA. i could hear Melissa Manchester singing this.
