    sehr schöner, einfacher innenausbau. ich würde die wände noch mit hellem filz oder etwas ähnlichem verkleiden. ich glaube das wird dann nochmal wohnlicher und sorgt auch etwas für geräuschdämmung. allerdings könnte es sein, dass die katze auch viel spaß mit dem filz hat.

      @NOFOMOUNIMOG  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Danke. Ja, ich denke auch dass Filz das Raumklima und die Wohnlichkeit noch weiter verbessern würde.
      Lärmdämmung ist eher im Fahrerhaus angesagt.
      Seit der Unimog fertig ist, kommt der youth allerdings deutlich seltener Campingmäßig zum Einsatz.

      @@NOFOMOUNIMOG Verständlich das ihr den Unimog bevorzugt. Mein Puch kommt in 4 Wochen und dann gehts auch bei mir damit los ihn erstmal komplett zu lackieren und zu konservieren. Danach gehts an den Innenausbau. Daher war euer Video für mich sehr hilfreich, weil es gut durchdacht sein will, wie man den kleinen Raum so optimal wie möglich nutzt. Und mit Geräuschdämmung meinte ich nicht so sehr die Fahrgeräusche, sondern die Akkustik, wenn man sich hinten drin unterhält oder nen Film guckt oder so.

    I'm in the Philly area and noticed the PA plate! I've been thinking about getting a g wagen in the next couple of years and doing a similar camper build. Either that or maybe a Delica. Would love to pick your brain! I'll definitely be following along.

      Also, I love that this Swiss army radio op. version is a high top and has blackout curtains. Definitely seems doable for two people.

      Hi Drew, would love to see another G Camper in the area. I am obviously bias for the G. Classic shape and indestructable. Don’t know much about the Delica. Might be a little more comfortable than a military spec G.

      @@NOFOMOUNIMOG Just curious what kind of mileage you're getting. From what I understand, even the smaller 2.3L is pretty thirsty.

      @@Drew-nv1op , I haven’t tracked the gas mileage on the Puch (same for all my other vehicles). On our recent 1,400 mile trip, I had to refuel less often than I thought, but this might be a function of the large gas tank or my expectations.
      Sorry that I don’t have a more precise answer for you on this.

    Excellent work. You guys are doing an excellent job. What type of fuel efficiency are you guy see. Kilometers per gallon? How is the cabin noise level while driving on the highway? Can you share some more about insulation used in the flooring?

    • @NOFOMOUNIMOG
      @NOFOMOUNIMOG  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks J O. Here are my answers to your Q's:
      Fuel Efficiency: Not really tracking it as gas is cheaper than water in the US ;-). It feels like the fuel efficiency is quite ok if you stay below 110 km/h. Above that the laws of physics (wind resistance increases 2x with speed) takes its toll....
      Noise: The cabin gets quite noisy above 100 km/h. There doesn't see to be any noise insulation from the factory. The JBL speaker battles the noise quite nicely, but having a hands free phone call at 110 km/h is quite challenging.
      Floor insulation: We originally intended to use Armaflex, but we found this to be freakishly expensive in the US. Instead we used a Neoprene material we found on Ebay:
      www.ebay.com/itm/XCEL-Marine-Foam-Roll-Neoprene-Sponge-Rubber-Insulation-Size-60-x-16-x-1-2-/323849242375?hash=item4b66eb4707
      Here is a quick slideshow on our floor build-up. The top layer is vinyl "hardwood" from Lowes:

    Hallo Dirk,
    danke für deine coolen videos und gratuliere zum exzellenten Ausbau. Ich habe mir den gleichen G zugelegt und ausgebaut bekomme aber langsam Gewichtsprobleme da die offizielle zuladung doch recht gering ist. Wie hast du das geschafft unter 3000kg zu bleiben oder hast du deinen aufgelastet?

    • @NOFOMOUNIMOG
      @NOFOMOUNIMOG  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hallo Jürgen,
      ich habe den G noch nicht wieder gewogen da das Thema Auflastung in dem USA keinen Sheriff wirklich interessiert.
      Bei der Entkernung habe ich gefühlt 600kg Gewicht entfernt (Einzelsitz mit massiver Bodenplatte, Metallregale und Schreibtisch). Die Schweizer hatten zusätzlich noch zwei schwere 12 V Batterien dabei.
      Gefühlt bin ich schlimmstenfalls Gewichtsneutral, sollte aber mal spaßeshalber eine Wägestation aufsuchen.
      Vom Fahr-, Lenk-, und Bremsverhalten kann ich keine negativen Einflüsse feststellen.

      Hi Matze,
      zwischen dem G und mir sind zur Zeit 1.600km..., daher kann ich die Breite nur schaetze. Wenn die die Masse der richtigen Polster addiert habe, komme ich auf etwa 90 cm.
      Was die Umbaukosten angeht habe ich Teile fuer ca. 3.000 gekauft. Ich habe aber noch einige Teile uebrig (wollte noch Oberschraenke bauen) und bei der Solaranlage habe ich am oberen Ende der Preisskala gekauft.
      Hope that helps.

    Hey,
    thanks for the interesting video and the insides on your build. Two questions: how long is the bed when not unfolded? The part where you lay down from backdoor to middle-wall. And how long is the long side when the passenger seat is folded together?
    Best regards,
    Max

      Hi Max,
      without the partition folded down, I measured just a bit over 172cm or 67 3/4 inches.
      The L-shaped cushion over the partition adds about 30cm or 12 inches.

    Hi, Excellent work and videos! I live in Switzerland and I have found an advertisement for a similar vehicle that seems to be in a perfect state. I'm looking for an adventure (4x4) vehicle for me, my wife and our dog, an Australian shepherd. We are planning to use it also for the winter in the mountain to camp during the week-end as we love ski touring. It seems to be a very nice vehicle but I'm a little worried about the fuel consumption. So I'm sorry to bother you with this as well, but I'd also like to know about what is the approximate fuel consumption because as you know, in Europe it's getting more and more expansive.
    Do you also have information on where to find interior design furniture because they seems very convenient and well thought out.
    Do you also have more information about the engine? If I'm right it's a 115 HP (85 kW) from Daimler Benz Typ M 102 E23. Are you aware of any weakness of this engine or is it indestructible and very reliable? I have read somewhere that the distribution chain may be a little weak and must be replaced at 100'000 km ?
    I'm looking forward for your answers and new videos!
    Regards from Switzerland.
    Patrick

      @NOFOMOUNIMOG  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Patrick,
      thank you for your kind words. On your questions:
      1. Camping
      The Hochdach Version of the Puch suited us well on our trip. For winter camping and for camping with a decent size dog, the space inside would be a little small for my taste. but this is a matter of your personal preference. On the plus side, the hard top is well insulated, but you will need to spend some effort on insulating the rest of the car and the cab. Unlike the civilian version, the military one has bare metal in many places, which will transfer the outside temperature to the inside very quickly.
      2. Fuel consumption
      As written to other commenters, I have not really been monitoring the fuel consumption during our trip. Gas is cheaper than water in the US ;-). It feels lower than I would have expected, but that statement has no objective basis. Sorry.
      3. Furniture
      I used the Adam Hall Case system Concept. Check 4x4-innenausbau.de. Their site has some great instructional documents. The shop has a lot of swiss customers who pick up the parts at their show and take to home (and get the German sales tax back) :-)
      4. Engine
      I have to admit that I didn't do much research on this particular engine. Happy with it to far. Our trip was over 2.400km over 9 1/2 days and the G didn't bat an eye. Looking at some of the Overlanders that drive an older Land Rover, they seem to be experiencing trouble more frequently.
      I am not worried about the timing chain. If it needs to be exchanged at 100k. Do it. Never skimp on maintenance. Our Puch is at 44k, so we have some time to go.
      What the engine is clearly lacking is POWER on the hills. But with some momentum it is ok. As we have our Unimog long-term, I am also not worried about this. I have the Unimog tuned from 136 HP to 220 HP, and even with the box on, it runs really well.
      Hope that my answers were helpful. Uploaded a new Unimog video last night and stay tuned for part 2 of the vacation video, more details on our build process, etc.
      Cheers,
      Dirk

      @@NOFOMOUNIMOG Hi Dirk, Thank you so much for your quick and detailed answers. Yes I agree I worry a little bit about the lack of power of the engine, specially as I live in Switzerland and will spend most of the time in the mountain with it. Consumption could also be a problem in my view. I'm going to weigh the pros and cons again to take a decision after a long reflection. I will keep you updated. Regards, Patrick
