    Crankbait setups for the win! Thanks Hank. The application videos are solid work. I am working on squarebill and lipless more this season.

    I believe you covered most of the bases pretty good so anybody could dial in with their setup, even at affordable prices. I have 2 cranking rods and both are GLoomis (great sale). I have one for light/med shallower cranks and one for heavy/deep crankbaits. Seams roll work pretty well for me and I dont have to buy a lot more rods. Congratulations to the winner.

      @BassGeek  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah those GL's are sweet and can handle a wider range of size. But you better find a sale to buy'em lol

      @@BassGeek lol no kidding they are costly, these are the ones I got a year ago at the Lexington expo from Landbigfish.com I told you about...buy one get one free...epic deal!!!

    I've gotta agree with about 80% of your suggestions on crankbait setups. I typically run all my cranks on one of 3 rods. I am still a slow speed reel guy, though. I never run faster than a 6:1 reel on my crank setups.

    • @BassGeek
      @BassGeek  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That's the way I had been for years. 5 speeds on it all. That faster speed on the shallow to mid divers can get a reaction sometimes when they are locked up. Then you come through with a worm or jig.

    • @TeamJesusOutdoors
      @TeamJesusOutdoors 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Moving to a 6:1 on my square Bill's was a big step for me. Baby steps...

    Cranking is one thing I put on my list to get better at this year it's something I didn't do much of last season. I actually got out on the creek by the mouth of the River today in the Smallmouth were pushing in. Me and my buddy actually thought her first bass of the year today a couple Pike as well. Hope all is well man

    They still sell the crankin' sticks in even more sizes and variations now. They are glass and graphite composites. The new Lew's Custom Blacks are amazing too. Ark makes some awesome rods as well. Check out the Ark Invoker Pro 6 ft 10 jerkbait rod. Love mine.

    Very good information! I’m on the opposite side though I love glass. I feel like it allows the fish to get it no mind this I’m not a good swimbait fisherman so I understand that when you said that on the feel bass. For me it’s more about keeping the fish pinned and ive noticed with the glass regardless of how the fish eats it front or back trebles I got em with the bend of that rod. I use a Dobyns 704 champion class it’s a noodle but it works for me

    If you haven’t already, maybe you could spend some time explaining what makes a reel designed better for one bait/technique versus another. I think I’m getting a handle on different rods (lot of folks talk about power and how fast), but I can’t remember anyone explaining what you need to look for in a reel.

    I picked up a few extra cranks this yr wanna get into it alot this yr ive never really throw them till last yr and caught a couple smallmouth on them down the river but i fish most ponds alot of the time and they are so heavily grassy its hard to throw them but i found a new pond near me with no grass and alot of wood so im excited to throw them alot more this spring

    • @BassGeek
      @BassGeek  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Cranks work great in submergent grass but once it reaches the surface it's done. Just treat the tops of the grass like the bottom of the pond and use a crank that will dive just deep enough to hit the tip tops of the grass.

    • @5.7.0bassin2
      @5.7.0bassin2 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Lol I use a Kast king speed demon 9.3-1 for my deep divers I found it gets it to the bottom fast and I can reel really really slow and keep it there forever. I use the 5 & 6 XD or the 6 sense cloud 9 c6 depends if they want loud and big or they want a touch of finesse size and sounds. The 6 sense curve 55 is a straight up cereal killer in cold deep water all winter and especially after cold fronts have pushed through. Loved the video man thanks for sharing!
