Totally out of the box John. Totally Nailed! I was asking about the oven temperature and time but read all comments first. Can’t wait to see you doing some rad Glock using this technique! Thanks for share with us. It’s been a pleasure following you all those years! A lot of respect!
So when you do your acetone rub your throwing it in the oven for like 5min at 150 then hitting it with a towel and acetone? Or are you letting it sit like 30min before wiping it down?
Gotcha. The video wasn’t clear on if it was going in the oven or not. I got a Unique AR handguard from Best Damn Gun and backfilled using a similar technique. The only difference is I sprayed and let sit 30min before wiping with acetone instead of partially tacking out in the oven. I was concerned I wouldn’t be able to get all the coating off I wanted off once it was tacked. Perhaps I’ll do a test doing it the way you did
Be careful. If you let it hang too long, it will soft cure from the hardener. Sonya was my new SHOT show friend. Her entire family was awesome. Really neat people.
I think the total time was 6 hours getting everything done in 3 colors plus clearcoat at the end. I did one row of skulls in white then after wiping it off tacked it in the oven and did the same on the other row of skulls. Then I backfilled in pink. It was a long day
Great work and technique. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge. Excellent video. I am always excited when I get a notification that you have posted a new video. The finished product is awesome.
H series. About 6 minutes. You want them to be solid, but not tack free. You want to get it into that sticky zone. It makes it easier for the acetone to work.
Oh ... and running out of color mid coating SUCKS! We have been using a PPS system when we have larger jobs, like manufacturing runs of a lot of parts in which we are using a lot of the same color for a lot of parts.
My all time most frustrating thing is the once or twice a year I forget to put hardener in. Usually on a Friday afternoon when instead of pushing through, I should just let it sit until Monday, lol.
Forgot to mention during the speckling phase... If you use a cheap HVLP, make sure it has a metal cup. The hardener will melt a plastic cup.
What about the "C" air cure series? Will it still melt a plastic cup? Thanks.
@@tilescape It does eventually. The only thing we spray through a plastic cup is microslick.
@@BransonCerakote Thank you!

Next week will be part one of probably three that will be my new G19 EDC. I have a cool idea in my head, and this look will be part of it.
I've been looking for a tutorial on a copper patina using robin egg blue and either copper color with burnt bromze.or blsck

That one has the technique. Just substitute any colors you want.
Very cool final product. Quite a few steps to keep straight to get there, but definitely catches your eye. Thanks for the video:)
Thanks for watching!
awesome booth pulls the overspray right out
Yep. It's a nice setup comfort wise.
John, Great technique and super cool shop swag!!

With our oven, because they are all different, it went for about 5 minutes at 180.
No sitting, other than to bring the temp down enough to handle.

Did you bake between coats? What series Cerakote are you using?

As always John, Get video. Thanks again
