    My girls were rescued from the cruel commercial egg industry. They were on their way to be slaughtered when just 18 months old after being deemed no longer profitable. They are affectionate and great companions. Please rescue, don’t buy 💕

    I was shocked how much chickens cost in Australia!!! OMG! You can buy hens here for under $ 10.00 or less, depending on where you live. In the US they always suggest quarantining your birds for a few weeks, unless she bought them all from the same breeder.

    • @dundeeorganix7828

      Here in the NT Australia breeders sell chickens for $2 each when chicks but polishs can sell for $50 each!

    Can't believe they didn't recommend Quarentining the different breeds from the different breeders. First rule of getting chickens.

    I currently live in America, but would absolutely love to move to Australia. I really really want to bring my pet chickens with me. Is it possible to transport chickens over to Australia, and if so how much would it cost?

    • @animalcarer2916
      @animalcarer2916  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hmmm, I am not sure about that but there is a few ways it could go you could get them in no worries but not sure about the price probably some where around $300-$50per chicken but you might also have your chicken tested for possible sickness it could bring into the country even know it moslikely dose not have any and you might have to get a permit. But good luck and if you do end up coming here I am sure you will love it

    For pure egg-laying for victorians you can not go past hatchery birds and Wagner's hatchery @ coldstream breed great egg-layers > for backyarders i would recommend the Black (australorp v new hampshire) pullets
    get far better egg-layers @ hatcheries than from show stock sold @ poultry club auctions, mark from canberra

    how many birds can you have in an urban home yard?

    • @animalcarer2916
      @animalcarer2916  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      not to sure but it depends on the greenery and vegetation you have in the coop but genuinely its 13 birds per square meter, but i would keep about 6-10 hens.
