This isn't that accurate. There is no reason not to feed them insects frequently. Some people use a large percentage of their feed as insects to get the protein up. This allows a less protein rich grain feed to be used. This makes the feed cheaper, more diverse and more healthy. Instead of wild game bird feed at 28% protein use a poultry finisher feed with a steady diet of bugs to elevate the protein to where it needs to be. This ends up being inexpensive if you farm your own bugs which is super easy. I raise feeder roaches and mealy worms personally. The feeder roaches are my main composters as well so they are dual purpose. They compost way better than worms, but you need to use a specific one. I use ivory head roaches. Their habitat and behavior is a little different than dubias and they cannot climb smooth walls unlike Dubias so there is basically no escape risk. The amount of food or yard scraps I can throw in their bin only to vanish in a day or two is staggering.

You can use long tent pegs as well to keep out foxes very simple method just use a hammer to insert into ground

Watermelon is fine for snails. I’ve been keeping snails for years now and I feed them watermelon almost every day the eggshell could cut them so break in up until it is a fine powder!

I was shocked how much chickens cost in Australia!!! OMG! You can buy hens here for under $ 10.00 or less, depending on where you live. In the US they always suggest quarantining your birds for a few weeks, unless she bought them all from the same breeder.

I currently live in America, but would absolutely love to move to Australia. I really really want to bring my pet chickens with me. Is it possible to transport chickens over to Australia, and if so how much would it cost?
