Enigmatic is a rather nice word to describe him

I'd say it was charitable in the extreme.

Narcissist I’d say, he single handedly cursed the Leafs and the city. You can thank his curse for every last Leaf choke.

@@a17yearoldonyoutubeluigi . Every Leaf fan should pay homage to the man's grave. After 6 beers and a fist full of diuretics.

When Lanny McDonald was traded, I vowed to stop watching that Ballard Clown Show until he died. I didn't quite make it-- I had to keep an eye on this kid they drafted, Wendel Clark in '85-- but I knew Clark's time in Toronto was likely going to be longer than what Ballard had left as owner. But I really didn't start watching the Leafs regularly again until the 90/91 season. If I'd have known the details of what he did to Dave Keon, I would have quit watching a lot sooner.

May he rot in the underworlds till the end of time, he will never be forgotten or forgiven for the things he did and how he cursed this city for decades and decades to come. Every single failure from the Leafs fills him with more and more joy in the inferno below.
Also why even make a documentary, Urinatingtress Half Century of Failure vid will speak more truth than anything anyone else makes.

"All he cared about was having people in the seats and making money". Our entire family hasn't been able to afford even the cheapest Leaf tickets since Ballard passed away and our 'Maple Leaf Church' was demolished. There's still no Big Shiny Cup to celebrate, but at least Salming, Sittler, McDonald, Palmateer, Tiger, etc ... gave us incredibly entertaining 'cultural' memories that will last for a lifetime.

Met Ballard as an 11 year old at Maple Leaf Gardens. What a jerk he was. The team has been cursed ever since.

Ballard would keep the pre-sold playoff ticket revenue until after the Stanley Cup was awarded, even though the Leafs were eliminated. He would collect the interest on the pre-sold monies.
