  • Gage and Tollner was Brooklyn's most famous classic restaurant. It closed a few years ago, and is now being restored and reopened in all its gas-lit glory.

This was a great video. I can't believe that it used to be an Arby's I'm glad that Gage & Tollner is open now in 2021 and that it's gotten race reviews in the NY Times, etc. I can't wait to have an occasion to celebrate to go to Gage & Tollner. I've been looking enviously at Instagram posts from Robert Simonson's many visits to Gage & Tollner.

Many years ago in the 1960's/70's Fulton Mall was Fulton Street with trucks, cars and busses. Chuck full of great stores like Abraham and Strauss, Bonds, May's, E.J.Korvettes and Martins. Best of all I could catch the B37 bus there and ride home above ground. Otherwise it was the RR train at Lawrence St. Was worth the walk from Albee Sq. to Junior's for cheesecake. This neighborhood now has studio apartments going for over a million bucks. Open to all races, religions and cultures. If you got the money. Yeah, Brooklyn is much better now (sarcasm intended).

Like yourself, I'm familiar with Fulton Street. I used to work at A&S back in the day. Brings back great memories!

I worked Christmas Help at A&S in early 1970's. At the expensive shirt counter in the front of the store. Oleg Cassini tuxedo shirts and stuff like that. Remember the A&S sponsored fishing contests at Prospect Park?@@rogerseale6661
