Columbia University President Nemat "Minouche" Shafik on Thursday called on New York police to forcibly clear a student occupation on the lawn of the school, which had been dubbed the Gaza Solidarity Encampment, resulting in over 100 arrests. The protesters were demanding the Ivy League school divest from firms and institutions that profit from the Israeli occupation of Palestine, but Shafik ordered the raid a day after being questioned on Capitol Hill about ongoing pro-Palestinian protests on campus. The move caused outrage among students and many faculty, who decried it as censorship and a violation of academic freedom. The renowned professor and presidential candidate Cornel West, chair of the Columbia-affiliated Union Theological Seminary, joined students Thursday in solidarity with their protest and told Democracy Now! they "represent the best … of the human spirit," and lauded them for "fighting in the face of domination and occupation and subjugation, and doing it with tremendous determination."

My high school junior with all AP GPA 5.0 is refusing to apply for theses collages. It’s not worth it. State collages are far better compared to these political institutes. This is becoming another Europe. US did not think about proper immigration rules. It’s too late already.

The USA enabled a remnant of the French Colonial Government in Vietnam as a legitimate government and promoted it as a "democracy" which needed to be defended. When students protested against this travesty, they were called "communists" and "traitors." Eventually the general population of the USA learned the truth about their government's meddling in Vietnam, and that war came to an end.

As long as universities remain dependent on subsidies which they receive from federal and non-federal governments, they will not be inclined to change their policies.
I am beginning to understand why the militia in our country feel the way they feel and they believe so strongly in keeping their arms. When you put a chokehold on any dissent, change rules and move the goal post and set your priority based on a foreign lobbying group instead of your citizens, people either feel like setting themselves on fire in a way of protest or take arms and try to dismantle this corrupt system. The fact is that our system today is so far away from what the founding fathers had envisioned and hoped for this nation.
The university likes the publicity. If you want to protest in a way they understand, transfer en masse to other schools. The loss of students who have been there for several years will be the worst because enrolling more freshmen will not fill out those classes.
Free speech requires responsibility! The right is for demonstration not intimidation! The shout is to be heard not to shout the other down.
Why don't they protest somewhere else now that won't disrupt classes that are the foundation of universities?

It’s so refreshing to see life on campus hasn’t changed a bit compared to decades ago when I was an “activist”. We came from high school to a world of academia and we knew for sure then that we were finally adults and the world could see that we had all the right answers to the worlds issues and that for some reason nobody acknowledged the obvious. Narcissistic and entitled to the core we were. Then we grew up, learned that the world was so much bigger than we thought and recognized that behaving like children and threatening to hold our breath until blue in the face was not really a great way of communicating and more importantly supporting a cause. Those that didn’t grow up are now today’s social sciences professors.
A new production line has not been built for today's people, and it comes from the same threshold. What would happen? Would people and their experiences be different from those in the past?
Well done to the brave and courageous students of Columbia’s university for speaking out for the end of the genocide of the Palestinian people.

We must fully resist and _always vote_ against (& less authoritarian than) both the Democratic *and* Republican Parties- including Trump, Vivek Ramaswamy, Rand Paul (He’s _no_ Ron Paul), Warren Davidson, Ron Johnson, and all other Republicans.
For _all_ public positions. And this same strategy applies against the same one or more party-monopolies in _all_ countries worldwide.
Real libertarians will never be Republicans or Republican loyalists. You can always _write-in_ an anti-authoritarian person if no candidates for a position fit that bill.
This will continuously reduce the power of _all_ authoritarian parties in the party monopolies. Until our task is complete.
Repeat strategy for all new authoritarian parties that emerge.
