Democracy Now! speaks with Hala Rharrit, the first State Department diplomat to publicly resign over the Biden administration’s policies backing Israel’s assault and siege of the Gaza Strip. Rharrit is an 18-year career diplomat who served as the Arabic-language spokesperson for the State Department in the region. “I could no longer be a part of the State Department and promote this policy. It’s an inhumane policy. It’s a failed policy that is helping neither Palestinians, neither Israelis,” Rharrit says. “We are not authorized to send military equipment, weapons to countries that commit human rights abuses. ICJ has determined plausible genocide, yet we are still sending billions upon billions of not just defensive weaponry, but offensive weaponry. It is tantamount to a violation of domestic law. Many diplomats know it. Many diplomats are scared to say it.” She adds, “I read the talking points that we were supposed to promote on Arab media. A lot of them were dehumanizing to Palestinians.” Rharrit also discusses how “corruption” in government allows for arms sales to continue. “I could not help but be concerned about the influence of special interest groups, of lobbying groups on our foreign policy and, as well, on Congress - on the people that decide whether or not some of those shipments of arms get sent. The bottom line is that our politicians should not be profiting from war. And unfortunately, we have some institutionalized corruption that enables that,” she says.

It is Not genocide. Palestinians were publicly praising Hamas after they broke their ceasefire and bombed Israelis. on October 7,2023.
That is incomprehensible unless you realize Palestinians want the end of Israel and don't care how they get it or they would flee the region; however, other Muslims have made it clear they don't want them. That is a political decision and certainly not Humane.
How will it end, if Palestinians won't or can't sit down with recalcitrant, dishonest members of Hamas heads and Israelis and seek a truly peaceful situation.

Since the Palestinians approved of Hamas attacking Israel and taking hostages, they led their families into this apocraphical narrative by supporting and dwelling with terrorists.
They blame the victims, Israel, and praise the Arabic perpetrators, Hamas and Hezbollah. The fact they killed the press members shows that they aren't wanting them to report the truth to the West.
Her attitude seems naive, although some of it has merit, but her expectations will not be met due to terrorism and antisemitism.

I worked with the State Department as a contractor for approximately 7 years and they were completely incompetent regarding foreign policy and cultural integration.

The first time I heard companies can make new employees sign anti-BDS clauses in their contracts, I didn't know anything about Israel as a state, and I was pissed. BDS is what we do when we don't like/are upset with people ALL THE TIME. Denying Americans' free speech on BDS of Israel BEFORE OCT7th was already an issue.
