  • In January 2024 Queen Margrethe of Denmark abdicated the throne in favor of her son, crown prince Frederik. He became King Frederik X and his wife, the former crown princess became Queen Mary.
The crown jewels of the state of Denmark are solely used by reigning queens or queen consorts. Some other jewels belonging to the royal family or the state are also solely used by queens. Let's take a better look.

Such fabulous jewellery. Queen Mary will do them proud. A beautiful woman to match the jewels. 💎

The pearl and diamond tiara reminds me of the Cambridge lovers knot tuara worn by the Princess of Wales. 2 very beautiful tiaras.

The way HRH wears the floral aigrette tiara is so amazing. So much more luxurious as a decoration to the back of the hair versus the forehead.

Queen Mary is now Her Majesty, not HRH.

The Emerald Tiara set is beautiful but the color of her dress make the necklace not very notice. In my opinion it would look exquisite in a lighter color of dress - it would stand out very well like Princess Eugenie in the Emerald tiara with her white wedding dress.

The whole ensemble had too much going on IMHO.

At looking this photo I actually disagree the necklace is noticeable but in a way where it tastefully compliments Mary’s dress. Which I think from seeing her style over the years. Was probably how she wanted it.

The Queen have told a story about her mother Ingrid would send for the pearls on weekdays and just wear them around the palace because their shine was dull, and wearing it direct on the skin would wake them and make them shiny again. It worked... but also left danes with a mental picture of the old queen in slippers and cron jewels puffing on a cigarette....

When tiaras are part of the Nation, not personal property, then there may be rules controlling who may wear them.

Actually, it is said that the Emerald set were made for Queen Caroline Amalie, in connection with their 25th Wedding Anniversary.

While it is written King Frederik X, it is pronounced King Frederik the 10th.

And at 4:06 isn’t there a missing pearl?

I thought so too but it’s just tilted back and caught in her hair. The pearls are set to dangle.

Queen Margrethe had a tendency to have her head turned in a way that made it look like a pearl was missing. From the same hoop, actually. But then it would come into sight shortly after.

Personally, I find the Danish royal jewels to be very basic in design and somewhat boring, but I do like the floral aigret tiara and seeing the way Queen Mary had altered the Napoleonic ruby tiara, I am sure Queen Mary will do the same with the floral aigret tiara. I did not like the way Queen Margrethe wore the floral aigret tiara, but I really love the way her mother Queen Ingrit wore the floral aigret tiara. The diamond pearl tiara/parure is exquisite then again it all comes down to the way Queen Mary will wear this particular pearl diamond tiara that will make it a showstopper. On another note, Queen Mary definitely needs to update and upgrade her wardrobe because these beautiful jewels don't quite match lace dresses, Queen Mary is giving too many lace-dresses, she needs to start wearing gowns that can make history and fit for these royal jewels.

1 the emerald set is crown jewlels witch means they are owned by the state and are not allowed to leave the country
there for not privately owned by the royal family
2 the rest in this video however is privately owned but not by Queen Mary but by her mother in law Queen Margrethe the 2nd of Denmark who still lives so still owns her own jewelry inherited from queen consorts before her alot of it is from Louise of sweden who married the future Frederik the 8th incl the ruby diamond set Queen Mary was presented with at the engagement to King Frederik the 10th who inherited it from his grandmother Queen Ingrid who was given it by her inlaws King Christian the 10th and Queen Alexandrine as a wedding gift when she married their son the future King Frederik the 9th Queen Margereths Parents, he was given it to give to his chosen one and that was Mary. Queen Mary has not been given anything yet other then what QM2 has given her as gifts through the past 20 years and the jewels in this video is part of it the pearl tiara she wore in Norway last week but she does not own it it was a loan from QM2.
