Thanks for that Mal. I rarely buy box-sets these days. Just too damn expensive, they don't get played, they're an awkward size and they take up too much room. One of the past joys of collecting vinyl used to be its affordability. You could build up a nice collection on a budget if you put the hours in shopping around. That was half the pleasure. A another enjoyable video that reminded me why I have never bought a boxset. Once an album goes onto the outtakes, alternative versions and warm up jams its outstayed its welcome. That said, the Goats Head Soup one with the live set seemed the most interesting example offering something extra, contextualising the original disc.
I considered replacing my entire collection with UHQR, however, after deciding that my RDAR’s (Rapidly decaying audio receptors [lugs]), my CLCA (chronically limited cognitive ability) and my DBC66 (Dansette Bermuda circa 1966) could not justify such an investment, I chose to stick with the status quo. My IPIS (inbuilt propensity for inverted snobbery) and my IAB (insatiable appetite for bullshit) tend to override those programmes you mention. Now I'd have had a 'dum' or two in the Quo tune-or is it 'dumb'?
Some eyewating nice boxes. I love my Lemmonheads one as well. Now I want to get out my old Bangladesh and see what kind of nick it is in 😊 Love the video man 😊
Cracking video Mally.... Much prefer box sets in the form of several back catalogue albums in one box... John Prine as in recent years had two box sets released that are nothing short of fantastic.. Had The Trees and Nick Drake,s back catalogues in boxes bought for recent birthdays.. Bought a Folk to Rock box set around 1980 that i cant recommend enough... Take care Mally...
